"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)
Quote:While Colorado has legalized marijuana and other states are moving to decriminalize or legalize its use, Texas takes a hard approach to pot. That was more than evident in the tragedy surrounding the death of a two-year-old little girl named Alexandria Hill who died from injuries in an abusive foster home after she was taken away due to her parent’s use of marijuana. We have previously seen abuses of the child welfare system like the professor who had his custody taken away and was banned from his own home because his son unwittingly bought a hard lemonade rather than a regular lemonade at a Michigan football game. However, this case resulted in the death of this child who was first put through not one but two abusive foster homes. Joshua Hill does not deny that he would sometimes use pot after putting his daughter to bed. This might be viewed as a minor issue in most states, but not Texas. Authorities removed Alex from the home and sent her to a foster home where she was abused. On visitations, Joshua Hill would find bruises on her and there would be mold and mildew in her lunch box. Finally, Texas removed her to the foster home of Sherill Small. It would be a death sentence for the little girl.

Quote:A pair of Texas state troopers involved in an allegedly “horrific” hands-on cavity search of two women last summer have been indicted on criminal charges, according to reports. Former Trooper Kelley Helleson was charged with two counts of sexual assault and two counts of official oppression in the July 13 incident caught on a dashboard camera along an Irving highway, reported CBS affiliate KTVT in Dallas. The other trooper, David Farrell, was charged with theft after one of the women said her prescription bottle of hydrocodone went missing following the traffic stop near Dallas, according to KTVT. Farrell had pulled the women over after he said one of them flung a cigarette out of the car. He questioned the women about using marijuana and had Angel Dobbs, the driver, perform a sobriety test. She reportedly passed. The women also claimed that Helleson used the same latex glove to check both of their anuses and vaginas — all while other cars zipped past them on the public roadway. The women were eventually slapped with a warning for littering. Steven McCraw, the director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, was also named in the women's suit because he allegedly knew about other similar strip and cavity searches and failed to stop them. His department couldn’t be reached for comment Sunday. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/2-texas-state-troopers-indicted-roadside-cavity-search-article-1.1297749#ixzz2bD2BAQ8T]
Quote:"Texas troopers under fire for yet another roadside strip-search" The trooper claimed to smell marijuana in the car and called a female trooper to search the women’s body parts for drugs, despite numerous pleas from the ladies. “The male officer, his words verbatim were, ‘We’re gonna get familiar with your womanly parts,” Hamilton told KXAN. “You’re going to go up my private parts?” a surprised Hamilton asked trooper Jennie Bui, who responded with “Yes, ma’am.” The trooper’s dash camera recorded the roadside cavity search and depicts Hamilton’s alarmed expression as the female trooper touched her ‘private parts’ and inserted a finger into her genitalia. The trooper used the same pair of gloves to search the genital regions of both women. Randle can be heard crying uncontrollably as she is probed. “She just came right over and there was no switch out of anything, which is disgusting,” Randle told KTRK, noting that she considers this a case of molestation. “Do you know how violated I feel?” Hamilton told the female officer during the 40-minute traffic stop. No drugs were found, but the women were given a ticket for possession of drug paraphernalia. Turner claims he found a piece of a smoked blunt in the car. “Don’t smoke weed in your car and you won’t have to go through this,” Turner told the women at one point during the search. The women claim to be traumatized by the incident, especially since it took place in broad daylight, on the side of a highway, in full view of three sheriff’s deputies. http://rt.com/usa/texas-troopers-cavity-search-709/

Quote:Supreme Court: Strip Searches Constitutional For Minor Offenses The Supreme Court said in a new ruling that conducting strip searches for minor offenses is constitutional. This permits police officers to conduct strip searches as part of routine procedure. Texas residents could now conceivably experience this humiliating practice for something like being pulled over on suspicion of drunk driving. Many courts state that strip searches are unconstitutional for minor violations unless there is individualized suspicion. This ruling by the Supreme Court appears to allow strip searches with no suspicion at all. http://dwi.dfwattorneys.com/Articles/Supreme-Court-Strip-Searches-Constitutional-For-Minor-Offenses.shtml

Yeah verily, Mikey, between the idiocy of the "War on (some) Drugs" and the TexASS Foster Care System, there's misery a-plenty there, and of course let's not forget the tremendous amount of juvies chucked in facilities cause of everything from curfew and school uniform violations to, obviously, possessiong of a little weed, and that TexASS has one of the highest rates of abuse in the nation within those facilities. Fact: The state you live in is a pisshole, man. -F
