I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

We had a good example of one problem in New Hampshire, with Democrats voting for Nikki Haley in order to swing the Republican vote.

But it's worse than that.

In CA, the two top vote-getters go on to the final vote. Even if that means two Democrats.

And what about smaller parties? They never survive to the actual vote. Some voters would like a diversity of approaches, and when neither Democrats nor Republicans reflect their views, voting third party expresses dissatisfaction more clearly than "not voting".

It hasn't worked out for CA, and I can't imagine why any state should adopt it.

How could a closed Primary help in CA?

CA is a lost cause. Rendered themselves irrelevant in Electoral Votes for President.

Will nobody get any CA delegates at the GoP Convention?

There's more than the Presidential race to consider, and there should be more than two parties or (in the case of CA) more than two candidates of the same party.

How would you feel if, for example, both candiadtes for governor were Democrats? Not much choice there.

I don't understand why you are conflating different topics into one. or maybe you don't understand the difference.

Closed Primary.
This is a partisan primary where voters are not allowed to vote for candidates in more than one party. Some states require the voter to declare their party, and then they are given the ballot for that party only.
WI is a Closed primary state, where if a person from a party is voted for, and then any person from any other party is also voted for, the ballot is rendered invalid for all persons and parties. Referendums and ballot measures might not be included in invalidation.
This is the reason that for the recent cycle, Democrats coerced about 7 Libtards out of the race for Senate, so that Democrats could vote for Tim Michels for GOP Governor - ensuring that Dem Evers would remain Governor.

Open Primary.
This is a partisan primary where voters are allowed to vote for only one candidate per office, but any party from one office to another.
CA does not have Open Primaries.

Blanket primaries, Jungle primaries, Top 2 primaries, Qualifying primaries, and Ranked Choice Primaries.
These are normally non-partisan in nature.
CA has a non-partisan Jungle primary.
Each state has tailored their laws to suit their electorate, in order to effect the maximum number of Libtard Democrats elected, even if the electorate is more conservative.

I've seen both Republican and Democrat primary ballots, and they are DIFFERENT. The Republican one allows votes for all parties, the DEM ballot restricts some offices to registered Dem only.

As an aside, I see a third party on the ballot called "American Independent California". It's characterized by Wikipedia as "extreme right wing".

Curious, that. I wonder what their platform is.

So, The Dems count the votes that were tallied on the GoP ballots, as well as their own Dem-only ballots?

Still, having Dem-only ballots does not comport with "Open Primary" at all.

It seems your implication or assumption is incorrect.

In CA, the Dem selection of Delegate for President is ONLY via inclusion of votes from Registered Democrat ballots. Votes from any other ballot are not used for selecting the Delegates for Dem President candidate.

This is NOT an Open Primary.

So, registered Republicans can VOTE for Dem primary candidate, but they (CA Dem party) just throws out those votes?
Then why does the GOP even list Dem candidates on its ballot?
Doesn't that just encourage GOP voters to - literally- throw their vote away on a Dem candidate???
Why would they shoot themselves in the foot that way? It's all downside for the GOP
