Appearing on This Week With George Stephanopoulos, Republican Congressman Louie Gohmert battled not only the Democratic panelists but also conservative pundit George Will over the wisdom of shutting down the government to prevent Obamacare funding.

Gohmert strongly condemned President Barack Obama’s argument at Friday’s news conference that the GOP’s “holy grail” was enying millions of people health insurance.

“That’s a false narrative,” Gohmert said. “He says we’re trying to keep people from having health care. That’s just not true. That is an absolute, blatant lie. We’re not trying to keep anybody from getting health care. Whether or not they have insurance under an exchange or not does not prevent people from getting health care.”

Will reminded Gohmert that however much the congressman disliked Obamacare, the GOP’s power to stop it was limited. “The narrative will be that the Republicans have chosen simply to cause chaos. It’s a bad idea…You cannot govern this country from one-half of one of our three branches of government. Can’t be done.”

“Even though we’re one-half of the legislating body from which no spending occurs unless we agree, that is a position that allows us to force others to adhere to the Constitution,” Gohmert replied. “We don’t have to wait for the Supreme Court. We can force that. And we can say, ‘You’re going to abide by the Constitution whether the Supreme Court gets it wrong or right.’ We have the ability to force respect for the law. And some of us think that we ought to force them to do that.” http://www.mediaite.com/tv/george-will-slams-rep-gohmert-for-causing-c

Confusing: They have the ability to "force respect for the law" and he and his buddies think they have the right to do so. The ACA is the law of the land, so...huh? Oh, yeah, "whether the Supreme Court gets it wrong or right".

Seems to me that for a few years now, they HAVE been "governing" the country "from one-half of one of our three branches of government", at least insofar as NOT "governing", not allowing the government to deal with the important issues the country faces, and instead forcing the government to focus on their own agendas. Of course, they've had help from one of the other of the three branches in the Supremes... Maybe it's 'cuz they DIDN'T get the help they expected from that other branch, on the ACA, that he thinks they have the right to govern all by themselves...?
