The most serious and coordinated attempt was trying to smear Trump with some sort of Russian collusion charge. This went all the way back to MI6 and Christopher Steele, who wrote a fairy tale about "golden showers" and "kompromat" in order to surveill the Trump campaign. These (false) allegations were leaked to the press by our deep state, and recycled ad nuaseum thru the M$M and the Mueller "investigation" (who btw failed to interview any of the key players, like Assange, Steele, Mifsud etc). Let's not lose sight that this was precipitated by Hillary and Obama. Well, that failed (altho to this day there are still people who're suffering from paranoid PTSD because of this disinformation campaign)

And then there was the "Trump is a racist" campaign because he wanted to block people from wartorn jihadist-ridden nations, which couldn't validate identitification documents if their lives depended on it (which, often, it did). I think most people saw this step as a reasonable security measure, tho, so this died a quiet death.

The "racist" campaign was recycled ad naseum because Trump wanted to build a border wall, and the "resistance" was so overwrought about this issue they wound up supporting the "rights" of illegal immigrants over the rights of American citizens. Since most people really don't want to extend benefits (like free health care) to a flood of illegal migrants when all Americans don't have health care, this too died a quiet death.

Let's interpolate the Kavanuagh hearing, which may have started with a grain of truth (Kavanaugh got drunk when he was a student) but was whipped up into a froth of 99.9% hysteria. Also, let's interpolate the "Covington students assault native American" fiction, which got several M$M outlets sued.

Ukrainegate. The latest attempt to remove Trump. Like the Mueller "investigation" the House failed to interview ... or indeed, find .... any relevant eyewitnesses who could say the magic words "Trump told me". They managed to not even interview the person who started this all ... Eric Ciamarella ... but instead clung to the fiction that he deserves some sort of anonymity because ... whatever. Meanwhile, the transcript shows nothing like a "quid pro quo" and even the presumed victim -Zelenskiy - says there was no pressure. Altho I believe that the whole event, including the issues of Hunter Biden being part of a protection racket and Joe Biden getting Ukraine's Chief Procurator fired, deserves to be thoroughly investigated, this, too will die an ignominious death.

The deep state's/ globalists' biggest and best-organized plan (RUSSIA!RUSSIA!) failed, and the rest amounts to nothing more than picking up adventitious clods of shit and throwing them against the wall to see what sticks. But FOR SURE they won't give up, now that campaign season is open for Trump.

So, what next?

Haven't you heard? Aren't you getting tired of success all the time? Aren't you tired of everything getting better all the time?

I don't believe that Trump has been successful. What he is is sand in the gears of the transnationals and the globalist elites. He's been able to thwart their rapacious one-worldism and has (so far) kept us out of any NEW wars, but he has not been able to reverse the interventionist efforts, and will not be able to remake the American economy.

Also, not a huge fan of his support for Israel and his visceral hatred of Iran, or his constantly appointing deep-staters, liberal interventionists, and neconons to his security team. People (here) often mistake my refusal to get on their anti-Trump crazy-train as support for Trump. For me, Trump was a PROTEST VOTE. I was hoping he would do a few things (so far about 50% accomplished) but if all he is is a loose cannon and a vengeful poke in the eye of the globalists, I'm happy.

Still ... what next? When the RUSSIA!RUSSIA! disinformation campaign failed, it was easy to predict that they would do something next, or something in parallel. Remember, these people have no moral or ethical boundaries to cross. Truth, democracy, patriotism, human lives mean nothing to them.

So, sure as night follows day, there will be more attempts to discredit, derail, or disable Trump. What comes next? "Unfit for office?" Lethal flu infection?

In order to "crash" the economy you have to crash the financial system, which right now is so overloaded with unpayable debt that a feather could topple it.

One possibility is to crash the stock market, on which many hedge funds depend.

As I think about it, another play might be to foment a color / spring / dignity revolution here in the US. But I'd have to think about the actual logistics to try and figure out if it's a viable option.

On Tuesday, March 31, the Supreme Court will hear 3 cases about Trump’s tax cheating:

19-715) TRUMP V. MAZARS

19-760) TRUMP V. DEUTSCHE BANK AG

19-635 TRUMP V. VANCE

Supreme Court's calendar is at www.supremecourt.gov/oral_arguments/calendars/MonthlyArgumentCalMarch2
020.html

Since there are 5 Republicans on the Supreme Court, they may decide to wait until next year to rule that it is okay for Trump to cheat on his taxes, but only because he is President. There was a time when the Supreme Court frowned on cheating: Richard Nixon’s time.

President Nixon's Troublesome Tax Returns

What is striking is how little income tax was paid. Nixon's four-year average of tax-to-gross income was only 7 percent. By agreeing to pay $465,000, Nixon's wealth was reduced to half of the previous $988,522. One White House spokesman stated that Nixon was "almost totally wiped out" by the agreement (WSJ, Apr. 5, 1974). However, Nixon was fortunate to have had $433,000 in liquid assets to pay the tax deficiency.

God, SECOND really has a stick up his ass about taxes, doesn't he?

I hate to tell you this, SECOND, but most Americans know that ALL of the rich and the corporations have been screwing us on their taxes, and that tax avoidance has been going on since taxes were first imposed. (And no, I don't mean "in America", I mean "in history").

Maybe if you were to propose some meaningful tax reform it might interest people, but going after one politically covenient guy with hammer and tongs over his taxes is just a big soozefest. Most people would see it as meaningless partisan theater, and they'd be correct.

Oh dear! Yes, sadly - I can see it.

Nobody will have to be moved to get out in the streets for a revolution. No rich people will have to (intentionally) lose money in the stock market.

Instead, the FBI/ CIA/ NSA will dutifully trot out claims of Russian interference - and there goes the election.

So now tax cheating is not a crime because Trump is a Republican President and charging him is partisan. Did you not understand how much trouble Nixon got into for his tax cheating? www.taxhistory.org/thp/readings.nsf/cf7c9c870b600b9585256df80075b9dd/f
8723e3606cd79ec85256ff6006f82c3?OpenDocument

Did you not understand that tax cheating blossomed like a mushroom cloud because the GOP cut back the IRS audit budget for making rich people pay? In FY 2018, the IRS used 73,519 full-time equivalent positions in conducting its work, a decrease of 15.5 percent since 2013 (Table 30).
www.irs.gov/statistics/irs-budget-and-workforce

Did you not understand that the deficit exploded because Trump's IRS is not collecting the taxes, including Trump's? If Trump can obviously cheat, despite being the #1 tax payer, other rich payers have noticed and are doing the same.

Oh, I understand that tax cheating is a crime, alright. I also know that there are international law firms, like Mossack Fonseca (associated with Hillary Clinton) that help the wealthy stash their money into instant foundations, shell corporations, and offshore accounts. That's a lot worse ... and involves a lot more money ... than just fudging the figures on a tax form.

When you go after one individual while others are doing the same - or a lot worse- it's called selective enforcement. In this case, I would call it blatant election meddling. Or maybe partisan hypocrisy. Or, in your case , Trump Derangement Syndrome

Instead of constantly ... and I mean constantly... obssessing about Trump (Trump this! Trump that! Trump something else!) ... why don't you propose a way to solve the problem? People might at least be willing to listen.

But I know you won't, just like CC will never discuss What are Americans' interests?. You hate America, and Americans, far too much to engage in anything positive.

You gave away your votes and your time spent defending Trump's behavior.

I find Trump as outrageously entertaining as a clown and he also reveals the inner-most mental processes of his voters/defenders/admirers. For me, that is very enlightening on why America has malfunctioned since the 1960's.

I've always been mildly curious about why people who are smarter than me, and started at a better position, don't do well. I now know that it is not bad luck and not something wrong with America (although America does need systematic modifications - a remodeling, new plumbing, new wiring). It's something about them; Trump reveals that something, pulls it out of them so I can see it clearly like on an MRI or infrared scan, what is clogging up their pipes and overloading their mental circuits.

At times, impeachment has felt like an experiment in which we keep layering on more absurd conditions to see what the Republican Party will accept.

What if Trump releases a call record in which he said Biden’s name repeatedly, directly to Ukraine’s president?

Not enough? Okay, What if we also have him tell Ukraine and China to investigate Biden on TV?

How about if we have a series of Republican foreign policy appointees testify to the House that he did it?

Still nothing? Wild.

Okay, how about this: We get John Bolton, hero of the American right, scourge of liberals, to say that he will testify, under oath, that he personally heard Trump say the aid was contingent on Ukraine going after the Bidens, and that he heard Trump say it earlier than anyone has yet known.

I mean, surely?

And still, nothing. Worse than nothing. As Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) put it, in response, Senate Republicans effectively voted to put cotton in their ears, so they wouldn’t have to hear what Bolton said.

What this reveals is that, in 2020, loyalty to Trump is what defines a Republican. It is also what defines a conservative, as the Conservative Political Action Conference CPAC, the leading conservative conference, made clear after Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) voted to hear Bolton’s testimony:

BREAKING: The "extreme conservative" and Junior Senator from the great state of Utah, @SenatorRomney is formally NOT invited to #CPAC2020.

Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves said Trump's acquittal will make it hard for the US to tell other nations to follow America’s lead: “Great! No more tedious US lectures on rule of law, fair trials, evidence, equality before the law, transparency, corruption, free and fair elections”

Trump’s acquittal will do immense damage to America’s “soft power,” Washington’s ability to convince other nations to do what the US wants without using military force.

It would essentially kneecap a key aspect of US foreign policy, and all because of the president’s misbehavior and Republicans’ refusal to break with him over it.

“Trump represents the greatest destruction of American soft power in history,” said Luis Rubio, the president of the Mexican Council on Foreign Relations.

When US diplomats tell their foreign counterparts to be less corrupt, fix partisan problems, and adhere to the rule of law, those talking points won’t resonate.

Trump lawyer Alan Dershowitz said in front of the Senate: ‘I want to be elected. I think I’m a great president. I think I’m the greatest president there ever was. If I’m not elected the national interest will suffer greatly.’ That cannot be impeachable.

That’s a deeply troubling message to send to the rest of the world, particularly autocrats who want to remain in power for years.

Yanno, I was wondering why the DNC fucked up the impeachment so badly. I mean, the House had control of the timing and could have waited for favorable court rulings but rushed thru so fast they missed questioning Bolt-on.

And it occurred to me that maybe Nancy isn't as stupid as some people say she is.

do you know how some Congresspeople attach "riders" to bills that they KNOW aren't going to pass? Usually some sort of extreme proposal that sounds good in soundbites but is impossible to implement, or is unfunded or some such? That way they get to claim they proposed something without ever having to deal with the consequences ... yanno, Congressional virtue-signalling! It's as old as the hills.

Well, maybe the Dems MEANT for this impeachment to fail. The Dems never questioned the original "whistleblower" for what seems to me to be nonsensical reasons. They COULD have waited for Bolt-on to testify, but instead sent such a weak case to the Senate that the Senate was perfectly entitled to shoot it down. That way Nancy gets to satisfy the "posse" and then gets to blame Senate Republicans for the results.

Do I believe that politicians would engage is such crafty political calculations?

You betcha!

I guess i'm not the only one to question the charade. This is from someone who appeared before the House and was involved in the process

Quote:

When I appeared before the House Judiciary Committee in November, I opposed four proposed articles of impeachment as legally flawed and explained that two would be legitimate if they were proven. The House Judiciary Committee rejected the challenged articles and accepted the two articles on abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. That left one fundamental area of disagreement. I warned the panel that it was rushing to a failed impeachment by insisting on a vote by Christmas. This was the shortest impeachment investigation in American history. It was also the narrowest grounds and thinnest record for trial. I have previously noted that witnesses like former national security adviser John Bolton indicated that they were willing to testify if subpoenaed, and that a couple months would have likely secured more testimony and supportive court orders.

Indeed, in the impeachment case of President Nixon, it took only a few months to go all the way to the Supreme Court for the final decision. So absent such a delay, the impeachment of Trump was guaranteed to fail, due to an incomplete and insufficient record. Yet the House insisted this was a “crime in progress” and there was no time to delay a submission to the Senate. It then immediately contradicted its rationale by waiting more than a month to submit articles of impeachment to the Senate. The House simply could not have made it easier on the president and his legal team.

The media ignored the obvious catastrophic blunder by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her leadership. The media instead suggested that it was all some grand and brilliant scheme. They even credited the strategy with Bolton eventually coming forward to say he would testify with a subpoena, even though the same offer was made during the House investigation. The media also ignored the unexplained decision by the House to withdraw a subpoena for top Bolton aide Charles Kupperman, who went to court as a prerequisite for testimony, the same position taken by Bolton. Before the courts could even rule, the House mooted the case by withdrawing the subpoena. That made no sense, and the court dismissed the case after concluding that the House appeared to have no interest in the witness.

No harm would have come from pursuing testimony by Kupperman. Yet lead House manager Adam Schiff offered a facially dubious explanation that Kupperman had said he would litigate the issue. If Kupperman truly wanted to drag out litigation, he could have refused to appear before the House and waited for it to seek to compel his testimony. Instead, he said he just wanted a court order in favor of testifying for his own protection. Moreover, House Democrats continued to seek to compel the testimony of former White House counsel Donald McGahn, despite his continued litigation. It won that case as the House was voting on impeachment.

As these blunders by the House became more and more obvious, all the efforts to excuse them became more and more absurd. One main defense heard in the media was that it did not matter, given the Senate Republican majority. Yet if the House was certain to lose on that record, why end the investigation prematurely with a case that would be so easy to defeat? By waiting only a few months, the record would have been stronger. Instead, House Democrats surrendered control of the record to the opposing party and adopted a ridiculous strategy of demanding concessions to end with this trial that Senate Republicans loathed. That strategy failed miserably.

This is not Monday morning quarterbacking. This very series of events was expressly laid out before the vote, and House Democrats made a decision to choose certain failure over completing their impeachment case.

The calculation was to not waste time on Trump, like the two years and two months spent on Watergate with all the investigations. At the end of Watergate, the GOP Senators would not have voted to remove Nixon. A burglary does not rise to the level of an impeachable offense because Nixon was not present at the break-in to the Watergate building, therefore no crime. Nixon removed himself for the good of the party and the next election. Trump is not so loyal to the Republican Party.
