Quote:

Tea Partiers assembled for a conference call, who included “prominent conservative policymakers Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL)’s communications director Stephen Miller and Heritage Foundation research fellow Robert Rector":
Quote:

BOB FROM MAINE: I’m from Maine and our Tea Party will be meeting up next week. What is the best way that we can get our senator to listen to us?

ANOTHER CALLER: Shoot her. [laughter]

MODERATOR: Yes, we will shoot her with…(inaudible) and phone calls.

After the anonymous statement was made, no one on the call voiced their opposition. Instead, the threat was met with laughter and “oohs.” (At the time of the incident, Sessions’ communications director had apparently left the call.)

The senator being spoken of is Republican Senator Susan Collins of Maine. She’s also the highest ranked member of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, and the senior senator from Maine. As far as Republicans go, she’s one of the last of a seemingly dying breed: a moderate. She’s been repeatedly endorsed by the Human Rights Campaign, and some Republicans don’t appreciate her all that much due to a somewhat left-of-center voting record. Most people describe her as a bipartisan and centrist. You know, those people that America wishes made up all of Congress — or at least enough of it to make something useful happen.

The reason for the request to “shoot her” was her immigration reform stances. As part of comprehensive immigration reform, Susan Collins has stated that she supports immigration reform addressing the needs and rights of same-sex couples. That, and other ideals that are generally thought of as progressive, are bringing the ire of the Tea Party down on the Republican senator.

Of course, most rational people don’t jump to shooting someone as a way to coerce your opinion upon them. Leave that to the Tea Party. http://www.addictinginfo.org/2013/05/31/tea-party-suggests-us-senator-

Yes, Rappy, every right-wing teabagging idiot endorsed that, just like the ENTIRE "Left" thinks Obama's god.

Problem for you is, I've given far more evidence to support my view than some flippant, off hand remark.

AURaptor, you're an okay guy, but this is one of the many reasons people get frustrated with you around here.

Just as there is no amount of evidence that Niki can post that proves all tea-partiers think alike, there's no amount of evidence you can post that all left-wing types worship Obama.

However true it seems to you at this time, one exception disproves the rule. And if you'd take a look past the veil of "Everyone who is not a right-wing Fireflyfans poster is a terrible person" thing going on, you'd see a whole lot of exceptions.

I bet many TEA party folks think we're taxed enough already. Kinda the whole point of the TEA party point of view in the first place. But what I can't stand is Niki's obvious and disingenuous spin, in twisting a story of some lone ,random person making an off the cuff, flippant remark, and painting the entire conservative movement in lock step fashion.

Hard for dead folks to 'listen', now isn't it ? So the whole 'assassinate' meme Niki is fabricating is beyond asinine. And false.

If you can't stand such behavior, why do you so often engage in exactly that behavior, twisting "a story of some lone, random person making and off the cuff, flippant remark, and painting the whole [liberal] movement in lock step fashion"?

1) Niki isn't "fabricating" a "meme" here - look at the headline of the story she linked. They're not her words, they're the source's. Again, have you not done the same thing, ever?

2) Are you suggesting that if someone shoots a U.S. Senator, that's not an assassination attempt?

3) I note for the record that you at no point have said that the person suggesting a senator be shot to "make her listen" is asinine, or in any way in the wrong for making such a suggestion.

And I could run out all the "Kil Bush", "Shoot Bush", "Hang Bush", etc. comments one can find with a little Googling and start a thread titled "Democrats suggest Bush be killed".

And the Liberals here would note that the people who said those things are not ALL the Democrats, and don't reflect the feelings of ALL Democrats, while missing entirely the point that the words of one unknown person on a Tea Party conference call also do not reflect the feelings of ALL Tea Partiers.

First, the title was not my choice of words, it's the title of the article.

Second,
Quote:

After the anonymous statement was made, no one on the call voiced their opposition. Instead, the threat was met with laughter and “oohs.”

Given it's a TEA PARTY CONFERENCE CALL, the audience LAUGHED and NOBODY in the audience felt it worthwhile to say "Hey, maybe threatening to shoot a Congresswoman isn't such a great idea", that pretty much indicates that most of the audience (made up of Tea Partiers) had no problem with the statement. Simple as that.

As to the "Obama is a god to liberals" bullshit, here are a few liberals:
Quote:

"Is Obama the Liberal's god ?"

"No. He's a person, who I support relative to my other options politically. He's decent at his job and a majority of people think that. He isn't necessarily a beacon of liberalism, I'm much farther left-wing than him and would prefer him to be a bit less of a moderate. Why I would deify him, I don't know."

"Nope. He's just the candidate for the Democratic party. He's just as human as the rest of us."

"I have to laugh because ironically the only people who say that are republicans."

"Obama is not even a liberal... How could he be a God to the liberals?"

"Nope. Only conservatives make stupid claims like that."

"If he is, then at least they would have a living god. The god of the Conservatives seems to be Ronald Reagan and he has been dead for some time now."

"no, I'm an atheist. And Obama is a moderate. Thanks for playing though. You get one game every 4 years."

"No but this question is a prime example of why nothing gets dome in politics anymore." http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20121109203529AAUHZGj

I found that last one particularly on point.

Of course, one COULD ask if right wingers think liberals should be killed...

"We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed too. Otherwise they will turn out to be outright traitors." — Ann Coulter

Motivated by a desire to kill liberals and Democrats, gunman Jim David Adkisson fired a shotgun at members of the congregation during a youth performance of a musical, killing two people and wounding seven others. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knoxville_Unitarian_Universalist_church_s
hooting

“I tell people don’t kill all the liberals. Leave enough so we can have two on every campus — living fossils — so we will never forget what these people stood for.” -- Rush Limbaugh

These aren't just regular right-wing people, these are people who purport to speak FOR the right wing, and one who actually took action.

And of course, there's all the "regular" right wingers at "Eliminationism: Kill All Liberals":
Quote:

"To you leftists on this board, and I mean this very seriously. When do you FUCKS want to get it on? Hmmm?? Today good for you?"

"Yes, the left should be eliminated. They could and would not defend their own families, let alone fight their way out of a wet paperbag. There should be a civil war and I wonder who would win?! You can’t stop lead with death threats and little hate filled signs. Keep in mind that almost all of our military is “conservative”. Good luck pussies your going to need it!!!!!!!!!"

"Liberals are the enemy and should be snuffed out with every opportunity. If you know a liberal in your workplace work to get them fired. If you know a liberal-run business do what you can to run them out of business. Keep them stuck in their homes and in the virtual world where losers belong."

"All liberals should be killed with extreme prejudice. DIE NOW ASSHOLES!"

"In history, the left, i.e the communists and socialists, have have murdered hundreds of millions of people to affect their causes. These causes have all failed or are in the process of failing. One might think that killing off the influential members of the radical left would potentially save far more lives than the numbers of leftist that would need to be killed." http://fitnessfortheoccasion.wordpress.com/2007/03/13/eliminationism-k
ill-all-liberals/

There's more, but why bother?

But you posted it without comment. You know, sort'a like the folks on the Tea Party call didn't comment on the "You could shoot her" remark. Bet you giggled when you saw the title, too.

No, Geezer, that represents YOUR mentality. I'm horrified by what those statements represent, as well as by the fact that the audience LAUGHED. What it says about our society makes me sick inside, and is part of the reason I post this stuff: So people realize what's going on and what's accepted in some circles these days. The very LAST thing I find any of this is amusing.

I didn't comment because I didn't think it was necessary. It seems to ME that any human being would be mortified by the continued talk of killing people because we disagree with them. Nobody DOES seem to agree, here at least and thankfully; all that's happening is people are parsing it to say "it's not so bad" or "it's not all of them". Which is bad enough.

I'd guess they laughed because they knew it was a joke. I'd suspect that whoever said it was playing off the falsehood, spawned by folks like you, that the Tea Party would actually kill anyone who disagreed with them. After they get accused of it enough, they can either get angry, or laugh at it.
