Wow. Fancy that!
Quote:

Mitt Romney said he was "completely wrong" when he argued that nearly half of Americans were "victims" and dependent on government.

The admission came Thursday as the GOP presidential candidate sought to clarify his controversial "47%" comments.

"Clearly in a campaign with hundreds if not thousands of speeches and question-and-answer sessions, now and then you're going to say something that doesn't come out right," Romney said on Fox News. "In this case, I said something that's just completely wrong."

After the videos, which were posted on the progressive news website Mother Jones, caught fire, Romney called a last-minute press conference with pool reporters while he was in California at the time.

The former Massachusetts governor acknowledged the comments were "off the cuff" and "not elegantly stated," but he defended the main point of the message, saying he was criticizing the increasing size of government and entitlement programs.

The following day, Romney still stuck by his comments and elaborated on the logistical reasoning behind his remarks.

On Fox News Thursday night, Romney was asked what he would have said if the president had brought up the controversial statements–which is when the GOP nominee went as far as to say he was "wrong."

He then argued that, if elected, he would represent all Americans, not just half. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/10/04/romney-on-47-comments-
i-was-completely-wrong/?hpt=hp_t2

Imagine that...Romney admitted he was wrong about something and the sky didn't fall or anything!

What do our Romney-defenders have to say about this, given they've been insisting all along that what he said was right?

Exactly. The latest right-wing meme is "I don't have any facts to back this up, but..."

And when you here one of these morons use such a disclaimer, it's invariably followed by some idiotic wild-ASSumption with no basis in reality. It's akin to when you hear someone say, "Well, I'm not a racist, but..." and you just KNOW they're about to spout off with some insanely racist bullshit.

The GOP and its followers are apparently living in a post-factual world. Reagan set the stage when he claimed that "facts are stupid things."

I think the source for this is Obama's autobiography where he describes his feelings as a 14 year old. The book is written in first person, so the right-whinge (nice one) can pull quotes from it and, well, whinge. Of course it is terribly shocking that a biracial child in the 70's would have any problem at all with white folks.

Unlike the Democrats the whole video was released. It's a 2007 video praising his racist "God Damn America" pastor, being critical of Katrina relief policies (in favor of a policy he voted against two weeks before), and talking in a southern accent about stopping support for whites in favor of helping only blacks.

The video was released before the debates and would have been bigger news if Obama hadn't got his ass kicked a couple nights later.

No toe sucking, but in depth discussion of the mind of Obama. ( Which is even more disgusting ) But far easier for you to dispute that which you'll not even watch, huh?

And while Dick Morris is fat, he's not Michael Moore fat. Not even close.

And Hero, per that 2007 speech, it gets even better ( or worse, for Obama )

Quote:

Innumerable facts, however, show that it is our Commander in Chief who is Phony in Chief. A classic example was his speech to a predominantly black audience at Hampton University on June 5, 2007. That date is important, as we shall see.

In his speech -- delivered in a ghetto-style accent that Obama doesn't use anywhere except when he is addressing a black audience -- he charged the federal government with not showing the same concern for the people of New Orleans after hurricane Katrina hit as they had shown for the people of New York after the 9/11 attacks, or the people of Florida after hurricane Andrew hit.

Departing from his prepared remarks, he mentioned the Stafford Act, which requires communities receiving federal disaster relief to contribute 10 percent as much as the federal government does.

Senator Obama, as he was then, pointed out that this requirement was waived in the case of New York and Florida because the people there were considered to be "part of the American family." But the people in New Orleans -- predominantly black -- "they don't care about as much," according to Barack Obama.

If you want to know what community organizers do, this is it -- rub people's emotions raw to hype their resentments. And this was Barack Obama in his old community organizer role, a role that should have warned those who thought that he was someone who would bring us together, when he was all too well practiced in the arts of polarizing us apart.

Why is the date of this speech important? Because, less than two weeks earlier, on May 24, 2007, the United States Senate had in fact voted 80-14 to waive the Stafford Act requirement for New Orleans, as it had waived that requirement for New York and Florida.

More federal money was spent rebuilding New Orleans than was spent in New York after 9/11 and in Florida after hurricane Andrew, combined.

http://spectator.org/archives/2012/10/09/phony-in-chief

Storybook - the only ones laughing off this video are fools and myrmidons for Obama, who are blindly whistling past the grave yard.

Boy, they really had to dig for that one...signs of desperation! As usual, FauxNews proclaims "breaking news" and makes a huge fuss out of a 2007 video--which they made a huge fuss of at the time. Ya gotta love it:
Quote:

Sean Hannity's Obama 'Bombshell' Draws Yawns; Juan Williams Says He's 'Playing A Race Card'

"It's a bombshell video that you will only see tonight on 'Hannity,' and it's one that could dramatically impact the race for the White House."

Well ... maybe not.

The video of Barack Obama speaking at a 2007 event wasn't exactly a "bombshell" -- it was open to the press and portions of it were covered by everyone from the AP to CNN to Fox News. Viewers didn't only see it on "Hannity," since it was also posted to the Daily Caller. They did get the exclusive sight of Sean Hannity and Daily Caller editor Tucker Carlson decrying the speech.

And, judging by the reaction, it seems unlikely that the video will "dramatically impact the race." Though many conservatives blasted Obama's rhetoric and his comments, news of the footage failed to jump to broader media circles -- something that will no doubt be interpreted on the right as another sign of pro-Obama bias.

More problematic for Hannity was the reaction of Tea Party-backed congressman Allen West. "I don't think it's going to really go anywhere," he told Greta Van Susteren, saying there was no apparent "so-what" moment in the speech.

Hannity's day-long hyping of the video drew a rebuke from guest Juan Williams later in his show.

"I love coming on your show Sean, because I've been here now for all these conspiracy theories," Williams said. Hannity said there was no conspiracy, that Obama was pushing racial divisiveness by talking about the federal response to Hurricane Katrina and the lack of federal money for black-owned business, and that he seemed like a different person because of his accent.

"You guys are playing a race card now," he said.

"Why are you protecting what should be condemned by everybody?" Hannity asked.

"Are you kidding me? I would condemn it in a second if I saw it in the way you are describing," Williams said. "When I see that you guys throw dirt and see what will stick. All you do is hope something's going to stick this time."

"You guys?" Hannity said.

Williams pointed out that George W. Bush himself had said that Katrina was rooted partially in racial discrimination. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/03/sean-hannity-obama-video-juan

JONGSSTRAW

These types of things have little or no impact on an election. This election is polling very close, and it will be voter turnout that determines the winner, not which way the un-informed undecided unlikely voters vote. Their impact, if any, is covered in the margin of error, so it comes down to party enthusiasm and turnout. If the 2008 demographics repeat, then Obama wins easily. If the 2008 models don't hold, then Romney has a fighting chance. When Tucker Carlson and Hannity roll this old stuff out it means nothing in the long run. It's a ridiculous distraction for any Republicans to take seriously, and frankly I wish they wouldn't play the character assassination game like their counterparts do. It's a game they can never win.

Oh, gawd, Mike, that last one is PRICELESS... crap...I'm still fucking laughing (and I'm not even stoned!!!). Tears coming out of my eyes...oh, shit...

Okay, trying to recover my balance here--that one just hit my funnybone SO hard, I'm still giggling...

Anway, my response (other than to bestow on you the prize for the first--AND BEST--good, hearty laugh of the day, because even Colbert can't POSSIBLY make me laugh harder tonight...) was to say "thank you", because I sat here with a furrowed brow trying to figure out what the HELL "Hero" was talking about, given how long that video's been around, been on TV, been on the INTERNET, how even I remember it being reported on (fully, unlike what he says) at the time, and how FauxNews reported it (this time) falsely as "breaking news", etc., etc. I couldn't figure out what he meant about the media not doing its job, the public not hearing about it, and so forth, when I--who NEVER watches FauxNews--was aware of it...

It also confused me when he said "they" had to dig around hard for it--he must have meant FauxNews' staff, because nobody ELSE had to, they shouted it from the rooftops the day they found it (and no doubt had an editorial board meeting to figure out how they could presente it as "breaking news", what parts of it to show, what to do so people thought it was NEW news, etc.). If by "we" he meant FauxNews, I really don't think they had much problem, just pushed that big, red button in the middle of the console that reads "Bad Stuff About Obama We've Collected Over The Years". If by "we" he meant himself and the other right-wing, hook-swallowing ignorants, THEY didn't have to dig for it either, FauxNews shoved it right in everyone's face. So I couldn't figure out what he meant...

So "thank you"...and double "thank you" for that last visual, which will stay with me (at least I finally stopped snorting!) for quite some time, and which I KNOW Jim is going to lose it over when he gets home and I show it to him tonight.

Carry on.

Okay, I gotta ask: What's "Ehrmagherd"? I thought it was just a non-word to indicate he didn't know which side he was on at any given time (which might actually be correct, from what we've seen!).

Note to anyone - Please pity the poor, poor wittle Rappyboy. He's feeling put upon lately, what with all those facts disagreeing with what he believes.
