Our Government lawyers do not think we have the legal authority to pay SNAP with certain monies we have available, and now two Courts have issued conflicting opinions on what we can and cannot do. I do NOT want Americans to go hungry just because the Radical Democrats refuse to do the right thing and REOPEN THE GOVERNMENT. Therefore, I have instructed our lawyers to ask the Court to clarify how we can legally fund SNAP as soon as possible. It is already delayed enough due to the Democrats keeping the Government closed through the monthly payment date and, even if we get immediate guidance, it will unfortunately be delayed while States get the money out. If we are given the appropriate legal direction by the Court, it will BE MY HONOR to provide the funding, just like I did with Military and Law Enforcement Pay. The Democrats should quit this charade where they hurt people for their own political reasons, and immediately REOPEN THE GOVERNMENT. If you use SNAP benefits, call the Senate Democrats, and tell them to reopen the Government, NOW! Here is Cryin’ Chuck Schumer’s Office Number: (202) 224-6542

Judges Indira Talwani in Boston and John J. McCallum in Rhode Island have declared themselves more powerful than Congress.
Despite Congress clearly passing legislation that "Emergency Contingency Fund" for REAL Emergencies such as Earthquakes, Hurricanes, tornadoes, massive flooding, are not to be used for Fake emergencies, planned pretend emergencies, such as Shumer Shutdown, these judges have overruled Congress.
They demand that funds be illegally diverted to the SNAP fund. They also want to know what other funds could be transferred, during the Shumer Shutdown. How about the District Courts of Boston and Rhode Island be defunded and terminated, and those funds could be transferred to SNAP?
The Shumer Shutdown has no end in sight. Senate Democrats have made no progress in more than a month. They proclaim they will continue to do nothing for November and December, either.

I don't believe this is true. My belief is that they are holding out until the elections tomorrow and then they're going to cave and give in by the end of the week.

They'll just spew the same anti-Trump stuff they always do and the government will reopen and 3 weeks from now nobody will remember any of this happened.

They deserve Mamdani. That will be fun watching New York City fall into chaos in real time.

It's not set in stone yet...

It was the first time in more than a month that congressional Republicans succeeded in persuading a sizable number of their colleagues across the aisle to join them in supporting a shutdown off-ramp.

If this happens the way the article says it will, then I was right on both counts.

The Democrats caved by the end of the week, and the government should open several weeks from now. If they get it done in 2.5 weeks, they can even tell the American People that the Government Shutdown ended before Thanksgiving.

Hunger games: The government shutdown showcases food-stamp fraud and follies

Though I don't have any specific point to argue from the article above, he's missing one major point here. Corporations have been able to get away with not only paying us less than we should be paid for the work and purposefully keeping employees well under 30 hours per week to prevent any legal need to cover any benefits, but many of the larger ones out there have HR departments full of people who go out of their way to get their own employees on these benefits.

When I worked at K-Mart, they were a sinking ship and couldn't give two shits less about their employee's wellbeing, so I ended up helping 6 or 7 people who didn't even know they qualified on food stamps. WalMart practically does it for you.

This is all a huge problem.

If companies weren't legally allowed to keep all of their employees at a low enough amount of hours per week to dodge health insurance and things like PTO and if people were paid a living wage in return for 40 hours per week, including health insurance, than the US Taxpayer wouldn't be paying for it.

Everything has been Six-Sigma'd into oblivion, all the small companies have been gobbled up by a few large international corporations that have no real need to pay any of us to work at all when they can exploit 3rd world nations for pennies on the dollar, and we've gone for so long with all the money being up with the people at the top of the mountain that we've all come to believe their lies that this is as good as it gets. The only way we get back what we've lost by 4 decades of attrition is if we're taking it back from the people who stole from us.

The problem is that they run literally everything. Including our media and our governments.

Still don't know if it's for real yet, but some Independent senator that caucauses with the Democrats that I've never heard of before seems to think it is...

Sen. Angus King: With Shutdown Over, We're Closer To A Vote On ACA Tax Credits

_closer_tonight_to_a_vote_on_aca_tax_credits_than_we_were_this_morning.html

Quote:

Sen. Angus King, an independent from Maine who caucuses with the Democrats, explained why he and seven others joined Republicans on Sunday night to vote to end the government shutdown after 40 days.

"It wasn’t working," King said when asked what the 40-day shutdown accomplished. "How long would it take to not get a response to say it isn’t working? In other words, it’s been six weeks. The Republicans made it clear they weren’t going to discuss the health care issue—the Affordable Care Act tax credits—until the shutdown was over."

"Here’s the way I would put it: as I assessed it, there was zero chance of dealing with the ACA issue as long as the shutdown continued. Now, I don’t know—maybe fifty-fifty," he said.

Nobody wants to congratulate me on another correct prediction, huh?

Okay. I'll just pat my own back then.

If the fact that Hillary Clinton's running mate Tim Kaine was one of the 5 Democrats that joined Fetterman and the other two Democrats siding with Republicans on the Shutdown didn't make you raise an eyebrow, the fact that Dick Durbin was on the list of Democratic defectors should tell EVERYONE all they need to know about this terrible show the Democrats just put on. Dick Durbin already voted against Republicans 15 times on this shutdown, and if nobody higher up ordered him to do otherwise, he'd just keep right on doing that until the sun implodes. Dick Durbin hates Trump more than JB Pritzker and Brandon Johnson.

So... What do all 5 of the Democratic Senators that jumped the fence last night have in common?

They're all old and on their way out.

Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois
Age: 81
Retiring from Senate next year...

Sen. Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire
Age: 77
Retiring from Senate next year...

Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia
Age: 67
No plans on retiring yet, but dude is a very old looking 67 and probably wouldn't mind a forced exit out of politics since he probably never would do it of his own volition since the money and perks are just too good.

Sen. Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire
Age: 67
Another person who was eligible for SS benefits a few years ago.

Sen. Jacky Rosen of Nevada
Age: 68
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacky_Rosen
Ditto...

Sacrificial lambs, the entire lot of them.

Look at MSNBC and all the Lefty shitrags ripping them to shreds over it today.
