Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said that the leaks were caused by deliberate action, not accidents, and specified that explosions had been recorded. Sweden's Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson said that it likely was sabotage. Earlier, several commentators had suggested that the circumstances surrounding the leaks appeared to be suspicious and it possible had been an act of sabotage.

The first gas leak was discovered at coordinates 54.883333°N 15.416667°E.[11] Citing a “danger to shipping”, Danish Maritime Authority advised all vessels from moving within 9.3 kilometres (5 nmi) of the accident site, and for planes to stay at least 1,000 metres (3,300 ft) above it.

The Kremlin and others say they can't rule out sabotage after "unprecedented" damage was caused to both Nord Streams 1 and 2 - a day before a new pipeline from Norwegian gas fields carrying gas to Europe opened.

The leak from Nord Stream 2, discovered by the Danish Defence F-16 interceptor response unit, prompted the setting up of a five nautical mile exclusion zone, to protect shipping from any danger.

The Danes have now marked off the leak from Nord Stream 1.

Nord Stream AG said it was impossible to estimate when the gas network system would be working again.

"The destruction that occurred on the same day simultaneously on three strings of the offshore gas pipelines of the Nord Stream system is unprecedented," it said.

Photos taken by the Danish military showed large masses of bubbles on the surface of the water emanating from the three leaks located in Sweden's and Denmark's economic zones, spreading from 200 to 1,000 meters (656 feet to 0.62 miles) in diameter.

Waters seem Shallow for a Sea but Deep for a human, 200 Meters or 656 Feet. Light does not penetrate the deep ocean approximately 200 to 1,000 meters , with the exception of the upper parts of the mesopelagic. Since photosynthesis is not possible, plants and phytoplankton cannot live in this zone, a depth below about 60 metres 200 ft where hypoxic breathing gas becomes necessary to avoid oxygen toxicity may be considered 'Deep' the Fish and Marine Animals can go much Deeper than a human, pressure in the ocean increases by about 1 atmosphere for every 10 meters of depth. A Machine or Submarine or Drone a Missile could go Deeper.
