What are your thoughts on the barter economy?

it's silly. I mean, even rats and ants don't use it, they use abstract representations of value. IOW, money

the problem with our money is the giant issuing god power to the satanist cabal. not that it's money

It would become insanely complicated to work out what everyone involved in making an iphone would want, and then to juggle the roofers, videogame designers, musicians and airline pilots to provide them with that, and then worry about what each of those people want.

barter probably works in a civilization that has five people in it

I like crypto as a solution

I meant more on a micro-scale. In tandem with the fiat currency.

Since we already have a one-size-fits all solution that works most of the time and is recognized anywhere you go, there's no reason to throw that away as long as we don't end up needing a wheelbarrow of cash to buy a gallon of milk.

But as individuals go, I think a lot of people are capable of recognizing that they know other people who have goods and/or skills that they need while also having goods and/or skills that they know other people would need and how to negotiate a fair bargain without any cash exchanging hands.

Any solution involving fiat currency is fucked

Is Larry Elder still black? Because 6ix really loves him some black dudes. Maybe he's getting all BungBetty on us.

And some other black dude Ted Gaines, too.

I cannot conjure myself or you bumping into a China dude who makes iphones, so that we might barter on a street corner. I don't conjure you running into jet drivers in your town on a regular basis. Ditto game designers - however, they do still need to eat, get around, etc. These are not the barter parties.

Barter is outside of taxation, so perhaps your New York mindset has difficulty with that.
The greatest everyday needs of common folk are food, transportation, room/board. Much of this can easily be traded, without giving Cuomo or Biden a cut.

What's with you and fantasizing about black dudes man? It's literally all you've talked about for days now.

JSF is right about this.

Maybe here in the Midwest we're more likely to do this sort of thing.

I've been giving a lot of my time away to my friend's dad recently and in exchange he's going to help me frame out my porch and get legit windows on it so I can finally get the plastic off of it and do the rehab that I'm capable of doing without help.

He's already got plans to help me out with some other things around here, like cutting and fitting sheet vinyl on my kitchen floor... something he's done a thousand times over the years and something I'm hesitant to do because one wrong cut could mean I'm out hundreds of bucks.

In exchange, I'll be doing landscaping and helping him dehoard. Both of these activities I get a lot of enjoyment and satisfaction out of.

I also get to learn how to do new things from a semi-retired pro out of the deal.

And meanwhile, Uncle Sam can go fuck himself.

I keep running into folk who cannot grasp the concept of what a huge percent fo their money is confiscated via tax.
And I explasin to them how to avoid the taxation - legally. Barter is one way. Many folk just call this trading favors.

Before they ever see a dime on their paystub, the government has already confiscated a full set of payroll taxes - this is not visibl3e on your or anybody's paystub.
Next, what is left over is presented as "your5 pay rate" - which your paystub pretends is the starting point.
From this, an entire duplicate set of payroll taxes is confiscated AGAIN from your pay. This means that whatever your paystub says is the samount confiscated as taxes, they actually took tweice that amount - you just cannot see it. Libtards are tricky that way - they are certain that everybody is too stupid to see this trick.

Then, after all of your taxes and deuctions, you get "take home pay"
This take home pay you are then allowed to go around and spend, and then pay State and Local taxes on almost everything you buy. Even if you are putting your maoney into savings, or retirement, you are still pressured and convinced to pay extra taxes this extra time, for the privledge of parking your money in an account which the government can monitor and audit.

Government cannot monitor and audit barter.

Anyway, what I always tell those who are shocked at the idea of not handing over more than half of their earnings to the government (or the House, or whate4ver) - If you feel bad, then after you make ALL OF YOUR OWN MONEY, you can decide and choose to give half of it to some bouncer, or some bartender, or some restaurant owner, or the governemtn, if it really makes you feel better.
I, personally, would rather the person doing all of the hard work be the one holding onto the cash, at the end of the day.

Yup. Exactly.

Even better when you're rehabbing a dump into a great house for pennies on the dollar to what you'd have to pay somebody else to do it, and even better better when you can trade your own time and labor to get an old pro to help you do things that are out of your wheelhouse to really up the value of your own property.

I've spent about $8,000 in the last two years and easily upped the value of my property by $60,000 to $70,000 so far. The best part is that none of these improvements are things that would increase my property taxes since it's all improvements on existing structures that I was already paying taxes on.

True, because it's compounded. You pay sales tax on goods in a store, but you're also paying indirectly for the business property, the employees income tax, the corporate tax for the business, and then you're paying the taxes on the truck that brought it there, licensing fees, tolls, truck driver income tax, gas tax, the warehouse property tax, so on back up the supply chain
