This is ridiculous. Did this dude never see First Blood? Most wounds you can tend to yourself. If you're not gushing blood or screaming in agony, NEVER go to an ER.

That's pretty unbelievable. A few years ago I was "in between" healthcare coverage. My ears got stuffed up to the point where I almost couldn't hear. Like an IDIOT, I walked into the ER at Cleveland Clinic Hospital in Weston, Fla. for treatment. Turns out it was just a wax buildup, and they cleaned it out, gave me some ear medicine, and let me go. The "bill" at the desk was $150 and I paid it without hesitation. But it didn't stop there. Over the next few weeks I got bills from doctors, bills for the medicine, bills for the hospital facility, etc. All told it came to about a thousand dollars! Lesson learned.

At my present job a couple of years back I cut my finger almost to the bone, and I told my boss that I couldn't get it to stop bleeding and that I'd take care of it at home. He said no way, company insurance policy says you have to go to the ER right now. Whatever- I drove directly there. When I showed up they were ready for me since my company insurance peeps had called ahead. Then they hand me this form to sign, and at a quick scan it had language in it concerning MY responsibility for 'certain' fees under 'certain' conditions... well I refused to sign, and they told me it was just a formality. I told them since it was just a formality they could easily skip it. They said I had to sign or they wouldn't treat my wound (which was now dripping on their floor). I said "Okay" and stood up to leave. They asked me where I was going and I said CVS to get butterfly bandages. Another ranking dude came out & asked me not to leave (I guess they feared that I might get infected and come back at them with a lawsuit or something). Bottom line- I signed nothing & had them basically do what I could have done for myself (Minus the Tetanus shot I really didn't need). What a fucking waste of ninety minutes. At least I got away without a bill.

You might enjoy this is all ... Bruce Lee choreographing the fight scene between Nancy Kwan and Sharon Tate in "The Wrecking Crew".

God, Sharon Tate. What a monstrous tragedy.
