That's priceless, dear.

1/3rd of your "job" is being a woman. 1/3rd of your "job" is being black. 1/3rd of your "job" is spewing
Liberal agenda lies.

You're going to be losing your show very soon because of that third part, and you never should
have been hired in the first place based solely off the first two.

I heard of a book which seems to explain this, as well as Thuggery, parts of Sigs, and maybe parts of Sloppyseconds.

He also has another book coming soon, along the same lines.

Interesting.

For those who don't care about spoilers and just want the Cliff's Notes about where we're all heading, I recommend giving Kurt Vonnegut's Harrison Bergeron a quick read.

I liked it. Did you feel it was akin to Idiocracy?

It seems the most analogist term for Libtards would be "wood crickets" - and there is no cure, they just commit suicide. Libtards happily taking the nation down with them.

Sorry JSF. I never saw your reply here until now. Sometimes that happens for one reason or another. I'm going to take the easy way out and blame it on a Necroposting splurge or two pushed it on to the 2nd page and out of my mind until it popped up again just now.

Oh, sure. They're both two of my all-time favorite pieces of media. If I had a Top 100 for a big pot of all written, filmed and produced media of any kind, including video games, they would both easily make that list and rank fairly high on it.

First time I read Harrison was in Jr. Year of High School. I had a really great teacher who always went outside of the curriculum and really expanded our minds and I thank her in part for my current critical thinking skills. Some days she'd come in with lyric sheets for songs and just her CD player and some CDs and we'd spend a day or two digesting those lyrics and just talking about them. I became a fan of acts like Simon and Garfunkle, The Beatles and Gordon Lightfoot because of her. One of my biggest regrets about my young life was not going into the Journalism after school stuff that she headed up when she told me she thought I'd be great at it. I liked the solo-sport wrestling, and that was about it. I cheated myself out of that, Chess Club, and Choir because I was too worried about what other people thought of me back in those days.

HB was among some of the short stories she had us read that weren't in the book that we paid a $100 for but seldom ever opened that year.

At 16 years old, that story cracked my head wide open.

I was honestly a different person after having read it than I was going into it.

It would be hard for me to give an unbiased viewpoint on which story was better... HB or Idiocracy. They both have so many positives and very few negatives. I'm sure if you did a survey, they're both full of plot holes or something that could easily be argued away as nonsense that could never happen, but that's why they're tongue and cheek. They're both self aware and they don't take themselves very seriously.

But they get the message across to most of those who partake, nonetheless.

These works wouldn't resonate or stand the test of time the way they do if everybody didn't know that they were full of truth, camouflaged underneath satire. They both could be argued to be left-wing talking points as easily as they are to be called right-wing politics, depending on which way the wind is blowing in current-year.

My high school teacher was more likely than not an oldschool liberal like my Grandparents on my mom's side were. Nothing like the ones we've seen in the last 20 years. The type that would have been joining those of us here in the RWED in the mid-aughts who were shitting on GWB and that Patriot Act. I'd hate to catch up to her and she what she's doing today because I know we're all so much different than we were pre-internet and I think I'm honestly afraid of what I'd see today.

I'm really enjoying the two relatively new phrases I've been hearing about this. "Toxic Empathy", and "Suicidal Empathy".

I don't know how you really fight any of it man. So many people on both sides are driven purely by emotion, or if there is any intelligence working up there it's just so often overshadowed by the emotion. People don't seem to even want to think.

It probably was that way all along. But before we had an online journal of everybody's thoughts available to read and add to 24/7, and and a few billion of us worldwide at least who make use of it, we didn't actually know what was inside the heads of those around us.

It's really weird when you think about that. Especially with the real Social Media apps like Facebook where people are always posting what they are doing and what they're thinking or feeling online for everyone else to see. These are all things that were mysteries to all of us before, even between family most of the time. Certainly extended family. There was no arguing politics and ruining thanksgiving dinners when I was growing up, but that's all anybody talks about these days when the holiday's come up.

What they're doing to us all now is way different than Idiocracy, or HB, or 1984 or even Brave New World, though there are aspects of every one of them flowing through society today. Maybe what they're doing now is a precursor to any of those stories.

The constant overload of information, everyday. Just completely making people shut down and go stupid. I honestly don't think it will be more than a decade before they start coming out with studies saying that decades worth of online fuckery has actually been leading to tens of millions of cases of literal PTSD that people are suffering in real life, for scars they have just from being terminally online.

Even if you're not a dummy, how are you supposed to think with all of this chaos surrounding everything, every day? How do you even find anybody who you can still talk to who hasn't already snapped a bit and isn't just vaguely repeating just enough of a few headlines and paragraphs they skimmed that whatever they're saying sounds plausible?

I don't need a set of headphones locked around my ears making unbearable noise 2 or 3 times a minute when I've got Ted posting a decades worth of fake news and failed predictions while still thinking he's right about any of his thoughts, while the other thing we deal with here is always telling me to go kill myself.

The People are the noise.

Sometimes I think my biggest problem after getting sober was that I didn't do nearly enough brain damage.

It's always been why of all the terrifying utopian future stories out there, Brave New World was always my favorite vision.

If you're going to make me go back to doing a meaningless, thankless, worthless, unfulfilling use of my time working retail for 20 hours a week for that diabetes medicine I need to live another day, the least you can do is give me something that is going to make me stupid enough to not realize how much life sucks.
