I'm not so sure it's a bad deal. It would result in America being energy independent. Yes, we'd buy all our oil from some corporation, but at least it would be an american corporation and american oil and we wouldn't have to pretend that saudi arabia had no human rights abuses. Secondly, it would take away the excuse for wars in the middle east. Third, it would make living in Alaska suddenly look a lot more attractive (wish i were less sick.)
