"It would be one thing if Congress had specifically authorized the action that the CDC has taken," the court's majority wrote in an unsigned opinion. "But that has not happened. Instead, the CDC has imposed a nationwide moratorium on evictions in reliance on a decades-old statute that authorizes it to implement measures like fumigation and pest extermination. It strains credulity to believe that this statute grants the CDC the sweeping authority that it asserts."

The CDC does not, nor should it ever have this type of power.

But something should be done about this, and quickly. Almost none of those funds from the previous bail-outs ever made it into the hands of the landlords who have been screwed over for the last year and a half.

I don't feel too bad for the mega-land-owners out there, but I personally know two people who own a single rental house. Fortunately for them, their tenants never stopped making payments during the pandemic, but if it had it likely would have ruined them. The government charges more in property taxes for homes that aren't your own primary residence, and nobody ever put a moratorium on the collection of taxes.

On the flip side of this though, I've heard the possibility that up to 11% of homeowners could be foreclosed on as fallout of the Covid overreaction, and that doesn't even factor in how many people would be kicked out of their apartments and onto the street.

I don't think people who aren't facing those prospects are aware at all of the enormity of that situation. Not only will these people be made homeless nearly overnight if they don't know somebody who would take them and their families in, but they're also going to be stuck with a lifelong debt that they could never possibly hope to ever get out from under.

In other words, that's a lot of people with literally nothing to lose.

One person with nothing to lose can be a force. Think back to Las Vegas a few years ago.

Now imagine millions of people with nothing to lose.

Our "leaders" have failed us.

We haven't even begun to feel the true cost of the lockdowns yet.

But we will.

It is NOT Our "leaders", but Republicans: "Over a dissent from the court's three liberal justices, the court ruled that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention did not have authority to impose the freeze." Again, it is not Our "leaders" doing this, but the Republicans are doing it. Why did you shift the blame to generalities rather than specific people appointed by Republican Presidents, with names*, who made the decisions?

* Clarence Thomas - G. Bush I
John Roberts - G. Bush II
Samuel Alito - G. Bush II
Neil Gorsuch - Trump
Brett Kavanaugh - Trump
Amy Barrett - Trump

No. It's both.

I ALREADY SAID IT WAS A FUCKING GOOD RULING, YOU STUPID, STUPID FUCK.

Your Liberal justices were WRONG here.

The problem has nothing to do with the decision of the Supreme Court. The CDC should NEVER have this power over any aspect of politics and our lives, for any reason. This is an issue for Congress.

When Congress gave billions to pay for an eviction moratorium, it was also giving the CDC the power to call an eviction moratorium. The Republicans on the Supreme Court said Congress did not, but all Republicans, including judges, are full of shit. For the ones I live near I can prove they are full of it. For 6ix, you pretty much encapsulated why Trumptards struggle to make ends meet. The Trumptards I know have deluded themselves into believing they are wise and logical and moral and superior and hard working and every other shiny attribute, but they are full of it and that is why they have endless problems staying in the middle class. There is no way to straighten out those dull-witted Republicans' tangled and corkscrewed reasoning. There is also no way to convince Republicans that their personal problems are caused by being stupid. Too bad for those who vote for Trump. You may have the votes, but you will live your grubby lives with barely enough the money to get by. Tough luck, butt-heads! You deserve your troubles.

DREAMTROVE

The CDC is basically a corporation at this point. I files patents for "the public good" and then renders them classified, and shares the information only with select private parties. It should be disbanded. It's a captured agency. Someone else should do this job

I love Trump.

I also have zero problems making ends meet, and working 20 hours a week at a minimum wage job is gainfully employed for me.

How much credit card debt are you swimming in, fuckwit?
