Talking with a conservative: The Conservative Herp-Derp.

"I supported Bush in 2000 and 2004 and intellegence [sic] had very little to do with that decision." - Hero

"I was wrong" - Hero, 2012

Mitt Romney, introducing his running mate: "Join me in welcoming the next President of the United States, Paul Ryan!"

Rappy's response? "You're lying, gullible ( believing in some BS you heard on msnbc ) or hard of hearing."

Right on the mark!

But I must add -- Conservative (uncompassionate) Christians I know only
quote the "Old Testament." I don't think they ever read the New one or
care what Christ taught. They think Christ is the (only) way to Heaven.

Completely off the mark, on every count.

Middle Eastern men of TODAY are more backwards than Jesus of 2000 years ago.

Jesus wasn't white.

Long hair ? I guess Clay Matthews and Ted Nugent are gay ? Ooops.

No point in further dismantling this nonsense.

There's nothing left to see.

Yes, by definition, that IS what Christians think.

DUH!

What jesus really looked like - or at least a guess based on forensic research into the appearance of people of that time and region.

Golly, he probably wouldn't be allowed to get on a plane in the US.

JC didn't stone anyone, if we're to believe the magic bible. Nor did he saw any heads off. I think he's said to have cured some folks, and supplied a wedding w/ plenty of free wine. See any Muslims even attempting to mimic any of that ?

Could be that JC is more of a 'radical' to the ME today than he was, back in the day.

There is nothing kind to be said about this quote from AURaptor. His ignorance is appalling.

What are you blithering about?

He was CRUCIFIED!!! If you believe the Bible. DO you think life was pleasant back then? That only Muslims are responsible for the atrocities that have happened throughout history, that all Muslims are radical sociopaths - which must therefore include the young girl who was shot.

You do realise that you make no sense and that your arguments are all ill considered, illogical mishmash of soundbites from other right winged commentators.

There is no internal logic to anything you post. It's crazy stuff.

A Muslim girl is shot by extremists = therefore all Muslims are extremists = therefore anyone who complains about women's treatment in the US is a supported of the extremists who shot the girl.

Jesus didn't kill anyone = therefore actions by extremist Muslims demonstrate that Christianity is better than Isam = therefore all middle eastern men are more backwards than Jesus.

Just tell me how these arguments make even one grain of sense.

Are YOU a middle eastern man ? How is this an insult, in light of all the terrorism that's gone on in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Gaza, etc... and w/ state sponsored executions of women and gays in Iran?

Sure as hell it's necessary, because it's TRUE!

OONJERAH

"Out of Africa" Karen Blixen & Denys Finch Hatton discuss her new missionary school
for the native children who live on her farm land.

K: You don't think they should learn?

D: I think you might have asked them.

K: Did you ask to learn when you were a child? How can stories possibly harm them?

D: They have their own stories. They're just not written down.

K: And what stake to you have in keeping them ignorant?

D: They're not ignorant. I just don't think they should be turned into little Englishmen.

=============================

I go along with Denys. Just because someone can't read or lives in a grass hut doesn't
mean they are backward. For further enlightenment on this, see "The Gods Must Be Crazy."

NIKI2

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

Good ones, all, Mike, thanx for the giggles.

And yes, anyone who is surprised by the bullshit Rap spouts and feels the need to tell him what trash it is, is wasting their breath (typing?). We all know it, we all endure it, and responding to him just gives him attention and pretends we DON'T already know what to expect from him...or that it'll ever change.
Quote:

Middle Eastern men of TODAY are more backwards than Jesus of 2000 years ago.

That's as stupid a statement as was ever made. The VAST MAJORITY of Middle-Eastern men are intelligent, modern men; the fact that their religion dictates many things is different from how we think--different, not backwards. What many of them see what WE think is disgusting, like the sexuality of our culture, our advertising, etc.

Aside from all that, the comparison is just plain stupid. There are some in our culture who believe the world is 9,000 years old, etc., etc. The vast majority of Muslims don't believe that, nor does their religion state it:
Quote:

Islam does not have a set position on the actual age of the Earth, leaving such knowledge to God alone. The Quran does describe the creation of the universe in "six days," but then in other passages indicates that a "day" to us is different than a "day" in God's reckoning of time. (How is a "day" counted anyway, before the sun and earth even existed as they do now?) Basically there is a description of different "phases" that creation went through. Nobody knows the precise period of time and most Muslims accept modern scientific theories about the age of the Earth.
But do "most CHRISTIANS accept modern scientific theories about the age of the Eart?" As of June of this year:
Quote:

Forty-six percent of Americans believe in the creationist view that God created humans in their present form at one time within the last 10,000 years. The prevalence of this creationist view of the origin of humans is essentially unchanged from 30 years ago, when Gallup first asked the question. About a third of Americans believe that humans evolved, but with God's guidance; 15% say humans evolved, but that God had no part in the process.

Two-thirds of Americans who attend religious services weekly choose the creationist alternative, compared with 25% of those who say they seldom or never attend church. Highly religious Americans are more likely to be Republican than those who are less religious, which helps explain the relationship between partisanship and beliefs about human origins. The major distinction is between Republicans and everyone else; 58% of Republicans believe that God created humans in their present form within the last 10,000 years. http://www.gallup.com/poll/155003/hold-creationist-view-human-origins.
aspx

So more than HALF Republicans believe in creationism at this time in history, and it's remained pretty much unchanged for 30 years; my, aren't we progressive!

Then there's the stupidity of comparing ANY people to Jesus. NOBODY in the Christian faith would be comparable to Jesus, so why should anyone of any faith? The generalization is idiotic and ignorant, but by now we should be so accustomed to it that it shouldn't be worth our notice. Rap isn't capable of believing in anything except generalities, usually negative ones, and knows next to nothing about "Middle Eastern men" to begin with. So why bother? (I bother only to remind others, again, that taking him seriously or responding to him is wasting their time typing and ours reading, if we even bother.) Church and state are (supposed to be) separate in our culture; if they weren't, perhaps we'd still have stonings and witches being burned. The Bible is FAR more violent than the Q'ran, so if we went by its teachings, we'd not be much different from what is done in the Middle East. Even WITH separation of church and state, a some people here nowadays want religion to decide laws; but THEY do not represent all of us, any more than what we see on TV represents all Muslims, or all Middle Eastern men.
