Mitt Romney continues his rise, according to a Gallup poll released today that suggests he has a seven-point national lead over President Obama.

The tracking poll, which surveyed likely voters, put Romney ahead 52-45, Gallup said.

The Gallup poll, experts cautioned, is one of several that should be gauged to get an accurate assessment of the status of the campaign.

An ABC News/Washington Post poll of likely voters from Oct. 15 had Obama leading Romney 49-46.

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

That would really be useful information if we elected our president based on national numbers.

538.com has the electoral college votes at 289-249 for Obama, with Ohio still leaning blue.

Obama 208, Romney 330 – Electoral Landslide
Monday, October 8, 2012 15:52

Two political science professors, Kenneth Bickers of Colorado University-Boulder and Michael Berry of Colorado University Denver released their prediction of the 2012 Presidential election on August 22. The model they base this prediction on includes a complete economic picture from per capita income to unemployment both on a national and state level. This model has accurately predicted every Presidential election since 1980 including the popular vote victory of Al Gore and the electoral victory of George W. Bush in 2000.

The model does not just predict the popular vote like many but also a detail of the electoral college.

His latest post addresses the Gallup poll:

"The Gallup national tracking poll now shows a very strong lead for Mitt Romney. However, its results are deeply inconsistent with the results that other polling firms are showing in the presidential race, and the Gallup poll has a history of performing very poorly when that is the case."

It's not personal. It's just war.

And the polls have yet to really reflect the last debate.

Note to anyone - Please pity the poor, poor wittle Rappyboy. He's feeling put upon lately, what with all those facts disagreeing with what he believes.
