Salient points.
Quote:

A two-year bipartisan investigation by the U. S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations has found that Department of Homeland Security efforts to engage state and local intelligence “fusion centers” has not yielded significant useful information to support federal counterterrorism intelligence efforts.

“It’s troubling that the very ‘fusion’ centers that were designed to share information in a post-9/11 world have become part of the problem. Instead of strengthening our counterterrorism efforts, they have too often wasted money and stepped on Americans’ civil liberties,” said Senator Tom Coburn, the Subcommittee’s ranking member who initiated the investigation.

The full report is linked at the bottom, and it's absolutely, incontrivertably DAMNING.

Chasing phantoms, spying on folks who've done nothing more than disapprove of this exact kinda bullshit, blowing money on useless toys and pretending to be james bond and shit - but especially galling was breaking their charter and engaging in covert intelligence GATHERING, which they were expressly and directly NOT permitted to do.

Once again, a problem masquerading as a solution.
Once again, the gravest threat to our national security.. is our National Security.

That's the whole mission of the terror-industrial complex: manufacture terror. Either do it by just making shit up and stoking the fear, or by outright pissing people off enough that they decide to take drastic measures. Either way, we've effectively managed to manufacture terror.

The next step is outsourcing it to the Chinese, because I'll bet they can manufacture terror even cheaper!

Well I for one am hoping for a full-on outright AUDIT by the GAO, followed by criminal charges.
Remember that George Miller is on friendly terms with us and helped sink the hellcamps - I cannot see a guy like that accepting such fraud, waste and abuses without a boot in the ass cause it's kinda his job, right ?

Of particular interest are four fusion centers that existed only on paper - where did that money go, and to who, why ?
Very likely a bit of Mil-Intel-Industry payola and graft, but the devil is of course, always in the details.
And there's ALWAYS a paper trail, ALWAYS - and people talk, even and especially when they ain't supposed to.

Frem, Frem, Frem, darling. Do you really think that's going to happen?

Call me cynical, but I can't see anyone touching the Terrorism Goose, any more than they would the Vaccine Goose.

HAHAHAHAHA.
Remember who yer talkin to, doll.

Once upon a time even mentioning the EXISTANCE of the hellcamps, the POSSIBILITY of abuse within the church, was a fast ticket to the ban-hammer and being dismissed as crazy cause there was no-such-thing, and it was all urban legend.
And yet, and yet... here we are.

The worm turned in 1976 with the Church committee, and the time is about ripe for the wheel of history to cycle back around again, there's a certain pattern to it, which I am exploiting the hell out of.
It's gonna be an INTERESTING year, it is.
