Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

I really like David Bowie's Space Oddity, and I can get past the 'stepping through', but when he calls it a 'doorway' it bugs me. It's a hatchway. And Elton John's Rocket Man talks about 'five days a week'. Dude, there ain't no days in space. (Also, it's probably not about a rocket man, but every time I hear it it reminds me of one of my favorite sci-fi books from childhood. )

Otherwise those songs would be perfect for me.

That's all.

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

Joan Baez's "Diamonds and Rust" always bugged me for a similar reason:

"And here I sit, hand on the telephone
Hearing a voice I'd known
A couple of light years ago..."

It's a unit of DISTANCE, dammit!

"I supported Bush in 2000 and 2004 and intellegence [sic] had very little to do with that decision." - Hero

"I was wrong" - Hero, 2012

Mitt Romney, introducing his running mate: "Join me in welcoming the next President of the United States, Paul Ryan!"

Rappy's response? "You're lying, gullible ( believing in some BS you heard on msnbc ) or hard of hearing."

America loves a winner!

They're artists. They have a license.

" I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend. "
