And nobody is talking about the 2nd-hand market yet because it doesn't exist. And it will never exist.

It's all well and good when one of you rich, white liberals are forced to junk your car after 6 or 7 years because there is no secondhand market, but any of these dumb, wannabe shits that didn't actually have the money to buy these cars get stuck, completely fucked over with a dead battery that costs over $25,000 to replace...

Changes nothing. EV's were a dead product before the first one ever came off the assembly line. They wouldn't have any consumer base at all if anybody were honest with you low-IQ retards how much worse EVs are for the environment than combustible engine cars are.

Especially once everyone who bought one realizes that they can't sell it 2nd hand and they're stuck with it until the battery dies.

Anybody who's ever taken the time to actually bring dead batteries, computers and the like to a facility or a yearly citywide trash day, and wasn't just lying about doing it online, knows what a hassle that could be and what a wonderful thing for the Democratic Party to do for its constituents, absolutely free of charge.

It just occured to me that the silliest thing about this might be that the above scenario actually happens in places like California, because of all the laws local laws passed that the always-clueless populace hasn't figured out yet. The tech is simply still too new and there hasn't been much of a reason for anybody to talk about it yet...

What if you're not allowed to recycle your own EV in California and the disposal method is entirely foreign to what you've known your whole lives?

What if this means that there are laws (environmental, most likely... obviously) that disallow even junk yards and non-approved, non-licensed 3rd party recycling facilities to handle the disposal of non-working EVs?

What then?

Did any of you ever bother to crack open the manual or read the fine print in the contract to see if maybe there were certain clauses written in there stating that without proof of X/Y/Z maintenance regularly performed on your EV (at full cost to you every time after 3 or maybe 5 years) that you will be required to put it out of commission with an expiration date from the day of purchase?

I'm not saying that is a thing that is happening, but if I were about to buy any new car I would know what I was getting into before I did it.

Wouldn't that be something? A few million or so people in California driving around in their EVs, blissfully ignorant of the fact that they only have a few more years left to drive that car before it hits an arbitrary expiration date (fully backed by SCIENCE!) and they are all forced to forfeit their primary means of transportation to their local government for a "reasonable market value" of the now-otherwise-worthless scrap metal and battery component local recycle spot prices. (Entirely not at all whatsoever manipulated in anticipation of this windfall bargain bottom spot prices, even further depressed by the glut of cars they'll be working through. Supply and demand baby!).

Nothing they can do about it either as they lawfully agreed to all of it when they signed the paperwork for the loan, before they subsequently forgot or couldn't afford to keep up with the required yearly battery maintenance.

Oops!

Do any of you really even own your coal burning cars?

Maybe one of you ought to go check.
