"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

Jenny Granholm rocked the house.

Polls are showing Obama pulling a 7 to 9 point bump after the convention, compared to Romney's 0 to 2 points (Gallup showed him losing a point!) after their little uptight-a-thon.

Oh, and when asked if he regrets not mentioning the troops or Afghanistan at all in his acceptance speech, he replied " I only regret you’re repeating it day in and day out. When you give a speech you don’t go through a laundry list, you talk about the things that you think are important..."

GM: Still $42B in the Hole

BY: Bill McMorris
July 26, 2012 2:26 pm

Despite President Barack Obama’s stories about a resurgent GM ready to repay its bailout tab, the automaker and its former bank still owe taxpayers nearly $42 billion, according to an inspector general’s report.

GM owes $27 billion on the nearly $50 billion it received from the auto bailout and Ally Bank, the company’s lending arm, owes $14.7 billion of the $17.2 billion taxpayer-funded bailout it received...

GM’s stock has plummeted in recent months after stagnant development in overseas markets. It hit a new low on Wednesday, falling to $18.80, a 52 percent drop from its January 2011 high of $38.90

( Stock prices as of Sept 7,2012 are listed as $23.37 per share )

Hey Kwicko,

He really said that!?

you talk about the things that you think are important..."

That is the single most stupidest thing I've ever heard come dribbling out of a politician's mouth in.......ever!
That's double the insult to the men & women in uniform. This is our future Commander-in-Chief? He might as well put up double middle fingers and yell FUCK YOU to the troops. Not a smart move there Mitty!!!

I would say that even evangelicals (who's to say they'll vote for a mormon) have sons and daughters in the armed forces. Just let Romney keep talking between now and November. Obama doesn't have to do a thing. For a guy who steals millions of dollars from the poor to give to the rich (Bizarro Robin Hood) he sure is a dumb motherfucker. Total disdain for human beings.

Obscure movie reference #162:

"Which one is your wallet again?"
"The one that says Dumb Motherfucker!"

Yup, he really said that. The Obama campaign should have a commercial out TODAY showing him making those comments, backstopped with Obama's own comments to those troops at Fort Bliss whom Mittens doesn't think are important.

Not lying, admitting I was wrong. 42 billion , not 30 billion. That's what GM owes the tax payers, thanks to Obama.

Yeah, he said the "important" thing, I've seen the videos.

The thing is, to him it's NOT important--notice he said he mentioned "the military", which "includes the troops". That's a prime example of Romney's mindset. The only people he's probably dealt with are the "military"--the corporations that make military hardware and so forth. And he's a corporations man, so to him, despite the fact that the "military" ISN'T the troops, they're the same thing. I don't think he's trying to weasel out of not mentioning the troops, I think he actually believes they are the same.

I don't think he considers individual soldiers much, I think he just lumps them with all the other components of the military, so what he said is perfectly accurate--to him. It's just another reflection of the fact that he thinks in corporations, not individuals. After all, "corporations are people, my friend". There's nothing really wrong with that, for a businessman. For a President, not so much.

By the way, good old FauxNews' banner said "Many people don't understand Obama took car companies into bankruptcy". As someone once said, "there they go again..."

Of course the GM thing is BS right-wing spin anyway. GM doesn't "owe" the government money on the "bailout" - the government OWNS stock in GM that it has not sold, about a 26% stake in the company.

*IF* the stock were sold at today's market price, the government would be out around $16b. Romney is claiming that if he were elected, he'd sell off the government's shares immediately. That would result in a large financial loss for taxpayers, but that's how Romney rolls.

Just imagine how much I'd have lost if I'd sold Apple stock when it hit $6 instead of $680!

As for Jenny - consider this...
The only thing that keeps her from running for President, is the exact same thing that keeps Ah-nold the Governator (who I think grew substantially as a person and politician despite my mockery) from running.
Which means if you should change the rules for Ah-nold, it opens the door for Jenny.

I cannot fathom a possible situation where she would not utterly curb stomp any GOP contender in a debate, but she would thoroughly humilate the Governator in one.

And I say that as the highest form of compliment. She's a classy, brassy broad in the mold of Molly Ivins and Ann Richards.

BTW, anyone catch Cecile Richards, head of Planned Parenthood, speaking at the DNC? If her style reminded you of Ann Richards, that's because Ann was her mother.

I don't like it, it's an El Camino only stupid. They tried to do the same thing with the GTO, didn't work.

"... an El Camino only stupid." That's a bit... shall we say, redundant, isn't it?

Pickup trucks are made to haul things. The Maloo R8 is made to haul ASS.

Funny you mention the GTO, since it was nothing but a rebadged Holden Monaro. The Maloo is based on the same platform.

Aussies enjoy bizarre big-car fun. Ask Mad Max about the last of the V8 Interceptors (aka Ford Falcon).

Shove a 351 Clevland in anything and it'll go fast, ugly is ugly. Nuff Sed.

Sorry, but that Falcon is NOT ugly; it's freaking awesome. Some old Torino (the back half), some '73-'74 Mustang, and maybe even a touch of Jensen Interceptor around the front grille. I'd love to get my hands on one of these suckers.
