False trampling death rumours at Ottawa protests a sign of misinformation campaign, police say

A Fox News contributor with 1.3 million followers tweeted that she heard a woman may have been "seriously injured or killed."

She tweeted an apology on Saturday for sharing false information — but her original post had already been amplified widely. CBC has received a number of calls asking about the person allegedly killed by a horse.

Interim Ottawa police chief Steve Bell told reporters Saturday that protesters are engaging in misinformation during this police action.

"Almost immediately there were tweets, there were pictures that had been photoshopped, out on social media that indicated people had died," said Bell. "That the horses had run over someone with a walker in the crowd."

He did say that the two people who fell down "immediately got back up and started to engage in their protest and demonstration activity."

Ottawa police say no one was seriously injured by the use of horses.

Maybe Ted Cruz did retweet that. I'm not a mindless idiot that gets their news from Twitter. Shame on Cruz for retweeting it if he did, and I'm guessing he probably did. Idiots all over the spectrum do this every single day and look like assholes when the original tweet was bullshit.

But you can see how Twitter has pretty much destroyed journalism in the world at this point.

I'm not on fireflyfans everyday but most times I do come across a discussion with a linked u tube its already gone! they are all 404 deleted or banned links, I've made it no secret I quit youtube, I don't click on any u tube vids you link to...not juist you personally but almost anyone's u tube, I only click unless I really have to and I ask that people at least don't be lazy and title their vids so some of us can try dig through interweb archives to find them if they are important if they are deleted to try get them un-banned.
