And then he died of a heart attack.

I have yet to die of a heart attack, but I got this guys back....

You asked me in another thread why I was laid off.....

As far as doing great work and being dependable, I was all A+....

The new bosses, among other things, got rid of our smoking room and made us stand outside of the building in the blizzard 40 feet away from the building with no shelter in 3 feet of snow. They cancelled every company holiday catering and they even outlawed us from bringing in crock-pots to have our own little food-fest.

Of course, being the only one with no debt or no dependents, I was the one who constantly opened my mouth even when it wasn't my battle.

My only solace is the two who were "tasked" to remove the "undesirables" were laid off last year themselves.

Hehe...

Jay and Mike are probably doing better than me now though. They're at least managers at your local Foot Locker.

F-Kers!.....

SIGNYM

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

DOOD, I wrote you in the other thread but I gotta say...

You have no idea where you're living, who's in power, and what you gotta do. Among other things, you seem to think that business owners value individualism and tolerate smart-mouthing. Really, to get away with a "bad attitude" you have to be SO GOOD that the business will literally fold w/o you. Also, you seem to have serious impulse control problems, perhaps ADHD or ODD. That may be why you never got a degree despite being bright. Please read the end of my post in the "I Can Only Speak for Myself" thread.

Like I said, best of luck.

Ummmm... Looks back at the last three places he worked, sees they're no longer there, all having folded up within a year of my leaving, DESPITE my explicit warnings that they needed to cross-train people to do my job(s).

If fact, the last place, several coworkers actually literally told me, "This place won't make it without you," to which I could only reply that if that were true, they'd either overvalued me or underpaid me, and neither was acceptable to me. Last I heard of the former owner of that company, he'd lost his $4,000,000 home to foreclosure, lost his Hummer, his Jag XK, his Benz S-class, and was living in an efficiency apartment and driving a '72 Ford pickup, selling bibles door to door.

Guess the 1% need the other 99% a bit more than they think.

I don't need Kwick to humble me Signy...

I work at the Mart today making 1/4 of what I used to with zero benefits. The REAL WORLD, is a much more powerful force than the RWED, as you know....

Nobody is irreplaceable. Your ability and work ethic only go so far.

When they can hire 10 people in India for less than you were making who will work harder than you do and have more education than you do, how can you compete with that????

Time to learn some trades. Something that can't be outsourced.

With gas prices the way they are now, I can't imagine it would be cheaper to ship a lawn mower or snow blower to India and back to get it fixed than it would for me to do it in my own garage.

Besides.... if something goes wrong, I'm only an "American Voice" that's just a phone call away..... that and... they know where I live if I mess it up.

NIKI2

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

Mike, I saw that one a while ago and had a good giggle out of it. Something along the line of "use your brains as well as your prejudices", but people who do stupid things like that rarely do. I'm sorry he died of a heart attack, I wouldn't wish that on anyone, but he gave me a few minutes of amusement at his stupidity first, so I appreciated that.

I would go into the two times I was laid off, despite having been told in numerous reviews that I was a superlative employee, having trained others, started the first Mac department the company ever had and producing a graphic which, last I heard, still hangs on the wall of the main office of one of our major clients, etc. But that has no relevance to the issues which concern us now, it's just the way the world goes. In both cases of layoffs, I was judged (not my own opinion) as an A+, etc., etc., and in both cases I had been guilty of speaking about wrongs being done to the company or a fellow employee, which is probably what made the company uncomfortable enough to get rid of me. So what? We all make our own choices, and nobody's better than anyone else as far as I'm concerned. Karma is what we make it.
