No, but you can put closed captioning on to see the text.

I love in her description how she put "some sources;" and followed that up with about 40 links.

Yeah, her twitter handle is often 'June', but that can change almost on a daily basis.

YouTube her @ Shoeonhead. Kinda an odd name, and I can't recall if I heard her explain where it came from or not, but either way, she's certainly unique. Her RL b/f ( I think they're engaged ? ) is Armored Skeptic, also on YouTube. He's got some really cool vids, but they don't come out all that often.

'Shoe' sorta reminds me of a young Sarah Silverman, before she stopped being funny. Not that Shoe is an actual comedian, but she's got real personality. And a sense of humor, which apparently Sarah no longer possesses.

Yeah. Skeptic's not bad either. I don't think I'm subscribed to him though. I try to keep my political subs to a minimum and I prefer Sargon and Vernaculus's stuff to his. Not that his stuff isn't good. Just a matter of taste.

I see the parallels with Sarah Silverman. She used to be a badass on the comedy scene in the early 2000's. Somebody sucked all the funny out of her now though.

Both Kimmel and Sarah, who use to be quite the couple, came out bitter and unfunny after their split. Now that i think about it, it follows a pattern I've seen for 20 years or more. Young, scrappy and talented comedians , all edgy and full of independent thought and free thinking, get success, then conform to hard core Leftist ( join us or you're a Nazi ) mindset. Kinda depressing, to be honest.

That's what Lindsay Shepherd was talking about in her video when she said the Left is "intolerant of diversity of thought, they are humorless people and they want to make society boring and they want to make it so that no one can do so much as make a joke. If you are not on their side 100%, they will slander you mercilessly."

I'm hoping that Lindsay keeps teaching and doesn't leave that field. It's important for there to be professors like her and Jordan Peterson in our colleges not only for the kids, but to show others in the teaching field that it's okay to not conform. There is almost zero diversity of thought on college campuses today and I think it would be a shame if she ended up just another talking head somewhere instead of teaching after all this settles.

Is this post about Wages? Or has it wandered off into bashing professors and Democrats? Getting back to wages, there is an article written by real professors of economics:

More and more companies have monopoly power over workers’ wages. That’s killing the economy.

www.vox.com/the-big-idea/2018/4/6/17204808/wages-employers-workers-mon
opsony-growth-stagnation-inequality

The trend can explain slow growth, “missing” workers, and stagnant salaries.

Quote:

In our working paper, we take a first cut at estimating the effects of monopsony on both employment rates and wages. Employment, we calculate, is 5 percent to 18 percent less than it would be in a competitive market. (Here is Marx’s reserve army of the unemployed.) This effect can explain all of the decline in employment rates among prime-aged men observed by labor economists.

The results for wage rates are even more disturbing. Given the way our economy works historically, labor’s share of economic output should be about 74 percent if labor markets were perfectly competitive. Because of employers’ power to drive down wages, labor’s share of economic output falls to somewhere between 51 percent and 64 percent. This transfer significantly increases income inequality.

Haha! You should be a comedian Jack! What do you know about what’s going on on college campuses? You Too funny!

Silverman and Kimmel grew up - maturity has a way of making a person think outside of themselves and consider others.

I've got two brothers who just got out of college recently and I've hung out with them and their friends quite a few times, for starters.

Aside from that, it's not exactly as if the Colleges are keeping it a secret what their M.O. is. The disciplinary actions taken against Lindsay Shepherd that she had recorded the meeting was excellent evidence of what is going on. It's even worse in Canada where there is no right to the Freedom of Speech and what is being done to Jordan Peterson.

I was under the impression the OP and the whole thread was about belittling professors, Democrats, Libtards, Snowflakes, and other delusionals.

That an entire thread could escape the comprehension of second is, well, unsurprising.
If an observer were to ponder why second did not post this in an Evidence thread, or Federal Spending thread, or Elections thread, there would be no valid response.

For posterity, from the link JewelStaiteFan won't click before giving another ignorant opinion: To put this into more concrete terms, consider the market for nurses. The median wage for a nurse is about $68,000. Given what we know about the labor market power of medical institutions, the true competitive wage for a nurse would be at least $90,000. However, because most areas have few hospitals, they can suppress nurses’ wages without worrying that nurses will move to a rival hospital. Some nurses will drop out of the labor market entirely, but the hospital still earns a greater profit by shrinking its operation and cutting wages dramatically.

For the labor market as a whole, the median annual compensation is $30,500. If markets were competitive, we estimate that this amount could rise to $41,000.

Why isn't it competitive? Two main reasons.

1. Outsourcing.

2. Automation.

Don't know what the fix to that is until everybody else is just as expensive as our labor is. But by that time it will cost $100 bucks for a t-shirt.

There is no wage gap.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

The youtube video has references. I’ll check the first one:

www.consad.com/content/reports/Gender%20Wage%20Gap%20Final%20Report.pd
f

“The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.” So Little Miss “but, muh wage gap-" didn't actually read the reference because it is not there, but I know how to find it from the title. And it does NOT say what she says it says.

It is at https://goo.gl/2ZuKpH

Click the link, go to Summary and Conclusions, the last paragraph, which is on page 36:
Quote:

As a result, it is not possible now, and doubtless will never be possible, to determine reliably whether any portion of the observed gender wage gap is not attributable to factors that compensate women and men differently on socially acceptable bases, and hence can confidently be attributed to overt discrimination against women. In addition, at a practical level, the complex combination of factors that collectively determine the wages paid to different individuals makes the formulation of policy that will reliably redress any overt discrimination that does exist a task that is, at least, daunting and, more likely, unachievable.
Translated that from weaselly words to English: There is a wage gap but we are claiming it is impossible to prove it is overt discrimination. Even if you could prove overt discrimination, and we still claim it can't be done, formulation of policy is impossible.

In other words, this fucking worthless 2009 report does not say what Little Miss “but, muh wage gap-" claims it says. Sadly, George Bush’s Dept. of Labor paid for this damn thing. They got what they wanted: “It is impossible to prove overt discrimination and impossible to do anything about it even if you could prove it. In Our Humble Opinion.”

If you want to ask about Denmark in 2018, the answer is there is almost no wage/gender gap. How about the USA in 2018? The records aren’t good enough to say anything worth saying about the cause of the gap, much like in 2009. More research is necessary.

Yes, there is.

It's obvious you are just really really jealous that some women are what you see as "taken care of". Why don't you go find a nice rich psycho and offer to be a househusband rather than sit around and debate something you are too stupid to understand the basics of??

You can clean a house and make all the meals and take care of the lawn and the bills and the hundred other things for the rest of your life in exchange for "room and board" right??

If it sounds so great, you really ought to give it a try...

6/The-Wage-Gap-Affects-What-Women-Earn-The-Health-Gap-Affects-How-They-Live

Healthcare Research: Women have different risk factors for certain diseases, and may also respond differently to various treatments and medications. However, until the 1990s, there was no requirement to include women in clinical trials, which means that many prescription drugs and treatment protocols still used today have been disproportionally studied on men and not designed to meet women’s needs.

Cardiac Health: Each year heart disease kills more women than men, but women continue to be under-represented in cardiovascular research, representing only 35 per cent of patients in heart disease research. Furthermore, research has shown that following a heart attack, women are 36 per cent less likely to enroll and participate in cardiac rehabilitation because it is not offered as an option to many women for a variety of reasons, including societal presumptions or cultural biases. WCH researchers also found that distance and transportation issues are significant barriers to women’s participation – of patients studied, 26 per cent listed these factors as specific challenges to starting cardiac rehabilitation.

Mental Health: Women experience depression twice as often as men and are three times more likely than men to experience barriers to accessing mental health care. Also, the prevalence of mental health issues during the reproductive life stages (such as menstrual cycle, pregnancy, postpartum and menopause) adds to the complexity of care and treatment for women. Yet, most mental health research and therapy is based on the male experience.
Chronic Conditions: Women generally live longer than men and are more likely to suffer from multiple, co-occurring chronic conditions. The number of women aged 80 and older reporting two or more chronic conditions is twice as high as the number of older men. Women are also more likely to report severe and long-lasting pain, but are typically treated less aggressively than men. Doctors approach women’s pain as psychological or psychosocial and are more likely to refer women to a therapist rather than a pain clinic.

Social Determinants of Health: Social determinants of health, including factors like income, employment status and housing, all influence a person’s risk for disease or injury and women are even more vulnerable to these affects. Women who live in low-income, marginalized and disadvantaged communities report higher instances of hypertension, arthritis, diabetes, heart disease and substance use issues. Women in these communities also face stigmatization and significant barriers accessing health services and attending appointments because of cultural or social circumstances that make it more challenging for them to talk freely about their health conditions.

Btw, I guess I should thank you somewhat...I have given my kid a list of things inspired by the Rethugs here to completely avoid when she dates...

Dumbass things like not understanding feminism or the wage gap, anyone that says "pull up by the bootstraps" in any configuration, anyone that uses juvenile terms about a woman's appearance while inferring her worth is somehow related to her looks, anyone who routinely uses the phrase "gold digger" or "nigger" just to get reactions out of people, anyone whose life goals include drinking until their brain rots, or sitting on their asses complaining about people they think have something better than them...

The other day she said she doesn't think gender is all that important in a relationship... as long as someone loves me for me, she said.

My one wish left in this life is that she finds someone who deserves her.

It ain't gonna be a Rethug, that much is for sure and for certain!

You can clean a house and make all the meals and take care of the lawn and the bills and the hundred other things for the rest of your life in exchange for "room and board" right??

If it sounds so great, you really ought to give it a try...

Why would I need to put up with somebody else's daily shit and the massive amounts of depression that women go through that you just posted about for room and board? I own my own house. Already got room. I can work 6 days out of the month and pay for all of my bills.

No thanks. The only reason that men have to work 1/4 as hard as they do in their life is because of women.

I'm living the dream, babe.

That report commissioned by Bush https://goo.gl/2ZuKpH said that overt discrimination against women could not be proved. The part that can't be proved, Bush's paid stooges wrote, is that it is overt. In other countries, the government collects enough data to prove the point. Not the USA and that is deliberate policy. The GOP does not want to know, which makes it easier for Trump voters to falsely claim they do know for a certainty what they can't possibly know.

The report only looks at available numbers and can't look inside brains at the real motives of the people setting the wages. The report writers were not stupid enough to claim that all women in the same job as men were paid the same. 6ixStringJack is that stupid, but he is not in the business of writing smart reports that he gets paid for by the Republicans. Those writers want more business in the future and they won't get it if they displease the GOP, but they are not willing to fake their data. 6ixStringJack will fake data with his claim that "There is no such thing as the Wage Gap." and "There is no wage gap. Not even going to debate about it."

The Bush administration did not want to take action and the report covers that, without proof that action is impossible: The formulation of policy that will reliably redress any overt discrimination that does exist is a task that, at least, is daunting and, more likely, unachievable. The report writers were paid and all the Republicans were made happy.

That study is already out of date. Since then, more women have gotten college and advanced degrees, and have accumulated longer work histories, leading to the need for all-new statistics.

So anyway ... anyone up for a rational, fact-based, and civil discussion about the topic?

You can't prove that. During the 8 years under Serial Sexual Assault Perp BJ Clinton, he never Commissioned a study, so there is no proof. During the 8 years under Obama, he never Commissioned a study, so there is no proof.

So the only President of the past 3 decades who apparently cared about the subject was Bush, and when be Commissioned a study, the delusions of Feminazis did not appear in the results. So you cannot prove that the nonexistent figment does not exist. The Democraps don't even care enough to look into it, likely because they know it doesn't exist.
Apparently the only way for Feminazis to prove it is to continue to ignore it.

You know, I can see why you think there isn't a wage gap. When you only work grave-digger minimum wage jobs, everyone you work with gets about the same.

You realize we're talking adult jobs, right? Not something any 18 yr old kid can get... Not entry level shit...

Women made about 80 cents for every dollar earned by men in 2015, according to U.S. government data.

If there is no wage gap, home come they have to make court rulings to stop it? Because dense morons like YOU think it doesn't exist and has no impact because you have a rusty penis so you think it doesn't apply to you.

That's not a wage gap. When people like you present this factoid, they do it disingenuously as if to say that women are paid 80% of what men get paid for the same job.

You never present in your argument that on average men work higher paying jobs, work more dangerous jobs, work more hours than women and (at least in the past) had more education than women.

As of now, more women are getting a higher education than men are, so step one complete. You go girl. Well, not you specifically with your uneducated self, but maybe your daughter.

Now so long as they are getting the right education to move into these positions, then you shouldn't have to create laws that give jobs to unqualified women.

There is no wage gap.

I'm fine with my life. There's nothing ridiculous about working in retail in your 30's in 2018. Practically half of the country is doing it today, and you're insulting all of them.

The only difference between me and most other people my age doing it is that I owned my house free in clear when I was 32 years old. I don't have any debt and I can afford to work a few days a week where I get a workout and maintain a figure that I haven't seen since my mid-twenties.

My old man is fine with how I live my life, and even if he weren't, I couldn't give a shit less. Making what he's made, he'd have 10 million bucks in the bank right now if he hadn't married two women and had 5 kids.

Enjoy your 40 hours a week, and do try to have a life in between long work hours, all of your financial woes, trying to figure out how to put your daughter through college, putting up with all of the drama with your husband that you bitch about and just being your overall miserable pilled-up degenerate self Wishy. :)

Using only the words of the link as basis....

Anybody find it curious that the same Libtards that demand Union Pay devoid of merit also demand that unqualified unmerited women leapfrog over any diligent workers?
No wonder they see Immigration the way they do. The very concept of only Criminals being given Amnesty, leapfrogging over merited qualified Immigration Applicants who have patiently waited in queue of the legal and lawful Immigration Process for decades - this makes perfect sense to them. Only the least qualified should get the Jobs. Or the Immigration slot.

Also, is it misogynistic to suggest that hairstylists need not earn the same rate of pay as high-rise Steel Workers?

Still No Wage Gap.

I have a proposal that I think would settle this. Simply require that all applications and CVs be scrubbed of any reference to sex - or race, age, ethnic background etc for that matter - or any way to guess the same, such as name - before being submitted for evaluation. And so as to not unconsciously bias the evaluators, rather than give the applications identities like 1, 2, or 3, or A, B, or C, for example (do you really ant to be F?), give them randomly assigned strings of symbols. Then let the evaluators do their thing. For interviews, put them in a separate room where they can hear the questions, but the interviewers get the answers by computer translation to text.

This will work well to blind screening for knowledge content.

Now, some jobs might need manual dexterity tests, or physical capability tests. That's even easier to blind, since all you need to test is the starting point, and the completed task. Jobs which require a portfolio are also easy to blind. So physical capability is also blinded.

What more could anyone ask for?

I'm alright with going 100% blind for these things Kiki. The problem is that the people who are demanding all sorts of concessions being made are not looking for equal opportunity, but equal outcome.

We'll have to wait and see what happens when more organizations start going blind, but initial results of this practice do not seem to have the "desired" results.

Also. Since there is more women than men going to college and getting higher education today, shouldn't we be doing what needs to be done to ensure that an equal number of men are being represented in college?

I don't ever hear that being brought up.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

From your link:

"The landmark study throws doubt on several trials launched by state Government's and individual departments.

Last year, the Australia Bureau of Statistics doubled its proportion of female bosses by using blind recruitment."

It talks about 'several' trials - which I take to mean more than 5 or 6 and less than a dozen - and says the one new study "throws doubt" on the several trials. I presume the results of the trials were positive, which is why this new study was so surprising.

I don't think this one study is the final answer. It may not even be an answer at all.

Well I did say that we'd have to wait and see, didn't I?

All I'm saying is that there will never be a 50/50 split no matter how you go about it, short of making strict laws that mandate an absolute intersectionally diverse group that is strictly enforced at every company for every position.

I'm fine with blind hiring/raise practices being utilized.

I'd just like to get the rules of the game set so we know where we stand. Right now, and for quite some time, it seems that the rules just constantly change in favor of anybody who isn't a white male.

The question is, what are we really looking for here?

Equal Opportunity, or Equal Outcome?
