How loaded is that statement? I don't know or care to know Nugent's thoughts on the issue.

I don't deny that the virus they call Covid-19 exists. It just hasn't directly killed a single person yet.

I'm going to bet that's Nugent's position too, and if that's the case and he ultimately doesn't die from it (which he won't) than this is a complete non story. But the media lies about everything and half the country is full of people who just love eating those shit sandwiches.

Ex-White House aide reveals 'inside story' of what happened when Trump claimed injecting disinfectant could cure COVID-19

Trump famously touted injecting disinfectant as a cure for COVID-19 during a press briefing. Olivia Troye, a former aide, said that the White House Coronavirus Task Force was "in shock."

The task force then had to discuss how to mitigate people actually ingesting bleach, Troye said.

6ix, if you truly believe Covid-19 hasn't "directly" killed a single person (not sure why you added the superfluous word "directly") then everything you have written about Covid-19 finally makes sense. Crazy sense, but logical. I can now see why you've been such a retard about Covid-19 and vaccines and passports for a year.

I've never once wavered from this point of view.

The fact that it comes as a surprise to you now is puzzling, since I know you actively seek out my posts everywhere.

"Directly" is not superfluous. These were all people who were about to die and Covid hastened their end game along.

CDC numbers will show that I was always right about this when they come out in a few years.

Much ado over nothing.

If they didn't make this last year happen, fake mail-in fraud election wouldn't have been possible and Trump would be president right now.

Keep your bullshit here. It will not be answered in my thread.

I had a conversation at work with a Trumptard on Friday about reality. It has always been clear to me that the mental models of reality Trumptards have in their minds are not well matched to physical reality. The conversation I had was about the meaning of the simple word "counterclockwise". The Trumptard actually broke equipment because he followed instructions but he turned a knob the wrong way. It turns out, amusingly to me, that this 20 year old Trumptard can't read an analog clock, which explains why the word "counterclockwise" confused him. Not to get too philosophical, but I don't think 6ix, who is smart, has a correct mental model of Covid-19 just as this other Trumptard didn't have a correct mental model of clocks. Both Covid-19 and clocks reinforce my belief that Trumptards, deep down inside, are fundamentally silly.

Reality confuses Trumptards because it doesn't align closely with their understanding, which is why they have difficulty staying in the middle class. Trumptards are children who never matured, although all of 'em in Texas see themselves as responsible, adult, and dependable. So laughable to watch an overgrown child, with gray hair or balding, going through the motions, and failing, at being a grownup.

Medical vs Environmental Deaths

The first thought experiment considers causes of death of two different kinds, and at first glance it may appear to be an entirely outrageous question to ask:

If the 1.8 million deaths globally attributed to the SARS-CoV2 coronavirus in 2020 required and continue to require extreme measures, why do the 1.4 million global road fatalities every year not require anything but tiny incremental actions? What principle of action warrants immediate extreme action with significant unpredictable side effects in the case of (say) lockdowns, but no action at all in the case of the most deadly environmental health risks? Or to put this another way, why do medical causes of death utterly overshadow environmental health causes of death? Should they? If so, what principle is it that informs us that environmental causes of death don’t matter, while medical causes of death require action, even in cases with severe health (and mental health) consequences?

Lung cancer could be substituted for the novel coronavirus, as it causes 2 million deaths annually and this prompts a variety of interventions in most nations; air pollution could be substituted for cars; it contributes to the deaths of some 7 million people... although cars are, of course, a major contributor to this.

No Trumptards that I know and less than half of Democrats think in a cool-headed manner about consequences. Most wealthy people who didn't inherit money (Trump inherited a billion) clearly think ahead everyday about the consequences of what they do.

Covid-19 appears perfectly engineered to destroy the houses of sand built by populist leaders. Narendra Modi poured scorn on experts and scientists who warned his country faced a "tsunami" of infection. Now the Indian Prime Minister is being harshly criticized for premature triumphalism amid a terrible surge that has people dying in the streets. Former US President Donald Trump's denialism appears to have cost tens of thousands of lives. Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro fueled a disaster by rejecting Covid-19 countermeasures in favor of crank cures. UK PM Boris Johnson paid a heavy personal and political price for ignoring the threat of the pandemic early on.

The pandemic is guaranteed to expose leaders who undermine truth, create alternative realities, ostracize experts and scientists and refuse to take precautions to keep the public safe. Earlier this month for instance, Modi boasted of huge rally crowds ahead of elections in West Bengal. His hubris in the face of the virus recalls Trump's refusal to give up rallies last year at which he boasted the virus was being driven out -- even as his crowds contributed to a building wave of lethal infections that winter.

Sorry, I'm a much worse person than that. I don't fit the description of authoritarian fascist. I prefer to think of myself as Jayne, if he had fought in the Unification War for Alliance, lost, gone to college, got married, started a business. But I'm probably more like Badger -- a low life businessman with roots in the community. I don't soar the level of Adelai Niska. That guy is a 26th Century NAZI. He is probably meant to symbolize an authoritarian fascist who tortures Space Jews/Gypsies to death, for profit.

A sorta mile marker wuz passed today.

The United States iz no longer ahed uv the next 2 nationz combined in infectionz or fatalityz.

For most uv the pandemic, we were ahed uv the next 3, 4, 5 and maybe 6 nationz combined, but with Brazil and now India picking up their pase drasticly, it looks like it's numericly impossible for us to ever regain such a big lead. We just don't hav the population.

At the current pase, Brazil will pass us in fatalityz in 2 or 3 months. India'z infection rate iz akselerating so it coud overtake us in a few months on both measurez.

This iz going by the official numberz, wich are sertainly far below the actual numberz.

Smeed’s Law defines the number of deaths that we find psychologically tolerable. Obviously, Covid-19 has exceeded tolerable limits, which are different for each country, in almost every country.

Reuben Smeed had a fatalistic view of traffic accidents. He collected statistics on traffic deaths from many countries, all the way back to the invention of the automobile. He found that under an enormous range of conditions, the number of deaths in a country per year is given by a simple formula: number of deaths equals .0003 times the two-thirds power of the number of people times the one-third power of the number of cars. This formula is known as Smeed’s Law. He published it in 1949, and it is still valid. It is, of course, not exact, but it holds within a factor of two for almost all countries at almost all times. It is remarkable that the number of deaths does not depend strongly on the size of the country, the quality of the roads, the rules and regulations governing traffic, or the safety equipment installed in cars. Smeed interpreted his law as a law of human nature. The number of deaths is determined mainly by psychological factors that are independent of material circumstances. People will drive recklessly until the number of deaths reaches the maximum they can tolerate. When the number exceeds that limit, they drive more carefully. Smeed’s Law merely defines the number of deaths that we find psychologically tolerable.

Half as many people die every single year from Tuberculosis as the fake Covid numbers claim to have taken in more than the last 12 months, and TB and its complications are the single cause of death that aren't just "borrowing" from other death pools.

Smeed's law says that Americans don't give a single shit about that one because only about 500 of those deaths happen here.

I find how people think moronic AND amoral, especially about the subject of death. There is a direct connection to the moronic AND amoral thinking about building H-bombs to kill everybody on Earth a hundred times, but that is a subject for another thread. From the same MIT article about bombing Germany during WWII:

The British mostly supported Sir Arthur’s ruthless bombing of cities, not because they believed that it was militarily necessary, but because they felt it was teaching German civilians a good lesson. This time, the German civilians were finally feeling the pain of war on their own skins.

I remember arguing about the morality of city bombing with the wife of a senior air force officer, after we heard the results of the Dresden attack. She was a well-educated and intelligent woman who worked part-time for the ORS. I asked her whether she really believed that it was right to kill German women and babies in large numbers at that late stage of the War. She answered, “Oh yes. It is good to kill the babies especially. I am not thinking of this war but of the next one, 20 years from now. The next time the Germans start a war and we have to fight them, those babies will be the soldiers.” After fighting Germans for ten years, four in the first war and six in the second, we had become almost as bloody-minded as Sir Arthur.

Let me point you to part of that quote: "It is good to kill the babies especially. I am not thinking of this war but of the next one, 20 years from now. The next time the Germans start a war and we have to fight them, those babies will be the soldiers.” The UK has NOT been at war with Germany since 1945, so it was completely amoral to kill babies in preparation for a war that didn't happen.

Derek Parfit put a bullet into the brain of people who mindlessly chirp "Morals, however, are subjective in many cases." Mammals and most every human will only have subjective feelings to guide them (and their subjectivity sure as hell shows in how ineffectively they live, work and die) but if you are a tiny bit smarter than a house cat or more mindful than the average person, you will have Parfit to show you that what feels right isn't notably right.

You "feel" it is repulsive. Derek Parfit, by mentioning cats do what they want made me remember when I was a child I heard the phrase "morals of an alley cat." Alley cats are solely guided by their "feelings". I knew as a child that alley cats were fearful, suspicious, secretive and often angry creatures, but I didn't think much of parental wisdom. When I went to war, and later in engineering construction and business, I found that most people I dealt with were being guided all day long by the "morals of an alley cat". Disillusioning experience about most people. The sad and funny part was those people couldn't rise for more than minutes at time above the level of alley cats -- fearful, suspicious, secretive and often angry -- but they keep telling me their low behavior was the absolute pentacle of morality. No, they were no better than alley cats and it showed.

It is too much trouble for Biden to capture and vaccinate all the alley cats of America. He won't try that. Imagine the caterwauling from Trumptards if he did. Trumptards are already making angry noises about what won't happen.

Europe (and the US) Have a COVID-19 Mortality Rate 14x Higher Than Asia

This is the result of both a higher case rate (8x higher) and a higher case mortality rate (70% higher). We still don't have a good explanation for what's going on. There is, obviously, something very, very different going on in Asia, and I doubt that better quarantine and masking rules can truly account for a 14x difference.

The media in Europe and the States were totally obsessed with Trump, Biden and Brexit that's all they talked about and if you look at the mud slinging in the political threads on firefly that's mostly what happened here.

The focus should have been on the virus instead the focus was about what Trump or Biden said and the media were constantly talking Brexit deals or no deals to leave the EU. In East Europe I believe due to their history they have a very skeptical view on Government and are anti-Restrictions because they remember Communism and the older generation does not fondly remember their past experience with a Soviet governments. Parts of South America are rising, I believe Mexico and Brazil numbers are not good one part of South America can look good and then you get a sudden hot spot in Bolivia for example, I also believe the borders in these countries can be fluid, cross border movement and black market trade happens and borders on South American maps lack security.
Aus might be one of the Western countries that got things right.

Asia and the Pacific region seems to have done well perhaps due to an experience with SARs and MERs, I believe some of these countries are less democratically free so can respond with more restriction and military style response during a pandemic. Australia and NZ got praise but its possible Aussie lockdowns while good for stopping a virus they might have hurt mental health and hurt jobs. It's reported that sunshine and UV radiation can help kill COVID-19 maybe this is helping African nations, also in some African nations they have many others risks and diseases and civil wars to worry about, life expectancy is lower so compared to the West covid might not be such a big killer.
The situation is still fluid with new mutations and evolution of the virus showing up, Japan and India have yet to fully report in, I believe thanks to Olympic sports ceremony numbers are rising again in Japan
Perhaps 3,000 to 4,000 are dying in India now, some blame the rise due to India festivals and political elites doing their election stuff in each city and town. Right now I believe India has +390,000 new cases.
The USA has the most who defeated Covid 25 Million survivors although they might live with their own complications after the virus.

Morals are preferences and by their very nature are entirely subjective. Some people even call them 'values' - ie we really really prefer, or 'value', one behavior over another - which only highlights their subjective nature even further. There are no objective morals. Because every moral can be questioned with 'why'. And every 'why' answer is a feeling of preference.

Even the theoretical Vulcan value "the greatest good for the greatest number" begs the question 'What is good?'. Some might consider life to be the greatest good. Others might consider meaningful sacrifice to be the greatest good. Greeks and Romans thought bravery in the face of death being meted out by fate was the greatest good.

And btw, your rejection of others' moral failings doesn't seem to have kept you from being an even bigger moral failure (and hypocrite). I know all about Trumptards' actual morals. Those real morals don't match up to what Trumptards profess for themselves. It's not hypocrisy. It's that they can't. With a little temptation, they fail moral tests. I'm not sure if they notice they failed. Must be some protective psychological mechanism that blinds them, makes them insensitive. Maybe because on the inside they are robots. Maybe they are the philosopher's zombies pretending to be people, but without consciousness. I don't know, but I can see that people who go through life without consciousness have a hard time staying in the middle class. They, when white, vote for Trump -- the man who never had a moral in life. That is a dead giveaway that little Trumptards are almost as hollow inside as big Trump.

The Biggest Remaining Challenge in Stopping the Coronavirus: Miscreants and freeloaders are holding up the rest of us.

On April 15, at a hearing on the coronavirus pandemic, Rep. Jim Jordan harangued Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Jordan, an outspoken critic of mask mandates, demanded to know when Americans would “get their liberties back and be able to move on with their lives.” Fauci explained that the answer depended on progress in vaccination, which in turn depended on how many people were willing to roll up their sleeves. Jordan, who had passed up an invitation to get vaccinated in December—and had reiterated in March that he was in “no hurry” to get his shot—ignored Fauci’s point and went on with his tirade.

This is the paradox we’re dealing with as we try to get control of the virus: People who won’t get vaccinated—in many cases, the same people who defy mask orders and other public health measures—are holding us back from resuming normal life. In many cases, they’re deliberate freeloaders. They’re counting on the rest of us to suppress the pandemic—and thereby protect them—by getting vaccinated, while they refuse to do the same.

Millions of people won’t wear masks, won’t respect social distance, won’t quarantine when they’re exposed to the virus, won’t take recommended precautions to protect the vulnerable—and won’t get vaccinated when it’s their turn, either. A nation of Anthony Faucis is trapped in a nation of Jim Jordans.

A story from what Trump calls "The Failing New York Times": How Humanity Gave Itself an Extra Life

Between 1920 and 2020, the average human life span doubled. How did we do it? Science mattered — but so did activism. ("activism" is the part that Trumptards and Trump get weird about.)

In September 1918, a flu virus began spreading through Camp Devens, an overcrowded military base just outside Boston. By the end of the second week of the outbreak, one in five soldiers at the base had come down with the illness. But the speed with which it spread through the camp was not nearly as shocking as the lethality. “It is only a matter of a few hours then until death comes,” a camp physician wrote. “It is horrible. One can stand it to see one, two or 20 men die, but to see these poor devils dropping like flies sort of gets on your nerves. We have been averaging about 100 deaths per day.”

The devastation at Camp Devens would soon be followed by even more catastrophic outbreaks, as the so-called Spanish flu — a strain of influenza virus that science now identifies as H1N1 — spread around the world. In the United States, it would cause nearly half of all deaths over the next year. In what was already a time of murderous war, the disease killed millions more on the front lines and in military hospitals in Europe; in some populations in India, the mortality rate for those infected approached 20 percent. The best estimates suggest that as many as 100 million people died from the Great Influenza outbreak that eventually circled the globe. To put that in comparison, roughly three million people have died from Covid-19 over the past year, on a planet with four times as many people.

There was another key difference between these two pandemics. The H1N1 outbreak of 1918-19 was unusually lethal among young adults, normally the most resilient cohort during ordinary flu seasons. Younger people experienced a precipitous drop in expected life during the H1N1 outbreak, while the life expectancies of much older people were unaffected. In the United States, practically overnight, average life expectancy plunged to 47 from 54; in England and Wales, it fell more than a decade, from a historic height of 54 to an Elizabethan-era 41. India experienced average life expectancy below 30 years.

During the century since the end of the Great Influenza outbreak, the average human life span has doubled. There are few measures of human progress more astonishing than this. If you were to publish a newspaper that came out just once a century, the banner headline surely would — or should — be the declaration of this incredible feat. But of course, the story of our extra life span almost never appears on the front page of our actual daily newspapers, because the drama and heroism that have given us those additional years are far more evident in hindsight than they are in the moment. That is, the story of our extra life is a story of progress in its usual form: brilliant ideas and collaborations unfolding far from the spotlight of public attention, setting in motion incremental improvements that take decades to display their true magnitude.

This kind of progress is measured not in events but in nonevents: the smallpox infection that didn’t kill you at age 2; the accidental scrape that didn’t give you a lethal bacterial infection; the drinking water that didn’t poison you with cholera. In a sense, human beings have been increasingly protected by an invisible shield, one that has been built, piece by piece, over the last few centuries, keeping us ever safer and further from death. It protects us through countless interventions, big and small: the chlorine in our drinking water, th

New Study Says U.S. Covid Death Toll Is Actually 900,000, Far Higher Than Reported

It’s always been near certain that the U.S., along with every other nation, has severely undercounted the number of coronavirus cases and deaths attributed to the virus. The speed and scale of the pandemic made getting an accurate reading of its impact a challenge, but, as of Friday, the numbers in the U.S. currently stand at more than 32 million reported cases resulting in 580,000 deaths. Those numbers compiled by Johns Hopkins are grim, but a new analysis by researchers at the University of Washington puts the death toll in the U.S. far higher at 905,000 deaths.
www.reuters.com/article/healthcoronavirus-casualties/global-covid-19-d
eath-toll-more-than-double-official-estimates-ihme-idUSL4N2MT4FK

The team at the university’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation says the undercount globally is even greater than in the U.S. and that the global death toll is approaching 7 million, more than double the official recorded tally. The researchers found that the number of coronavirus-attributed deaths in a given country is largely dependent on the levels of testing. In most parts of the world, deaths that occur outside a hospital setting don’t get attributed to Covid because they likely were never tested for the virus. The severity of the pandemic has, understandably, meant that health officials have focused their resources on treating patients and saving lives, not surveying the symptoms of the deceased.

The analysis of by the University of Washington researchers came to its revised, higher death toll by using the excess mortality from March 2020 through May 3, 2021 and comparing it to a nonpandemic year with a few adjustments. In the U.S., the researchers said just about all of the excess deaths could numerically be attributed to Covid because increases in certain types of pandemic adjacent deaths, like drug overdoses, were offset by a declines in other areas, like flu deaths, which were far lower last year because everyone was at home.

Undercounting of Covid-19 deaths is greatest in pro-Trump areas, analysis shows
Quote:

Tens of thousands of Covid-19 deaths are going unreported in the U.S., with far more missed in counties that strongly supported former President Trump, according to new research.

The figures suggest that political leanings have helped suppress the true scale of deaths. In cases where the deceased didn’t have a Covid-19 test, a coroner or medical examiner has the freedom to interpret symptoms.

“There’s potentially latitude to make a judgement call conditional on a set of beliefs about Covid and whether it represents a serious problem or a hoax,” said Andrew Stokes, a professor of global health at Boston University School of Public Health who performed the analysis for STAT.

I have not known any Texas Trumptards to claim the death toll is zero. You might not be alone, 6ix, but "ZERO" is not a frequent answer when Trumptards are asked the question: "How many Americans died from Covid-19?"

Social Security Sees Slowdown in Retiree Rolls Amid Covid Deaths

The rate of growth in retired Americans who collect Social Security has slowed down sharply, and the drop may be due in part to the disproportionate number of deaths from Covid-19 among the elderly.

All those old people, who were sucking at Jack's money, who died of COVID-19 instead, should put a smile on Jack's face. Maybe he'd even cheer about COVID-19, the way RF did about his dead political adversaries.

Except - nobody dies of COVID-19. So Jack has nothing to cheer about except that all those old people are dead. Bummer.

The Pandemic: The true reasons why the West failed

Soon, over 1.5 million people will have died of COVID in Western countries. Meanwhile, in a block of Asia-Pacific countries with a population over twice as big, they lost 18,000 people.

By the way, that death count in the West is an understatement. Counting excess deaths, you get 735,000 COVID deaths in the US. That’s more than all combat deaths the US has ever had (~660k) in all wars.

More at https://3quarksdaily.com/3quarksdaily/2021/05/the-pandemic-the-true-re
asons-why-the-west-failed.html

The countries that did well locked down early on, if and when there were too many cases to handle in any other way. Once case numbers were under control, they kept them low or at zero with a good test-trace-isolate program that included a good border fence.

The European Union started really well, applying a Hammer to reduce cases to a manageable level. By June 30th they were so close!

But then they opened borders and never set up proper test-trace-isolate programs. The rest was written on the wall. The US, meanwhile, never even tried. There, nearly 80% of COVID deaths happened after June 30th 2020, by which time they should have already known how to manage the pandemic properly.

We can say it’s a combination of hesitations and simply poor management. If you live in the West and know somebody who got infected with COVID, ask them about their experience:

Did they immediately receive a call from a contact tracer?

Did they collaborate with the contact tracer?

Did they exhaustively go through all their contacts?

Did the tracers contact all their contacts within 24 hours?

Were they successful getting cooperation from the contacts they called?

Did they get a mandate to stay home?

Were they taken to an isolation facility?

Did an app, the police, or someone else check with them to make sure that they respected the isolation?

Were there mechanisms to penalize those who didn’t respect the isolations?

Was there a similar process for contacts, whereby these were mandated to stay home and their quarantine was monitored, enforced, and penalized if not respected?

Were COVID tests required 24h before a trip? (not 72h)

Were all travelers required to quarantine on arrival?

Was that traveler quarantine monitored and enforced?

Was there a new negative test after 4 or more days required to leave the quarantine?

Every country that has been successful has done some variant of these bullet points. For the countries that failed, they failed at doing most of these points.

For example, most Western governments didn’t get contact tracers’ powers to get cooperation from the people. As a result, many people didn’t want to cooperate, which made tracing contacts extremely difficult.

To take another example, most Western countries still only require a negative COVID test from 72h before arrival. That is an ample window for them to catch the virus and export it.

Western governments were happy fining people who didn’t respect lockdowns—Spain and France had each at least 1 million fines for that—but didn’t fine anybody who skipped isolations and quarantines.

Similarly, most Western governments didn’t set up proper isolation facilities, or didn’t give people money, drugs or food during quarantines.

Tucker Carlson is pandering to his audience, which isn't vaccinated: About 13% of American adults don’t want a COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation. Republicans are the most resistant; nearly 3 in 10 say they don’t want one. The share is greater among rural, Republican men, 35% of whom don’t want to get a vaccine.

Well... these stats are pure bullshit. I've actually been keeping track of these things while doing my passport ban thread.

Even most of the blue states have seen the amount of covid shots being done declining so steeply that they're only taking a small portion of their monthly allotment so they don't go to waste.

Far more than 13% of adults don't want vaccinations.

“There is an overrepresentation of governments led by populist leaders among the worst performers” against COVID-19, Frenk told me, also citing the examples of Bolsonaro (Brazil), López Obrador (Mexico), and Trump. “I’m not saying it’s a cause-and-effect relationship,” he added, “but it’s hard to find any example of a country with a populist leader that has done well.”

Frenk listed four common attributes of various populist leaders who have mishandled the pandemic:

First, “the tendency to underestimate or dismiss expertise,” because “experts are considered part of the corrupt elites that the populist leader is going to defend people from”;

second, “the distrust of science” and of the sort of “independent, critical thinking” that populist leaders with authoritarian inclinations dislike;

third, the impulse to divide citizens between the “good people embodied by the populist leader” and “the corrupt elites,” even going so far as to politicize public-health measures such as mask wearing, rather than instilling in the public “a sense of shared destiny”;

and fourth, the instinct to “trap themselves in a narrative” and then “refuse to acknowledge that they were wrong” and correct course, blaming others instead. The governments that have performed best against COVID-19, by contrast, have implemented policies “informed by science and by expertise and by political leaders who unify the country.”

A Timeline Of "The Great Reset" Agenda

Authored by Tim Hinchliffe via GlobalResearch.ca,

Say it’s 2014 and you’ve had this idea for a technocratic Great Reset of the world economy for some time now, but it only works if the entire planet is rocked by a pandemic. How do you go about selling your idea?

“The pandemic represents a rare but narrow window of opportunity to reflect, reimagine, and reset our world to create a healthier, more equitable, and more prosperous future” — Klaus Schwab, WEF

If you are World Economic Forum (WEF) Founder Klaus Schwab, you attempt to sell your vision of a global Utopia via a Great Reset of the world order in three simple steps:

Announce your intention to revamp every aspect of society with global governance, and keep repeating that message

When your message isn’t getting through, simulate fake pandemic scenarios that show why the world needs a great reset

If the fake pandemic scenarios aren’t persuasive enough, wait a couple months for a real global crisis to occur, and repeat step one

It took Schwab and the Davos elite about six years to watch their great reset ideology grow from a tiny Swiss seed in 2014 to a European super-flower pollinating the entire globe in 2020.

The so-called “Great Reset” promises to build “a more secure, more equal, and more stable world” if everyone on the planet agrees to “act jointly and swiftly to revamp all aspects of our societies and economies, from education to social contracts and working conditions.”

But it wouldn’t have been possible to contemplate materializing such an all-encompassing plan for a new world order without a global crisis, be it manufactured or of unfortunate happenstance, that shocked society to its core.

“In the end, the outcome was tragic: the most catastrophic pandemic in history with hundreds of millions of deaths, economic collapse and societal upheaval” — Clade X pandemic simulation (May, 2018)

So, in May, 2018, the WEF partnered with Johns Hopkins to simulate a fictitious pandemic — dubbed “Clade X” — to see how prepared the world be if ever faced with such a crisis.

A little over a year later, the WEF once again teamed-up with Johns Hopkins, along with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, to stage another pandemic exercise called Event 201 in October, 2019.

Both simulations concluded that the world wasn’t prepared for a global pandemic.

And a few short months following the conclusion of Event 201, which specifically simulated a coronavirus outbreak, the World Health Organization (WHO) officially declared that the coronavirus had reached pandemic status on March 11, 2020.

“The next severe pandemic will not only cause great illness and loss of life but could also trigger major cascading economic and societal consequences that could contribute greatly to global impact and suffering” — Event 201 pandemic simulation (October, 2019)

Since then, just about every scenario covered in the Clade X and Event 201 simulations has come into play, including:

Governments implementing lockdowns worldwide

The collapse of many industries

Growing mistrust between governments and citizens

A greater adoption of biometric surveillance technologies

Social media censorship in the name of combating misinformation

The desire to flood communication channels with “authoritative” sources

A global lack of personal protective equipment

The breakdown of international supply chains

Mass unemployment

Rioting in the streets

And a whole lot more!

After the nightmare scenarios had fully materialized by mid-2020, the WEF founder declared “now is the time for a “Great Reset” in June of this year.

Was it excellent forecasting, planning, and modeling on the part of the WEF and partners that Clade X and Event 201 turned out to be so prophetic, or was there something more to it?
Timeline

Below is a condensed timeline of events that tracks the Great Reset agenda that went from just a “hope” in 2014

How COVID broke the evidence pipeline

The pandemic stress-tested the way the world produces evidence — and revealed all the flaws. The evidence revolution: The idea that medicine should be based on research and evidence is a surprisingly recent development. Many doctors practising today weren’t taught too much about clinical trials in medical school. It was standard to offer advice largely on the basis of opinion and experience, which, in practice, often meant following the advice of the most senior physician in the room. (Today, this is sometimes called eminence-based medicine.)

Kari Tikkinen, a urologist at the University of Helsinki who had run clinical trials in the past, was shocked early last year to talk to physicians who were so confident that untested therapies such as hydroxychloroquine were effective that they questioned the need to test them in clinical trials. It was “hype-based medicine”, he says — fuelled by former US president Donald Trump, who announced last May that he had started taking the drug himself. “It very quickly got ahead of us, where people were prescribing any variety of crazy choices for COVID,” says Reed Siemieniuk, a doctor and methodologist at McMaster University.

It wasn’t long into the pandemic before Simon Carley realized we had an evidence problem. It was early 2020, and COVID-19 infections were starting to lap at the shores of the United Kingdom, where Carley is an emergency-medicine doctor at hospitals in Manchester. Carley is also a specialist in evidence-based medicine — the transformative idea that physicians should decide how to treat people by referring to rigorous evidence, such as clinical trials.

As cases of COVID-19 climbed in February, Carley thought that clinicians were suddenly abandoning evidence and reaching for drugs just because they sounded biologically plausible. Early studies Carley saw being published often lacked control groups or enrolled too few people to draw firm conclusions. “We were starting to treat patients with these drugs initially just on what seemed like a good idea,” he says. He understood the desire to do whatever is possible for someone gravely ill, but he also knew how dangerous it is to assume a drug works when so many promising treatments prove to be ineffective — or even harmful — in trials. “The COVID-19 pandemic has arguably been one of the greatest challenges to evidence-based medicine since the term was coined in the last century,” Carley and his colleagues wrote of the problems they were seeing.

Other medical experts echo these concerns. With the pandemic now deep into its second year, it’s clear the crisis has exposed major weaknesses in the production and use of research-based evidence — failures that have inevitably cost lives. Researchers have registered more than 2,900 clinical trials related to COVID-19, but the majority are too small or poorly designed to be of much use (see ‘Small samples’). Organizations worldwide have scrambled to synthesize the available evidence on drugs, masks and other key issues, but can’t keep up with the outpouring of new research, and often repeat others’ work. There’s been “research waste at an unprecedented scale”, says Huseyin Naci, who studies health policy at the London School of Economics.

At the same time, shining examples of good practice have emerged: medical advances based on rigorous evidence have helped to chart a route out of the pandemic. The rapid trials of vaccines were spectacular successes, and well-run trials of possible treatments have shown, for instance, that some steroids help to fight COVID-19, but the drug hydroxychloroquine doesn’t. Many physicians point to the United Kingdom’s RECOVERY trial as exemplary in showing how quick action and simple protocols make it possible to conduct a large clinical trial in a crisis. And researchers have launched ‘living’ systematic reviews that are constantly updated as research emerges — essential in a fast-moving disease outbre

6ix, I'm pretty sure you didn't click on the article at Nature www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-01246-x

The article talked about the difference between evidence-based and eminence-based medicine. 6ix, you don't have any evidence about Covid-19 deaths being zero, nor are you eminent, but you are crazy and stupid, so double win for you and all Trumptards! Is anyone surprised that 6ix, and Trumptards, generally struggle to stay in the middle class? America is not a kind and gentle land for the stupid and the crazy, even if white.

So...how does one tell the difference between a fully vaccinated person and a not vaccinated person?

Not true at all. My Grandma's vaxxed and she knows who won the election.

It also sounds to me like Kiki and Sigs are vaxxed and they don't share your viewpoints on the outcome of the election either.

And I don't talk politics with people IRL. Especially strangers.

If somebody I don't know comes up to me out of the blue and asks me who won the election, that's how I know that person isn't worth ever talking to again, and I appreciate them letting me know that up front.

I'll give them a smile. Maybe a little chuckle. Then I'll walk away from them and never give them a second glance.

Just imagine where we would be today if effective vaccines had not been developed. Our current strategy of moderate social distancing, intermittent partial lockdowns, and economic assistance for businesses and the unemployed would not have been sustainable for another 1 or 2 years as the covid virus slowly burned its way through an unvaccinated population. We would inevitably have shifted to a different approach – very likely a de facto “herd immunity” strategy that lets the virus rip. Perhaps we would have offered some additional protections to the most vulnerable, but I doubt it.

An alternative strategy of mass testing, contact tracing, careful and humane isolation of infected people, widespread availability of high-quality masks, and improved treatments would have been far preferable, but we did not do the necessary preparation to implement it, even though quick development of an effective vaccine was considered unlikely by many experts, and the value of increasing testing capacity and mask production was understood by many academics, policymakers, and practitioners.

The value of an aggressive, multi-pronged approach to virus suppression and treatment would have been even higher if covid had been more transmissible or had a higher infection fatality rate.

Or maybe we'd say fuck fear and stop living like cowards.

Even with the artificially hyper-inflated numbers, hardly anybody died.

Or to put it another way, there are A LOT more human beings living on this earth today than there were on the day the US Funded Chinese Lab let this thing out.

The devastation of the past year has come with one big silver lining: a massive leap forward in vaccine development.

The Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, and AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccines were made possible by recent innovations in vaccine platform technology. Vaccines, which generally required the use of dead or inactive viruses, used to take years to develop. The new generation of mRNA vaccines (in the case of Pfizer and Moderna) and adenovirus vaccines (in the case of Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca) has simplified the process of developing vaccines for new diseases.

What used to take months and years can now take weeks — or less. In the case of the Moderna vaccine, for instance, it took three days. The “recipe” for the Moderna vaccine was developed in January 2020, before Covid-19 even flared up in the US.

But it’s one thing to come up with a vaccine, and entirely something else to manufacture it on a mass scale. That’s where the world has stumbled and where concerted planning now can make sure we’re prepared for the future. If we’re to have a better chance to fight the next pandemic — and there will be a next one — the US needs to build on these vaccine tech innovations and make investments to establish permanent facilities producing mRNA and adenovirus vaccines.

Vaccine facilities that are up and running 365 days a year — and that could be redirected to pump out different vaccines depending on the outbreak — would be a tremendous weapon for global public health.

And the cost would be well worth it. More than 3.4 million people around the world have died from Covid-19. The cost to the world economy totals $22 trillion.

No, Texas Has Not Had Zero COVID-19 Deaths Since It Lifted Its Mask Mandate

Author Kevin Drum Published on May 20, 2021 – 3:43 pm

Rep. Lauren Boebert went on TV—well, Real America's Voice, anyway—to claim that Texas hasn't had a single COVID-19 death since it lifted its mask mandate on March 2. Needless to say, it takes about 60 seconds to get the real data from the CDC:

Texas was heading steadily downward, but within 30 days of ending its mask mandate deaths from COVID-19 went back up. Total deaths since March 2 amount to a bit less than 4,000. And how is Texas doing now?

Texas is currently one of the worst states for COVID-19 mortality.

So why would Boebert say something so ridiculous? The best answer, I suppose, is that it's Lauren Boebert. What do you expect? But the other answer is that this is an example of Republicans literally being able to say anything. They know their audience will believe them, and they'll never be fact checked in any sense that will hurt them. So if you're going to make stuff up, why not go whole hog?
