US Cites Al Qaeda in Global Terror Alert
State Department's alert stems from the same threat that led to closure of some US embassies.

Last time there was this sort of a warning issued was right before our embassy in Libya was attacked and our ambassador murdered.

I guess this means there's another anti-Muslim video out on Youtube somewhere, ready to cause havoc.

Seriously. If this was such a panic / crisis / BFD, why wait until Sunday to close the embassies ?

And this alert is to last for ALL of August, if not longer ?

( I'm SURE this has zero to do w/ the CNN report on Benghazi, right ? )

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

WTF are you talking about? Oh, wait- you don't know either. Nevermind.

But maybe it has to do with the prison breaks in Iraq and Pakistan. Or maybe it has to do with Snowden being granted temporary asylum. What better way to get the public screaming for more surveillance than by jacking up the threat level?

Actually, I do, as I posted the headline and link to a story that's been covered wall to wall on every damn news channel.

Prison breaks were quite recent, correct ? Seems a bit soon to start going Chicken Little and close almost every damn embassy across the M.E., no ?

Snowden ? Now he's a mad bomber too ? His release was on the promise that he'd NOT give out any more secrets. If the Russians wanted him to release stuff, why bother letting him out of the airport at all? Not sure you've thought that one through too well.

SO last time , it was Obama and/or Hillary's fault for doing nothing.

This time, they release a CYA alert, in case something happens, that they seem to think might.

Which after all is what a terror threat level warning IS: We think something might be gonna happen. But you don't like that either.

Just how are they supposed to respond to the "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?" dilemma you put them in? Besides O, Hillary, and John Kerry all resigning from public office and leaving town to go live in a cave somewhere?

The last part, unquestionably. ;o)

I'm not seeing any screaming and hollering, much less "wall-to-wall"...there's a global TRAVEL alert for Americans abroad ( http://abcnews.go.com/US/citing-al-qaeda-threat-us-issues-global-trave
l/story?id=19851452
) and they're closing the embassies on the last day of Ramadan, both due to "unspecified al Qaeda threat" ( http://worldnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/08/02/19834068-us-issues-world
wide-travel-alert-due-to-al-qaeda-threat?lite
), but that's been in the news for a few days now.

Maybe they're covering their asses after all the shit about Benghazi, maybe they know something, who knows? Haven't watched TV news lately, and there's nothing glaring on CNN, Time, CSM, ABC, NBC or CBS on the internet except what I mentioned above.

Even FauxNews only has it as a small headline, "US issues global travel alert over Al Qaeda threat, prepares to close embassies"

And the story Rap linked is only about the TRAVEL alert, and the text of it is really funky:
Quote:

US officials are raising red flags about a specific threat credible serious and clearly aimed at American interest in the Muslim world. Today the State Department issued a global travel alert due to an al-Qaeda terrorist threat. And beginning Sunday every embassy and consulate in Muslim countries that normally would be open will be closed from Egypt to Iraq Kuwait Bahrain and Afghanistan.

The department -- conditions warrant take steps like this to balance our continued operations. With security and safety. A senior US official told ABC news there is a specific threat.

A concerted effort against the US embassy or consulate we just don't know what the specific targeting its. Another US official added there could be other targets not just embassies. This is the first mass closing of diplomatic facilities due to an intelligence -- -- 2002 the first anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

Normally the decision to shut down operations at embassies -- made by an ambassador. At this time Washington is ordering the closures security considerations have let us. To take this precautionary step.

Looming large on many minds is last year's surprise attack on the US consulate in Benghazi Libya. Insurgents with ties to al-Qaeda -- killed the US ambassador in three other Americans. For now the embassy closures are just scheduled for Sunday but they could be extend -- US intelligence officials learn more specifics.

Along with, at the bottom: "This transcript has been automatically generated and may not be 100% accurate." Boy, you got THAT right, grammar, anyone??

So, just a thought on this whole matter...

Either Obama has come to the conclusion that, yes, Islamo-nutcase terrorism IS real, and despite what he claimed about al-qaeda being on the run ( as he just said 8 weeks ago ) OR, this is a whole wag the dog scenario, and Obama is exactly the same as Bush and Darth Cheney.

Hope and change, huh ?

Exactly. Benghazi was all Obama and Hillary's fault because they didn't do anything.

This is all Obama's fault for doing something.

There were warnings a plenty before Benghazi, and no, it wasn't just that it was 9- 11 , or that the compound had previously been attacked.

There was 'chatter', and what'd Hillary do ? Ignore calls for more security, and then " SOMEONE " called off any attempt at all to send in help.

It was both Hillary and Obama's fault for not doing something, before both lying about a Youtube video.

There were multiple advance warnings for such an attack, and this has been gone over many times before. But if you're not going to take my word for it, or any citations I offer, do your own research. But you'll likely believe the spin from Jay Carney ahead of anything else.

You cannot loudly and aggressively dismiss things people put because the source is "left-wing" slanted, and then put up BREITBART, of all things, with no actual, documented citation, and have any expectation of being taken seriously. But then, we realize you have no intention of being taken seriously.

Either it's the only "cite" (I use the word advisedly) you have, or you don't give a shit about being factual. Or, more likely, you're just continuing to goad by posting anything at all.

Next time don't use Breitbart and here is why. That article you post from that hack of the site says unequivocally that emails to the US government warned of an impending attack. Yet the CBS article Breitbart is getting it's info says that the emails "supposedly" warned of these attacks.

There's nothing wrong w/ Breitbart that isn't every bit as wrong w/ any other source. In fact, they're likely a whole lot better.

( Weather station at the N.pole now sits on open water as ice melts ? Remember that snafu by the msm ? Only it wasn't AT the N. Tis when folks are telling you what you wanna hear that you should be MOST skeptical, but not you, oh no, chug chug chug the koolaid motherfucker, cause you're just that dumb, just that gullible, and just that much of a goddamn LIABILITY because of it, that should they ever actually obtain power, you'll be first under the bus (rewarded as a traitor deserves!) because you're too stupid and gullible to leave laying around for some clever bastard like me to exploit.

No, holding everyone to the same standard. Frem going off is equally disgusting, but at least he doesn't do it consistently and unendingly, and HE never claimed "I said I'd TRY. ... Well, this IS me trying. All I did was respond.

And as for the other thread, it was about dealing w/ those who don't see eye to eye w/ you, NOT merely playing nice for the sake of it. It was about getting flat Earthers to come around and see things a different way, and not merely calling them idiots and gullible for holding their views

Here, there WAS no discussion going on about anything of real merit. I pointed out ( correctly ) that which ever news one decides to follow, mistakes will be made. Sometimes more than mistakes are made. Nothing I said remotely warranted the profanity laced tirade, and yet there's Frem being Frem, and you just causally dismiss it, out of hand.

But should I or anyone respond in 1/2 fashion , heavens! You shove a completely different issue back in MY face, and try to claim i'm the one being a hypocrite.
