I am not all that familiar with the details of Russian Elections. The State Duma is currently in it's 7th Convocation, since 2016. And expiring this year, when a new Election (in 2021) will be held for the 8th Convocation - to last another 5 years. President was last elected in 2018, his term to expire in 2024. He was only legally allowed to run for re-election once, which was 2018, I guess. So, that would seem to mean that this year, in 2021, is the Mid-Terms for Russia Elections. Now it all makes more sense. Does anybody know of any other nation which has "Mid-term" Elections in 2021?

Quote:The Supreme Court vacated the decision Monday and directed the lower appeals court to dismiss the case as moot, which is what the GOP plaintiffs wanted the court to do in the event they decided not to take up the case.
Quote:Multiple conservative-leaning Supreme Court justices suggested in opinions around the election that they could possibly rule in favor of that theory, however, raising fears among Democrats the high court could give Republican-led state legislatures free rein

Or that the president attacked him on Twitter for lacking "courage" as the Secret Service rushed him to safety that day. Or the criticism Trump has leveled toward his former No. 2 in recent weeks. In fact, as Pence met privately with about 400 pastors in the cavernous First Baptist Church downtown and traveled across South Carolina, hobnobbing with and fundraising for Christian groups and conservative candidates, he spoke with an almost reverence about the former president.

Quote:Combine it all and Democrats were going to have a hard time holding their majority under the best of circumstances. When you factor in the weight of history and their recent series of problematic retirements (with more likely to come!), the majority looks very, very imperiled.

Quote:The special election lockout in Texas, coupled with retirement and redistricting news, highlighted just how hard 2022 will be for House Democrats. Democrats have jumped to argue that the latest House special election outside Fort Worth, Texas — where none of their candidates managed to make the runoff — is no harbinger for next year’s midterms. The party’s top candidate in that race fears otherwise. “It's not a good omen. It's not a good portend for 2022 that we got shut out,” said Jana Lynne Sanchez, who failed to make the runoff by just 354 votes amid a split Democratic field and, more importantly, surprisingly low turnout. “I'm sounding the alarm bell today, and I'm saying we really have to work hard.”

Ending the filibuster is ONLY good for Democrats if they maintain a majority until the end of time.
