The vaccines ORIGINALLY were developed to prevent hospitalizations and deaths.

At the start everyone knew the vaccines might not prevent illness. And that's because the vaccines are injected, and injections stimulate central immunity, not peripheral immunity. Central and peripheral immunity are maintained by two different types of antibodies, IgG and IgA respectively.

Peripheral immunity exits on mucosal surfaces, like eyes, mouths, noses, and the nasopharynx. The upper airways are where the virus starts its infection, and where it spreads from to other people, and their immunity is maintained by peripheral IgA. Again, IgA is NOT stimulated by injectable vaccines. So it's completely expected that injected vaccines don't prevent one from either catching the virus, or spreading it to others.

Central immunity exists wherever there's active blood flow through living tissues. And what causes severe COVID-19 illness and death are things like pneumonia and heart infections and kidney infections, whose immunity is delivered by the central immunity antibody IgG (and other, later immune systems). And again, IgG central immunity IS stimulated by injectable vaccines.

Are the vaccines doing what they're SUPPOSED to do? Yes. They're behaving exactly as predicted with the new delta strain.

Just me geeking out, but there are in fact 5 different types of antibodies. There's the already-discussed IgG and IgA. There's also IgM ('innate' and first-up generic antibody), IgA (allergies), and IgD (not well understood).

I am, however, against parents forcing their minors to get them without consent. I'm against employers holding jobs hostage. I'm against universities holding education hostage. Hell... I'm against governments holding entertainment hostage (can't go to a concert or sporting event in Illinois unless you show proof).

As for people in their own homes, is their name on the deed?

If it is, they can feel free to kick anybody out who doesn't have the vaccine if they're that fucked in the head. If not, they can go move their sorry ass into the gutter and hope the gutter rats living in the cardboard box next door got their shots.

I've known someone FAR smarter and FAR more talented than JO (or Jack) who flamed off the planet due to a similar misperception. JO's isn't a unique story, or an interesting one to me. You feel fear and see it in others where it doesn't exist. It's that easy to understand.

I've had a lifelong fascination with all thing medical/ biological. Some people, maybe most people, never have that big interest in something. They drift from one thing to the next, never settling on anything. I consider myself lucky. And I could have let myself be a one-track myopic. That would have been easy and fun. But from a very early age - pre-teen - I made a deliberate choice to use my interest to springboard myself into other areas. Botany, medicine, the environment, chemistry, physics, instrumentation (which I really enjoy), more or less in that order. And as a result of being poor and scrambling for jobs, I've done everything from gas station attendant to deep computer programming (which I truly disliked but did well). Still, I'm never so happy as when I'm delving into something like hyperbaric physiology or brain function. Not because I'm 'afraid' of it, or because I'll get any advantage from it, but because it just plain fascinates me. I'd say the second most enjoyable thing is having my hands inside a complicated instrument, figuring out how it's supposed to work, why it's not working, and fixing it; and fairly frequently, redesigning and rebuilding it to be better - to cycle faster, and be more sensitive, more stable, and more bullet-proof. But, fwiw I hate working on cars because it's dirty and you get busted knuckles.

It's one thing to distrust TPTB. It's another to reflexively believe the opposite of everything "they" say. Because while distrust is non-belief, beliving the opposite is just another form of belief. And as you know, I don't recommend "belief" as a way to understand the truth.

Truth ... the accurate reflection of reality ... is often complicated because reality is complicated. Just bc TPTB said something doesn't make it automatically untrue. There may be parts that are true, and the challenge is to find out which is which.

And you can't count on consensus esp when a politicized media is attempting to drive opinion. I believe I've posted A billion flies eat shit more than once to express how little regard I have for widely-held (but false) opinion. So you have to slog thru the details "without fear or favor" and draw your own conclusions.

So that's what I've done. I've tried to seek out knowledge where mine is lacking, data, photogaphic evidence and personal observations wherever possible.

I was one of the ones who first brought evidence to the board that this may be a lab-made virus, even tho it was dismissed as a "conspiracy theory" for over a year b4 TPTB decided to reverse gear and adopt the idea whole-hog. I recognize the efforts by our government to weaponize every real crisis, and make them up where they don't exist (RUSSIARUSSIA! WMD!).

And as a former data evaluator, I understand how data can be misleadng ... for example, from the very start I questioned the "infection fatality rate" when I knew that there simply weren't enough tests to confirm infection. And I also know that running PCR tests thru too many cycles can create false positives, which will lower the apparent infection fatality rate.

But I realized this pandemic was a real problem when I saw the Chinese government put in the time and money to build "instant hospitals" to treat the ill, because even if that was nothng more than a PR stunt, they were reacting to public pressure about a REAL event that local officials tried to keep quiet for a long time. There was no incentive on the part of local, regional, or national Chinese governments to admit there was even a problem to begin with, so jumping to these massive construction projects told me something serious was happening.

Viruses are real. Pandemics are real. At the start of something new and big, even the most basic things are unknown: How is it spread? Of so many people exposed, how many will get sick? How can we prevent transmission? What is the incubation period? Is there such a thing as asymptomatic spread? How many infected will need hospitalization and how many will die? How can we treat them? Which categories of population are especially vulnerable? (Usually it's be very young and the old. This time the young were spared.)

At the start of something big, you need to close your borders, and I understand lockdowns for diseases that look exceptionally transmissible, like SARS CoV2, but ONLY AS A CIRCUIT-BREAKER WHILE MORE EFFECTIVE AND FOCUSED RESPONSES CAN BE MARSHALLED.

Where the government fell down was masking. Since N95s are made primarily in China, and 3M refused to break its delivery contracts to other nations by shipping to the USA, we were in a hole to begin with. Imagine the number of deaths that could have been prevented if nursing home and medical personnel had enough masks to wear them ALL THE TIME. Imagine the panic and fear that could have been prevented if those who appeared most vulnerable had access to a few N95s, like I did.

Life could have gone on much as normal for most people, like it did for me, while other measures were brought to bear.

And then there was that whole bureaucratic testing nightmare, where the CDC bungled its own test kits and refused to accept test data from all of the county and state labs that were chomping at the bit to test, albeit with disparate methods.

Instead, "they" weaponized the pandemic by extending lockdowns FAR beyond reasonable to control people's movements, provide an excuse for easily-corrupted mail-in balloting, manipulate social networks even more (with the excuse of preventing "misinformation". But hey, it's everyone's right to say something, even if it's wrong!), and then handing out "govenment money" to people made dependent who would have much rather continued working for a living.

As for the vaccine itself: SOME pharma invested in research to create a mRNA vaccine.

I've got no problem with that.

First of all, the vaccine bypasses DNA completely. There is NO question of the vaccine "altering your DNA".

And, having looked up viruses in general and THIS virus in particular: THIS virus is a single-stranded RNA virus. Being single-stranded RNA makes it more prone to mutation, since a double-helix would be stablized by itself.

It also means that the vaccine works the SMAE WAY as the virus, only less completely. In other words, it makes no difference to my DNA (which in this case means "none at all") whether I get infected or injected, except that the injection is with a less complete version of virus RNA fragments. Being innoculated doesn't entail any ADDITIONAL risk over being infected, it entails less.

So, where's the problem?

I know this is a long, complicated post. But, Like I said, reality is often complicated and can't be reduced to a talking point or ideology, either the government's or anyone else's.

The issue is to fight the government's weaponization while still responding to the problem. Lockdowns aren't the way to go, and haven't been for over a year. At this point, since people 65+ seem mostly at risk of serious illness or death, the best bet is to protect the vulnerable by vaccination. Since 80pct of that segment is fully vaccinated and 90pct has had at least one shot, there isn't too far to go along those lines.

I think we should reverse government and big tech control of the media, not just on the grounds that they misrepresented Covid-19 but also the "mostly peaceful" riots, the 2020 election, Biden's* and the whole DNC's corruption, RUSSIA!RUSSIA!, Trump, and just about every issue they ever reported on, plus they're shredding the Constitution (again!) Also reverse mail-in balloting, end the lockdowns, and stop government handouts which are busting the budget. Don't require vaccinations except for medical staff.

Also ensure an adequate manufacturing capacity of N95s for everyone who might need them, in case an exceptionally deadly version of this virus (or another) comes along.

And, while I'm at at, end our endless wars overseas, remake our manufacturing capacity, end partial reserve banking, and restore the environment.

There's so much real stuff to focus on, why get hung up on vaccines and masks especially when the seem to be a non-issue?

One is the aggression coming out of the far right. At the CPAC a couple of weekends back, you had members of U.S. Congress openly saying vaccines are nothing more than an instrument of power and control by the Biden administration — with no acknowledgment of the life-saving effect. People were saying that young people don’t need to get vaccinated, citing low death rates, and ignoring all the severe morbidity and long-haul COVID among young people.

On the conservative cable news outlets, they’ve been going on regular anti-vaccine rants. A couple of weeks back, I had Laura Ingram and Governor DeSantis of Florida go after me — and I’m not even in his state. What was he doing?

It’s been sort of poetic: They mocked me for saying that this epidemic is not over, and that Florida is at great risk. Now, of course, Florida is the No. 2 affected state with COVID-19.

But that incident goes to show you how aggressive this anti-vaccine misinformation is, and how it’s coming out of the far right, and out of Fox and News Corps. I don’t know what’s driving it. It’s front and center now of the far right component of the GOP. I don’t want to say it’s mainstream, but it’s there’s definitely that undercurrent there.

I saw this last spring when I had to explain to the American people that Trump was launching a disinformation campaign — downplaying the severity of the pandemic or spectacularizing hydroxychloroquine or saying that the hospital admissions were just catch-up and elective surgeries, and that we don’t need masks. Back then, I made the point that I wasn’t politicizing it, they were politicizing. I was just trying to yank the anti-science out of what the White House was saying.
