Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

I find I've been getting e-mail stuff too, tho' what I've received hasn't been as gross as some of what's been put up here. Got this one this morning, and it made me giggle:
Quote:

Far from having Jesus Christ as their "favorite philosopher" - as "W" dishonestly proclaimed when he was their presidential candidate in 2000 - the true "favorite philosopher" of the G.O.P. is the atheist named Ayn Rand. The real problem with this "philosopher", however, isn't that she argued against the existence of God. It wasn't the existence of god or of anything else "supernatural" that concerned her. What she disliked about religion and what she devoted her entire life to fighting was "the Golden Rule", the belief promoted by virtually every religion that people should love others as they love themselves. Anybody who has trouble wrapping their minds around this fact needs to read her book, which she titled unapologetically "The Virtue of Selfishness". It's online and less than 200 short pages long.

Mitt Romney's selection of Paul Ryan to be his vice-presidential candidate provides us with a superb opportunity to wake up the 70% or so of American voters who view themselves as "Christians" to the fact that, for all their talk about "traditional Christian family values", what the Republican Party has been pushing for the past century are the values of a woman who would have gladly embraced the title of "the Anti-Christ", if she had known enough about the Christian parts of the Bible to be familiar with that title.

Looks like it'll be tougher than he thought for Ryan to run away from his love of Ayn Rand...

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

It's funny, really... the GOP's chosen saint is a Russian atheist!

"I supported Bush in 2000 and 2004 and intellegence [sic] had very little to do with that decision." - Hero

Mitt Romney, introducing his running mate: "Join me in welcoming the next President of the United States, Paul Ryan!"

Rappy's response? "You're lying, gullible ( believing in some BS you heard on msnbc ) or hard of hearing."
