They already have a bullshit trumped up charge for annoying a police officer. It's called "resisting arrest."

So, this is nothing new. All this does is add to the hold and sentence times that they can threaten someone with when they're trying to force a confession, and also threaten them with a life ending felony conviction.

"Annoying the Police is now a crime."

Not really.

First, this is just in New York state, not the U.S.

Second, The bill still has to pass the State Assembly and be signed by the Governor. Not sure how likely this is.

Third, your cite, RT.com, is a Russian propaganda mouthpiece, so taking with a grain of salt is advised.

Fourth, courts in the U.S. have determined that doing things like videoing police is legal. http://www.universalhub.com/2011/court-says-state-law-banning-recordin

And you base that claim on... ?

Rappy's response? "You're lying, gullible ( believing in some BS you heard on msnbc ) or hard of hearing."

By the way, annoying the police has been a crime for quite some time. They usually put it under the catch-all charge of "Disorderly Conduct." I've been arrested for that one before (the charges were dropped, of course). Apparently I have a knack for annoying right-wing authoritarians, and have been doing so pretty much non-stop for the last 35 years. :D

The fact that their website claims they, "...bring the Russian view on global news".

Unless you figure that Russia has a free press...at least among those that the government there hasn't assassinated.

Don't you live in Austin?

Democrat mayor?

It's difficult to find party affiliations for all the city council members, but those I can seem to be mostly Democrats.

Maybe you live in a suburb that's not in the city proper.

Let me know and I'll check out the government there.

You're making ASSumptions and jumping to conclusions again, aren't you?
