Is FREM having an autoimmune attack? Anybody know?

And, where is KWICKO? Been gone for quite a while.

And KIKI. What gives?

I talked to Frem last weekend, think he's okay as he gets, just busy. Though the insurance companies have been measing with him again.

Don't know about Kwicko, maybe I'll send an email.

You'd know better than I would about kiki.

Glad to hear Frem is okay. Hope Kwick and Kiki(Niki?) are too...

You didn't ask, but I'm kinda not here much anymore. Spending time on the dog carting site, much nicer there, and every time I try to come here, it just doesn't seem to be worth going into the threads, I know what I'll read from the titles, so it's kinda like "why bother?" No idea what's up with Kiki or Mike; Mal4's feeling pretty much the same as I, and busy with school.

I'm sorry, but I had to chuckle at that one a bit.

Not here " as much " isn't the same as not being here.

Or, simply, no one noticed you were gone.

KIDDING!

Busy fighting with the healthcare/insurance hassle, here's a useful relevant link for ya.
http://www.truecostofhealthcare.org/

Been training (mostly FIRING, but occasionally training) some newbies to pick up the slack, and making sure we don't wind up with nutters on the payroll, yadda.

That and adding some tech tricks to take the physical load off me a little, one of which is a game camera hidden in a birdhouse running off building power and running a re-write cycle to the memory card so they can pull it if an incident happens and there might be useful footage on it.

Another is my apparently hellspawned LBV2 quadcopter camera drone, which was really just a prelude (it came with the Devo F4) to THIS little bastard, which was a hassle to get my hands on, but well worth it.

(pardon the awful, awful music)

Here's some "on board" footage from someone elses.

I am using an upgraded 1600ma battery and plan to refit the antenna soon to get it above ground clutter, as the current dual antenna is just string-wire taped down to the back deck.
And I slapped a light bar to the front bumper with packing tape.

Control (on 2.4Ghz) range seems to max out at around 110yards, but the Video (on 5.8Gz) is right now only like 125 feet or so, mostly due to ground clutter, thus the need for an improved antenna.

The camera is pretty good, has onboard recording capability to an 8Gig microSD card, glare shield, and resolution of 1280x720 and the video signal also ports to a 3x5 LCD screen on the Devo F4, which can then be ported to a monitor and DVR here in the office, so once it has "seen" you, that's yer arse.

Pretty quick on its feet speedwise, and it can climb inclines, over tree roots, through 3-4 inch grass, dirt and sand, even jump the lower (3 inch) curbs around here without a blink, and battery life is in the 35-45min range even at full honk, which with extra batteries is nice.

The camera only rotates about 45 degrees horizontally, but lookin at the mount and wiring I might be able to improve that, and might put a launch pad on the back deck so I can drive it out, switch to the LBV2 and launch it if needs be.

What I'd like to do, which'll require a ham license (workin on it) is to put a full size transmission aerial on the office roof and a couple repeaters on the buildings wired into the floodlight power, so it can cover the whole complex from the comfort of the office - as in I can still be effective even if I am stuck in a damn wheelchair.

Further on I might replace the body shell with something more appropriate, and maybe upgrade to an F7 or such for more servos, cause I'd really like to add flashing lights and a nice loud siren to it just in case (mainly to freak out creepers) - also gonna look into a larger or upgraded battery system since I fully intend to replace the taped on lightbar with mounted lights wired directly into the main power supply.

Still - even as is, the local yahoos are totally creeped out by it, especially since there's maybe this wee little rumor getting about that it just MIGHT be armed with a C2 Taser unit...
(It's not, but let them believe that!)

I certainly wanted to get my hands on at least some basic UAV/UGV tech before chronic do-gooders enable a whole bunch of maliciously expensive legal hassle, as they are won't to do, FEMA grounded some drones which were actually HELPING out in Colorado during the floods, which was a dick move, as they were operating below the hard deck of the rescue choppers anyways.

Of course, there's also THIS problem!

I'm a lot less nice about it through, I've run over one of them little yappy dogs already and sent him cryin back to his owner, who (by the rules) SHOULD have had the little git on a leash anyways.

I think Kwicko's probably busy with work. I vaguely remember some stuff about more responsibilities or a larger work load.

Or...
I think like me he's partial to using the "blu" site, which hasn't been put on the cloud yet; and maybe every time his bookmark takes him to a "blank" page (Cannot dispay webpage), he thinks the whole site is down. I know I did for a while.

Or...
Between the lull in new Jossverse or alumni works, the boring shitty world on which we live, and that a lot of other cool people from years past are dormant; there's not a lot to want to post here about.

All speculation of course.

Hi FREM!

Glad to hear from ya. My imagination was running pretty wild.

Health care. What an effing money-suck. I don't know who I'd line up first- bankers, insurers, or politicians.

Cool car, I like your ideas.:-) Too bad you can't electrify the whole thing- give any dog/ person a significant jolt if they try to pick it up. But it's got a plastic body I assume so... no go.

No need, both the residents and locals aren't going to touch or interfere with it, all of em are familiar enough with my tricksy ways to be leery of what capabilities it might have, and my (played up on purpose) vicious overreaction response to "problems" makes it a dead letter.
Also noteworthy is that the biggest dogs are often the biggest wimps, the larger dogs are afraid of it, it's the yappy mutts over by building #7 which'd be the problem, and one of THEM is now horrified of it - meh.

Not sure I'd need a speaker (though the camera does have an audio pickup) since its mere presence is very much an implied threat, but on the helpful side I did manage to "communicate" with it today - was running it around the side of the building cause someone set off a smoke alarm and I wanted to make sure the building wasn't on fire, and since I was in the chair without my leg on I just shoved it out the door and sent it round... no biggie, cooking incident, no worries...
And on the way back the older lady on the corner calls out to it (which I hear through the earpiece) so I pull up and she asks if I have an inkpen, so I pan the camera up and down, and she asks to borrow it, so I bring it back, scotch tape a pen to it and ran it over to her - much to her amused delight.
