This is a rough chart of the number of registered users over time. I got the data by visiting a sample of user profiles (e.g. www.fireflyfans.net/showprofile.asp?u=726) and noting the date they joined. It turns out that the user number count upwards from 726 so I had to subtract 725. It looks like there are many more fans now than there were when fox cancelled it. However, It is not an accurate measure of all Firefly fans because this is only one of the many fan forums.

Whoa.

Power to the people, baby! ;)

Anyone feel like sending this to the knuckleheads at FOX and telling them where they can stick their so-called "ratings experts"?

Ana,

I do!

This chart just shows how much FOX knows about GOOD T.V. Absolutly NOTHING!!!

JOSS IS A GOD!!

I'm intrigued by the fact that it shows its sharpest rise right after the 'Serenity' release......

They still can't take the sky from us!!!

Yep...we are oh so mighty, aren't we folks?

:P

Still..for all the new fans of the 'Verse and the Big Damn Heroes, there are still hundreds of millions of people in the U.S and Canada combined that haven't joined the bandwagon (combined populace of the North American continent is at lest 400 million plus). Still have to convert like mad to impress Fox's hundan execs.

So....let's be bad guys and prove Fox wrong, shall we?

isn't there a sort of revolution the Serenity/Firefly fans can start in order to get the show back? Or atleast have a lot of fun with other browncoats if Plan A fails

Wow. As said, this graph is easily modled by an exponential increase, c^x which means that at any given point we can predict how many people will join by differentiating the fuction, join(people) with respect to people!

too much calculus...

WASHBURNEFAN

I for one have no doubt this graph is accurate, I actually think this is lower than all the fans out there who are closet-browncoats.

How about we propose a new reality show to FOX, one where the winners get to bring back one of their shows. i.e. Firefly?

Everyone I get hooked onto firefly asks me "Why the heck did Fox cancel firefly?!"

My answer as always "It's not reality TV"

Im with washburnefan's idea though! Get em at their own game.

Fox has a rep for canceling really good shows. The more people join, the more chance we have of sticking it to Fox. I'm all for it! Not only did they cancel Firefly, but they canceled Reunion. I really enjoyed both shows, and now I have a real distaste for Fox!

Steamer, I'm not too surprised that the major increase comes *after* the BDM. Fox cancelled the show so quick, and moved it around so much, that a lot of folks that would be natural Browncoats never got a chance to see it.

I was in that group - it was only the luck of a good review in my local paper that led me to Serenity, and then Firefly. Pretty amazing, when you think about it. I don't think there's anything I don't own now, and I'm at 5 new converts and counting. Most of them would never spend time on a fan website, so I wonder just how large the fanbase has really grown!

Wow...the membership's just about doubled since the BDM.

Shiny!
