In 1976 the GOP Convention gave Reagan the votes for nomination, but Ford was defacto ruler of the GOP, and quashed that movement, thereby ensuring Carter winning the election. Ford's ego derailed America for more than 4 years beyond.

Assuming Trump is still alive in 2020, what part of the GOP would support him? It may be the most vigorous challenge in GOP Primaries of an incumbent in a long time.
Will this prove fortuitous for Dems or another party?
Disastrous for the GOP?
Or will lifelong Liberal Democrat Trump run as the head of his own party?
