Fear of the vaccine (CAUSES CANCER! MAKES YOU SMELL LIKE A ZOMBIE!)
Fear of Trump!
Fear of "losing our democracy"!
Fear of the impending financial/economic/social collapse!
Runaway global warming!
Systemic racism!
Russia!
China!

I'm telling you, fear porn is driving us mad.
Making us lose perpective.
Keeping us from seeing the real.

I refuse to read any more fear-porn.

We had a "coup" attempt Jan6, it wasn't just (in this case) a REALLY "mostly peaceful" demonstration with some illegal trespass thrown in??? (Meanwhile, actual arson, riots, and looting are given a "pass"?)

The biggest threat to democracy is the army of Trump-loving white supremacist domestic terrorists?? (Not censorship?)

Omicron is a killer disease that requires everyone+ from the most elderly great-grandparent to the tiniest tot- be vaccinated, OR ELSE? (Meanwhile, obesity causes greater health burden to the system.)

And the vaccine will not only make you sterile, it will make you smell like a zombie, give you cancer, and eventually kill you bc it's part of the "world depopulation agenda"??

Fear-porn, from EVERY direction!

It's this overblown pounding of the "fear" button that's driving us crazy and making us act stupid. I really think we should all just give it a rest.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

I like to scan the headlines because it lets me know where I'm expected to stampede next. But when I see 'news' put out without any reference to named, specific, original sources (or better yet, links), it goes in my mental 'meh' bin along with a big divot in the publication's credibility.

Looking at YOU NYTimes! the so-called paper of record.

Anyway, it used to be 'if it bleeds, it leads', because, for one thing, everybody loves a good train wreck, and also it's useful to either distract us from something else OR herd us into the preferred direction.

But I wonder if people are getting tired of the fear porn and it's not working/ selling as well. Because I see the more major publications are engaged in not so much a flood of fear-porn propaganda, but rather a steady, fast drip drip drip drip drip drip drip drip ...

For example, every 2 or 3 days the NYTimes has an 'above the fold' story about RUSSIA!!!/ UKRAINE!!! or CHINA!!!/ TAIWAN!!!. But it's not like IRAQ!!!/ WMD!!! where it had at least one article and often a few every day. It's more subtle than that. Still, looking at the trend, I do feel we're being softened up to support yet another war ... or two.

Anyway, just I hope people wise-up a bit. If someone is claiming information, but they can't cite it, name it, link it, or provide evidence, maybe people should figure out it's just more bullshit, and start questioning the crap they're being fed AND the people feeding them said crap.

That's why I love RCP.

I know I made a thread about this subject at least a year back and posted an example of what that website looks like every day.

They take articles from both the right and the left and show the headlines and you see two entirely different takes depending on the source about every issue under the sun.

This happens every day.

I don't believe any of it anymore. From either side.

There is no reason that anybody else should either, other than a desire for the comfort that being in your own other-side-hating echo chamber can bring you.

Fuck all of them. They're all high-paid liars peddling hate to get that boner pill and car insurance ad revenue.

And Pfizer is King Shit on Turd Mountain. Their CEO was recently named CEO of the Year to "prove" it.

I happen to derive a great deal of pleasure witnessing it every single day on repeat and seeing that they can get away with it because human beings are so fucking dumb.

Feel free to boycott it all you'd like. It isn't going to matter in the end. If they were worried about it, they'd stop the lying now that their ratings are tanking across the board, but they just keep doubling down on the hate and the lies.

That's one of the reasons I do.

I like seeing how crazy people on both sides of every issue get. Don't kid yourself that people are abandoning it. They're bored because Trump isn't president anymore, but they still believe everything that they're told. The headlines alone control their minds.

I read the news so I know what not to believe.
