A nasty combination of heat and humidity will hug much of the eastern United States in a giant, sweaty embrace this week.

Temperatures in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest will reach the 90s for the next few days, but that's not the bad part. Heat indices are expected to soar well past 100 degrees, the National Weather Service said.

Your turn (my deepest sympathies). We're back down to normal "Summer", fog in and out, highs in the 70s and 80s. It's a blessing.

GRAWRGHH!

Tell me about it, prosthetics are NO fun in the heat, and the humidity is makin it that much worse since my extreme enviornments cooling vest works by evaporation and humidity sharply limits its effectiveness - thanks be for freezypops.

I took a pair of belts normally used to hold shotgun shells and strapped one at the waist, and the other one upsidedown at high chest level and loaded them eight-across with freezypops - kinda like the old cartridge fuse boxes, and then strapped the damn vest over THAT - luckily I have a full box of those frozen bastards cause each rack only lasts one round so I need 32 of em in total for the shift (pitching the melty ones back in the freezer cause, waste not, want not!), it's helping, but not nearly as much as I would like.

Another issue is that this is the time the pavement radiates back up all that heat it soaked in during the day, so at ground level you're getting it from both directions.
Not to mention dizzyness and nausea, held barely in check by yucky tasting electrolyte stuff, bleh.
