Hey. Look at that... Somebody in the news is actually pointing out for once what I've already known for a long time.

* Just don't forget he's also more popular the Joe Biden* was in his first and only term at this time as well.

Shame it has to come from FOX, but it wasn't like any Lefty shit organization was going to point it out.

If that bottom part is true, it's one more reason why I'm going to be making my return to the workforce at a good time.

They're going to double the Federal standard deduction next year?

That's huge, if true. A quick google search doesn't turn up anything verifying that claim right now, however, with the Standard Deduction for 2026 currently documented as raising only to $16,100, up from $15,750 in 2025.

The last year that I did work, I had to pay several hundred in Federal taxes making the piddly shit that I made in 2019. Under 2025 deductions, I wouldn't have paid anything, but that's at $11.50 per hour. If I had that same job today, the company is paying no less than $15.00/hour nationwide, and I would have seen significant tax savings had I worked the same amount of hours and the standard deduction were doubled.

I really hope they do this. This federal tax break for individuals making $32,000 or less will be a huge boon to those who need it most. It's good for everybody else too, since that will equate to roughly another $1,700 in tax savings for everyone making over $32,000 a year as well, since they don't start paying any federal taxes on any of the money below $32,000 instead of only $16,000. (a 12% savings on federal taxes which is going to be levied on those in the under $48,000 bracket)

And on a personal level, I'll feel a lot better about working when my tax dollars aren't going to fund things like USAid, trandgender surgeries for prison inmates, abortion sprees and worldwide wars.

OH... and on a side note, get with the fucking program, Indiana.

How come my standard deduction in Indiana is only $1,000 and hasn't risen a fucking penny since I moved here 14 years ago? Especially after Democrats in Lake County raised the County income tax from the lowest in the state to the highest in the state back in the mid 2010s.

You need to raise that to at least the current federal rate.
