"The biggest scandal that President Barack Obama has to face is the question of what he was doing at the time the attack on the Benghazi consulate in Libya was occurring, Fox News commentator Charles Krauthammer claims.

For eight hours while four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens, were dying, Obama apparently did nothing except make one call to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Krauthammer told Bill O'Reilly.

And even that conversation did not appear to be about what help they could provide, but rather about what story to concoct about the assault.

"He had a routine meeting at five o'clock. He never after, during the eight hours when our guys have their lives in danger for, he never called the Secretary of Defense, he never called the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, he never called the CIA Director," said Krauthammer.

"Who does he call? About five hours in, he calls his Secretary of State. And after the phone call, she releases a statement, essentially about the video and how we denounce any intolerance."

He added, "It looks as if the only phone call was to construct a cover story at a time when the last two Americans who died were still alive and fighting for their lives. There is a scandal. And that, I think, has got to be uncovered."

Hmm, maybe.

I admit I don't know much about Benghazi, but it seems fair to put the blame on our government for what happened, and also to decry how political manuevering that makes the ground situation worse and threatens lives has become the primary focus in Washington. I'm not sure there's a conspiracy here still, but there is enough justification to be angry about four people dying.

Carry on.

As I hear it, he had 1 - ONE - phone call w/ SecState Hillary, and then told Panetta ( there for a pre-scheduled meeting ) that he and Hillary should " take care of it ", and then was AWOL for the rest of the night.

Obama then shows up in Vegas, the next day, ready to take donor's money.

Was he deciding what to wear , what to pack, and couldn't be bothered all night ?

The compound was not a State Department facility, it was a C.I.A. facility under their jurisdiction. For what I heard, if any Marines were stationed there they would be protecting classified documents and not personnel. The C.I.A. submitted the talking points to the State Dept.

People wake up!

"Charles Krauthammer, winner of the 1987 Pulitzer Prize for distinguished commentary, began writing a weekly column for The Washington Post in January 1985.

Krauthammer also won the 1984 National Magazine Award for essays

Meg Greenfield, editorial page editor of The Washington Post, calls Krauthammer's column "independent and hard to peg politically. It's a very tough column. There's no 'trendy' in it. You never know what is going to happen next."

A column, notes Krauthammer, is not just political philosophy. "Much of it has to do with common sense. One of my many missions is putting up a first-line defense against the various enthusiasms of the age – everything from the nuclear freeze to identity politics to the 'recovered memory' movement – which tend to roll over the culture at regular intervals."

Krauthammer was born in New York City and raised in Montreal. He was educated at McGill University, majoring in political science and economics, Oxford University (Commonwealth Scholar in Politics) and Harvard (M.D. in 1975). He practiced medicine for three years as a resident and then
In 1978, he quit medical practice, came to Washington to direct planning in psychiatric research for the Carter administration, and began contributing articles to the New Republic. During the presidential campaign of 1980, he served as a speech writer to Vice President Walter Mondale. He joined the New Republic as a writer and editor in 1980. He also writes essays for Time and the Weekly Standard. In 1997, the Washingtonian magazine named him among the top 50 most influential journalists in the national press corps.

Krauthammer lives in suburban Washington with his wife Robyn, an artist, and their son."

Show was never the same after Molly Ringwald left to act in movies. First "Spacehunter", then a bunch of teen stuff. Oh the career and fame she could have had if only she had stayed with Mrs. Garrett and Tootie.
