Judge Aileen Cannon hit by threats since taking on Trump's case
The judge overseeing former President Donald Trump’s classified documents case has been targeted by dozens of threats since she was assigned the case, The Messenger reported Sunday.
Judge Aileen Cannon has been bombarded with ominous voicemails, emails, letters and social media messages. All have been recorded by the US Marshals, with two deemed serious enough to be sent to the FBI, according to the report.
Cannon, who was appointed to the judiciary by Trump, has faced several calls to recuse herself from the classified documents case. Among criticism of her is the fact that she ordered the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to halt its investigation into the classified documents that were discovered at the former Republican president's estate in Florida months before he was indicted.
Her decision was overturned by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.

No. I'm not a psychopath like you are. I don't threaten anybody. If I ever did, it wouldn't be online or via anonymous phone calls either. It would be in person, and it would be a promise.
BTW... I love how in circumstances such as this one, they don't say "alleged" threats, but when there is actual video of somebody doing something violent that is against the Democrat narrative, they always use "alleged" crime.
Very telling.

Go fuck yourself, Arthur aka Reaverfan.

‘Let’s see if Donald shows up’: Trump deposition date set in $500M Michael Cohen defamation case
Adate has been set for Donald Trump to be deposed in a $500 million defamation lawsuit the former president filed earlier this year against his former lawyer Michael Cohen.
Cohen in a text message to Raw Story on Monday said Trump’s deposition is scheduled for Sept. 6.
"Finally received the date for Donald to be deposed in the Southern District Miami $500 million dollar retaliatory lawsuit against me,” Cohen said.
“Let’s see if Donald shows up on September 6, 2023 for the deposition!”

On a cold, rainy day in November 2019, two frantic grandparents called police in Idaho for a welfare check on their 7-year-old grandson. Neither he nor his 16-year-old sister had been seen in months, and their mother’s story kept changing. Their mother had murdered her children. Her July 31, 2023 sentencing hearing was so high-profile that people lined up outside the Fremont County, Idaho, courthouse the day before for a chance to be in the audience.
Vallow, her fifth husband Chad Daybell, and her brother Alex Cox all allegedly killed Vallow’s two youngest children, J.J. Vallow, 7, and Tylee Ryan, 16, as well as her fourth husband, Charles Vallow, 62, and Daybell’s first wife Tammy Daybell, 49. They further allegedly committed a tasering, an attempted shooting, and a previous attempt to kill Tammy Daybell.
What too frequently gets lost amid this tragedy is that it was likely preventable. Prior to his murder, Charles Vallow spent months trying to get anyone and everyone to realize his ex-wife was growing more and more dangerous. He tried and failed to have her mental health evaluated. His divorce filing stressed she was threatening to kill him. He forwarded her emails to family members, trying to get them to realize the depths of her religious delusions — including evidence that she saw her own children as evil.

I see that Donald Trump has just been indicted for illegally conspiring to overturn the 2020 election. This means we're now up to three Trump indictments, with a fourth from Georgia almost certainly on its way soon. This really is unprecedented, but then again, Trump has engaged in an unprecedented amount of crime.
Will we end up sending a 77-year-old man to prison? That would be unusual. But as the saying goes, don't do the crime if you can't do the time. Nobody forced Trump to do any of this stuff.

The Manhattan district attorney seeking to jail Donald Trump over his hush money payment to a porn star is seeking to potentially weaponize the same piece of damning evidence that nailed the former president at his rape trial: the deposition where he said stars like him get away with sexual harassment “unfortunately—or fortunately.”
It’s now up to a federal judge to decide whether those prosecutors can get a video that shows Trump at his worst: unapologetic about sexual assault, uttering misogynistic comments, and willing to lie to the American public to save his own skin.
It’s a testament to the breadth of Trump’s legal problems that we’re witnessing the collision of two totally separate cases: a civil defamation case about rape and a criminal case about a cover-up.
The video stunned those in the federal courtroom, going a long way to show how Trump remained defiant about his predatory sexual behavior. He called Carroll a liar and viciously attacked her female lawyer. At one point, he told the attorney, “You wouldn’t be a choice of mine either.”

Tomorrow Trump surrenders himself. He is to be arrested "again." He now faces 78 counts contained in three "criminal" indictments. This indictment is against Trump alone. That is intentional so the trial can happen quickly. Before Trump can win office again. And, and, he faces more indictments out of Georgia before the month ends.
I'm so happy, so much winning.

Quote:For now, it’s tempting to take a nihilistic perspective that nothing Trump can do will ever really matter. He’s survived plenty of scandals, investigations, and elections while not fading from relevancy. That Teflon Trump keeps bouncing back is surely a dangerous sign for democracy’s health and a worrying reflection of just how much Trump has changed — or accelerated change — in our politics.
Originally posted by 6ixStringJack:

Mason, who has studied and written extensively about the uniqueness of Republicans’ loyalty to Trump, told me that the indictments may even be sustaining his floor of support.
“For a certain percentage of his supporters, the appeal of him is really his transgressiveness rather than the actual things that he’s doing,” Mason said. “Breaking rules and making regular people feel upset is part of the thing that people are drawn to him for. It’s very difficult to have accountability when the main appeal is breaking the rules.”
And when it comes to accountability, two political factors overlap about January 6: the tendency for Americans to forget about information and the fatigue with Trump-related news that has settled in among voters. In that context, the changing memory of January 6 feels like another entry in the trend of post-truth politics since 2016.
“Americans forget quickly,” Mason said. “We know lots of different things, but when we choose who to vote for, you don’t use everything that we know. We pick certain things that we think are the most important for this particular decision. So if the January 6 stuff is out of our minds, we’re not necessarily going to use that anymore to decide how we vote or who we support politically.”
With Donald Trump, America’s institutions also ran into the problem of dealing with a political leader who has no problem with lying and lacks shame about being caught. What the Trump years have revealed is that the limits of what the public is willing to tolerate in its leaders may actually be a lot broader than we’d expected or wished.
Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) summed that perception up in a quote to HuffPost reporter Igor Bobic shortly after Trump revealed receiving the Jack Smith target letter: “I think it shows that politicians lie and they know they’re lying. … The liar knows that people know he’s lying, and the people that are being lied to know they’re being lied to.” This is the political reality of 2023.

Although Vice President Mike Pence declined to accept Trump's fake slates of electors when Congress met to certify the presidential vote on January 6, the same wasn't true of Republicans in general. A total of 59% of House Republicans supported objections to the count in Arizona and 68% did so in Pennsylvania.
The Electoral Count Act, passed last year, will stop this kind of stuff in the future. But 96% of House Republicans voted against it.
Bottom line: It's not just Trump. We have an entire political party that went along with the coup attempt. There were just enough non-corrupt Republicans to stop it, but it was a close-run thing.

Believe it or not, there is a positive side to the unprecedented spectacle of a former U.S. president being indicted for criminal conspiracy to overturn an election. As tens of millions of his supporters rally to Trump’s side, and with the world watching in appalled amazement, the United States is about to go through a stress test reminiscent of what banks put themselves through (by order of the government, of course, under the Dodd-Frank Act): Can they survive the worst crisis the financial system could throw at them?
Bank stress tests, of course, are merely mathematical exercises. They’re like crashing in a flight simulator, where one can step out afterward and fix whatever went wrong. This is real-time history happening. If Trump succeeds in his campaign to defy the Justice Department (which, if he becomes president, he intends to dismantle a substantial portion of, along with the FBI), escape conviction, and win reelection by painting the several indictments against him as political weaponization comparable to Nazi Germany, then there may be no stepping out of this crash site. Still, stress tests almost invariably make institutions more crisis-proof: Recall that the stress-tested banks did survive the Silicon Valley Bank crisis thanks to shored-up capital resulting from previous exercises.
And it’s difficult to imagine that anything more testing could be thrown at the 247-year-old American experiment than this: In an atmosphere in which a substantial portion of the country no longer believes in facts coming from the federal government, and with a former leader who openly threatens to tear down the Constitution crushing his 2024 opposition in the latest polls, just about everything is at stake. The most fundamental pillars of U.S. democracy that go back to the Founding Fathers—starting with the peaceful transfer of power—are now up against demagogic and populist forces more threatening than anything the nation has seen. And still more indictments are to come, especially related to Trump’s alleged tampering of election results in Georgia—making the test of the U.S. system one that is occurring simultaneously on the federal, state, and local level. Americans today are truly living out that ancient Chinese curse: “May you live in interesting times.” (And no doubt China’s leaders are watching these events—and the possible dissolution of its rival nation—with bemused anticipation.)

The reason for the last charge is to try Trump in a DC court, where he will face a fully-hostile jury. But it also attempts to prosecute Trump for Constitutionally-protected free speech.
Is that what you want to do? Kill free speech?

First, except for cases involving a trial defendant’s confession, the evidence establishing Donald Trump’s criminal intent is as overwhelming as I have seen in my 40-plus years in the courtroom. Second, as pointed out before, none of the six “experts” he allegedly relied upon are likely to be available to so testify. Thus, the only way the former president can rebut the mountain of evidence establishing he knew he lost the election and that his attempts to overturn the result were illegal is to testify in his own defense and somehow convince a jury it was all an innocent mistake.
Donald Trump is incapable of successfully testifying on his own behalf. He possesses no real and exculpatory facts to present to a jury and lacks the emotional and intellectual self-control to get through a direct examination, let alone a hostile cross-examination loaded with the legal equivalent of nuclear weapons. The hardest task for whoever would cross-examine Donald Trump would be to whittle it down to the best three days’ worth of material so as not to overdo it.
Bottom line—in one of the strongest and best-crafted prosecutions imaginable, we have a defendant who is historically incapable of successfully defending himself. That Jack Smith and his team have created a courtroom nightmare in which—absent a MAGA Trumpster somehow getting on the jury to hang a potential verdict—Donald Trump has no escape. This is a reality not to be glided over.

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has suggested that criminal charges against Donald Trump are politically motivated. Medvedev, who was Russia's head of state between 2008 and 2012 and is now deputy chair of the country's Security Council, weighed on the January 6 indictment against the former U.S. president.
Now Medvedev, an ally of President Vladimir Putin — whose relationship with Trump has long been the subject of scrutiny — has also suggested the charges are connected to the Republican's bid to return to the White House.
"Before, objectionable U.S. presidential candidates would simply be killed. Now criminal cases are being opened against them and they are being charged. Well, there is progress," Medvedev wrote on Twitter. It is not clear which candidates Medvedev was referring to, as many of the replies to his post pointed out.
Reporting Medvedev's comments, Russian publication RBC pointed out that four American presidents had been assassinated, the most recent being Robert F. Kennedy's brother, John F. Kennedy, in 1963.
Medvedev uses his Telegram social media channel far more regularly to issue nuclear threats against the West for its support of Ukraine. Last month he wrote that the tensions between Moscow and the West were "much worse" than during the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, which took place under President Kennedy. This made the chances of a nuclear apocalypse "not only possible, but also quite probable."
Medvedev's remarks about Trump follow the Republican's third criminal indictment, but he remains the frontrunner for the GOP nomination. Before his arraignment, Trump denounced the case as proof of the "corruption, scandal, and failure" of the U.S. under President Joe Biden.

Trump calls for Supreme Court to ‘intercede’ against Biden after third indictment
KEY POINTS
• Former President Donald Trump called for the U.S. Supreme Court to “intercede” in the 2024 presidential race.
• Trump, the top contender in the current Republican primary, claimed that dealing with his three ongoing criminal cases amounted to “election interference.”
• The call came a day after Trump pleaded not guilty to charges of trying to subvert the 2020 presidential race.

Trump is a narcissist demagogue. A political leader who seeks support by appealing to the desires and prejudices of ordinary people who feel wronged in life. He offers himself as their way to seek retribution. He presents no rational arguments as he manipulates the fake press and routinely pushes conclusions that are not supported by any evidence. As I've said, he is a narcissist who plays on the emotions of the weak, the disenfranchised.
So, they follow without realizing they mean nothing to Trump. The billionaire who pleads for them to send money so he can pay his bills. And they do!

Ex-federal judge and prominent conservative: ‘There is no Republican Party’
By Shawna Mizelle, Updated 2:26 PM EDT, Wed August 9, 2023
J. Michael Luttig, a conservative retired federal judge and key adviser to former Vice President Mike Pence, declared on Wednesday that “there is no Republican Party” and said former President Donald Trump is even more dangerous than he was in the aftermath of the 2020 election.
“American democracy simply cannot function without two equally healthy and equally strong political parties. So today, in my view, there is no Republican Party to counter the Democratic Party in the country,” Luttig, who advised Pence on how to handle the January 6, 2021, election certification vote, told CNN’s Poppy Harlow on “CNN This Morning.” “And for that reason, American democracy is in grave peril.”
Luttig, who holds bona fide conservative credentials with longstanding ties to the Supreme Court, has become increasingly outspoken in sharing his criticisms of the GOP, calling the party “spineless” in June over its continued support of Trump.
“A political party is a collection and assemblage of individuals who share a set of beliefs and principles and policy views about the United States of America. Today, there is no such shared set of beliefs and values and principles or even policy views as within the Republican Party for America,” he said on Wednesday.
Luttig also sought to shoot down possible legal defenses that Trump could mount to address the federal charges to which he has pleaded not guilty. The former judge said that by charging Trump with criminal offenses of conduct, not speech, special counsel Jack Smith ensures that there could not be a First Amendment defense from Trump’s legal team.
Asked by Harlow if Trump could use the premise that the former president actually thought he’d won the election, Luttig also struck down that defense notion “because the evidence is overwhelming that the former president knew full well that he had lost the election. And the standard will be, could a reasonable person have believed otherwise in the face of the overwhelming evidence to the contrary.”
The former judge on the 4th US Circuit Court of Appeals was a key witness at the January 6 committee hearings last year and throughout his career he was known as one of the top “feeder judges” on the court of appeals level, sending 45 of his 47 clerks to clerk for justices on the high court.
Trump ally and attorney John Eastman, who drafted the point-by-point memo claiming Pence could stop the certification on January 6, was also a clerk for Luttig. Pence relied on Luttig’s guidance when he decided to defy Trump and certify the results of the election on January 6.
While testifying last year before the House Select Committee tasked with investigating January 6, Luttig called Trump “a clear and present danger to American democracy.”
Doubling down on that assertion Wednesday morning, Luttig said he views Trump as a danger even “more so today” than when he testified due to the former president’s continuous push to falsely claim the election was stolen from him.

If you were going to draw up a list of the people most responsible for the latest indictment of Donald Trump, the former president himself would be at the top, followed by the prosecutors who have brought the case. Republicans in Congress perversely deserve a great deal of credit, too, since they could have exiled Trump from political life and perhaps spared him more intense legal scrutiny if they had voted to convict him in the impeachment trial over his role in the siege of the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Ultimately, however, you cannot tell the story of Trump’s historic indictment without Nancy Pelosi. It was the then-Speaker of the House who insisted that there be a congressional inquiry following January 6. And it was the work of the select committee she fashioned that finally appears to have spurred a reluctant Justice Department to action, setting in motion a more intense phase of criminal scrutiny focused on Trump’s effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election. The resulting indictment closely tracks the select committee’s work and findings, presenting a factual narrative that traces — almost identically — the evidence presented by the committee of a sophisticated, multipronged effort by Trump to remain in power that culminated in the mayhem at the U.S. Capitol.

Oh.. P.S. No... I don't drink. Sober now for over 6 years and 8 months, and even weed free for a few years longer than that.
Drinking would literally kill me now anyhow. Hard liquor and I never got along in the first place, and I'd have to shoot so much insulin to get drunk off of beer that I'd be riding the blood sugar roller coaster right into an early grave. It would be impossible to time shots along with the beer intake, and I'd very likely pass out in front of my computer from low blood sugar and they wouldn't find me until somebody called in a wellness check and found me dead.
You wish I was drunk. But I hate to break it to you, even if I ever wanted to go back to drinking, which I don't, it is not even a possibility anymore.
And don't talk to me about brain damage, monkey. The only times you've ever posted anything even semi-coherent were when you plagiarized somebody else's work. And don't even get me started on your inability to Math. I've got 30 IQ points on you even after taking into account however many I lost from drinking.

The Sweep and Force of Section Three
Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment forbids holding office by former office holders who then participate in insurrection or rebellion. Because of a range of misperceptions and mistaken assumptions, Section Three’s full legal consequences have not been appreciated or enforced.
First, Section Three remains an enforceable part of the Constitution, not limited to the Civil War, and not effectively repealed by nineteenth century amnesty legislation. Second, Section Three is self-executing, operating as an immediate disqualification from office, without the need for additional action by Congress. It can and should be enforced by every official, state or federal, who judges qualifications.

I do like the part about Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment being self-executing and any official can judge Trump. For example, Trump wins the election and goes to the inauguration. Then, very disconcerting, he finds Biden there with a gun. The Secret Service will not stop Biden from killing Trump, based on Section Three. Trump's presidency ends before it can begin. Trump's Vice-President gets sworn in as the next President.

See that part about your low IQ.
Quote:
A constitutional provision is self-executing when it can be given effect without the aid of legislation, and there is nothing to indicate that legislation is intended to make it operative. For example, a constitutional provision that any municipality by vote of four-sevenths of its qualified electors may issue and sell revenue bonds in order to pay for the cost of purchasing a municipally owned public utility is self-executing and effective without a legislative enactment.
Constitutional provisions are not self-executing if they merely set forth a line of policy or principles without supplying the means by which they are to be effectuated, or if the language of the constitution is directed to the legislature. As a result, a constitutional provision that the legislature shall direct by law in what manner and in what court suits may be brought against the state is not self-executing.
Just as with constitutional provisions, statutes and court judgments can be self-executing.
Besides, even if executing meant what you think it meant in your diseased brain, the "self" part in front of it would mean that Trump would have to be the one holding the gun and pulling the trigger on himself.
If Biden* were to try that, Secret Service would step in.

Section Three is legally self-executing. That is, Section Three's disqualification is constitutionally automatic whenever its terms are satisfied. Section Three requires no legislation or adjudication to be legally effective. It is enacted by the enactment of the Fourteenth Amendment. Its disqualification, where triggered, just is. It follows that Section Three's disqualification may and should be followed and carried out by all whose duties are affected by it. In many cases, Section Three will give rise to judiciable controversies in the courts. In others it will be enforceable by state and federal officials. But no prior judicial decision, and no implementing legislation, is required for Section Three to be carried out by officials sworn to uphold the Constitution whose duties present the occasion for applying Section Three's commands. Section Three is ready for use.

By the way, knowing Rush's death would follow from his smoking or Trump's from his runaway ambitions to become President are not death threats. Those are predictions. Rush lived 15 years longer than I thought he would but 10 years less than the average rich white male American lives. The same early death will happen to Trump if he continues on his path. But that is not a death threat. It's a bet based on what happened to other overly ambitious politicians.

While anyone can develop the disorder, people who consume alcohol are more likely to develop the condition. According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, 80% of people with alcohol use disorder have a thiamine deficiency.1
Research shows that wet brain is more likely to develop in men than women. This is because men are more likely to be diagnosed with alcohol use disorder, the leading cause of wet brain.2 With the proper treatment and management, it's possible to reverse the damage the condition has caused to your brain.
Characteristics of Wet Brain
Wet brain causes varying symptoms depending on the stage of your condition. A persistent sign is confusion, which often makes it difficult for people with the disorder to realize that something is wrong with them. Many signs of wet brain are similar to alcohol intoxication, which makes it essential to look out for signs of the condition when a person is sober.

Actually, as much as it might pain you to hear it, Ted, the information you have provided here is helpful.
Though I don't suffer from many of the symptoms of Wernicke-Korsakoff, particularly the really bad late-stage symptoms, it turns out that Thiamine deficiency can actually be intimately linked to both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, as Thiamine plays an important role in breaking down carbohydrates. When somebody drinks every day, their kidneys flood the blood stream with Thiamine and alcoholics can have as little as 25% of it than people who don't drink. It also turns out that consuming coffee can deplete the body's stores of Thiamine as well, and even though the levels of coffee that I drink might not effect an otherwise healthy person at my age and build, if I was coming off of years of out of control drinking and heavily deficient in the first place, I might actually be operating at a level of the vitamin that is not healthy long-term.
I've looked through my lab work and it turns out that so far we haven't tested for this. I'm actually a little annoyed about this because I've been completely honest with every doctor I've seen so far about the fact that I've been sober now for over 6.5 years but I used to drink HEAVILY. Yet not one doctor has had any lab work drawn up for B1 deficiency. Because of the nature of diabetes, it turns out that a lot of Thiamine deficiency issues get missed in both type 1 and type 2 diabetics.
I've put in a request for these tests, and hope to have them done this upcoming week.
Although I know you're just being a dick like you always are, and you're using the term "wet brain" as the insult that it is and the term for Wernicke-Korsakoff that the medical community does not like people using, if it turns out that I have a strong B1 deficiency that was chronic and I can get it fixed, you may have just inadvertently saved my eyesight long-term as well as possibly saved me from having actual memory and other cognitive issues later in life. And who knows? By pointing this out, you may have even made my Diabetes even easier to manage since Thiamine plays such an important and active role in the body's use of carbohydrates and glucose.
So... Thanks.

‘Rich Men North of Richmond’ instantly becomes right-wing ‘anthem’
The Trumptards have a Civil War Song to play while they overthrow Biden and reinstate Trump. If you have a crappy, low-paying job, blame your boss, but the song blames the Democrats, as always. The Republicans and Trump could solve the problems mentioned in the song, but they don't because Democrats would get credit.
Praise from Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene: “This is the anthem of the forgotten Americans who truly support this nation and unfortunately the world with their hard-earned tax dollars and incredibly hard work.”
The title of the song seemingly refers to politicians in Washington, D.C., who Anthony claims want to suck Americans dry and “have total control.”
With lyrics that tout some of the most common right-wing talking points, it’s no surprise that the song is drumming up support from Republicans.
“‘Cause your dollar ain’t s--t and it’s taxed to no end, ‘cause the rich men north of Richmond,” Anthony sings in the video.
“God, if you’re 5-foot-3 and you’re 300 pounds, taxes ought not to pay for your bags of Fudge Rounds,” Anthony continues, appearing to slam the welfare system.
In just three days, the song quite literally supplanted Aldean’s “Small Town,” when it jumped to No. 1 on the iTunes Country chart, Billboard reports. And the comments on YouTube have been rolling in.
“This is not a song. It’s an anthem for 80+ million Americans who have been smeared, ignored, mocked, slandered, and robbed by their own government,” wrote one listener.
“It’s exactly how all of us are feeling!” said another. “God bless the hard-working, middle-class Americans, and God bless this great country!”
In another video posted to YouTube, Anthony claimed to be “pretty dead center down the aisle on politics,” but then elaborated on the issue of human trafficking, which has often been found at the center of many right-wing conspiracy theories.
“I can’t begin to conceptualize what has to happen to someone in order for them to think that’s OK,” he said. “I think I drew the line on being quiet when I started to see that becoming normalized and I’ll leave that at that.”

They've all been archived, in case you're tempted to scrap them like you did when you said you could kill trump and you knew how to get away with it by feeding his body to pigs. A little Texas Democrat trick, I presume?

Trump is a serious threat to the union of American states
The former US president seems like a dark throwback to the 19th century, when men like John C. Calhoun, Nathan B. Forrest and Jefferson F. Davis wanted their truth to be victorious.
by Peter van Dalen, a Dutch member of the European Parliament.
Standing in front of the Capitol building in Washington on March 4, 1865, then President Abraham Lincoln stirred the hearts of his audience, declaring America should have “malice toward none and charity for all.”
It was Lincoln’s second inaugural address, and he was determined to heal a divided nation just weeks away from the formal end of its bloody civil war, setting out his aim “to achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace, among ourselves, and with all nations.”
But this magnificent and evocative speech, as well as the actions of one of America’s greatest Republicans, now stands in brutal contrast to the words and deeds of another Republican — former United States President Donald J. Trump.
Trump is focused on his own glory, on his own interests — not the nation’s. He hurls grapes of wrath around the country. And his real menace was finally brought home in the report by the Bipartisan Congressional Inquiry Committee on the January 6 insurrection, when the U.S. Congress was besieged and Trump’s “stolen election” conspiracy morphed into a de facto coup attempt, with criminal intent to overturn the votes in seven states.
Thus, it’s a relief that arch conspirator Trump is now being brought to court by Special Council Jack Smith — but it’s hardly misplaced to still harbor fears.
Trump seems a dark throwback to the 19th century, when the American civil war erupted because men like John C. Calhoun, Nathan B. Forrest and Jefferson Davis wanted their truth to be victorious. The result: a bloody secession. Trump now similarly wants his truth to be victorious. And while that hopefully doesn’t mean an actual civil war, the U.S. is in the middle of a disorienting cultural civil war.
In states and cities, and within families, there is extreme divisiveness; people are either for or against Trump. One can see the clear and present danger playing out on social media, and is left wondering where it will end. It’s also becoming increasingly difficult not to conclude that Trump is a serious threat to the preservation of the union of American states.
To be open, I am not in favor of current President Joe Biden either. I find it almost impossible to understand why the Democrats have decided to back this elderly man as their presidential nominee, and why it isn’t possible for both the Republicans and the Democrats to put forward candidates at least younger than 70 years old.
Moreover, the burning question for those of us across the Atlantic is, what can and should we do in Europe given these worrying developments?

6ixStringJack, you didn't get this far, but President James Buchanan is ranked almost the worst President because he did nothing about Robert E Lee and Jefferson Davis. The worst President, Andrew Johnson, undid nearly everything Lincoln accomplished while cleaning up Pres. Buchanan's aftermath. President Biden is aware of history and what Trump is planning. Biden won't be a Buchanan or Johnson. H

So... Thanks.
Glad I could help.

It took 3 years to close this case. Trump's case will take much longer because Trump has better lawyers. They should be better since they cost $1 million per week:
A federal judge on Monday sentenced Cecily Ann Aguilar to 30 years for helping dispose of Army Spc. Vanessa Guillén's body. Aguilar, the girlfriend of the man accused of killing Guillén, pleaded guilty late last year to one count of helping a suspect after the crime and three counts of making false statements to authorities. She's the only living suspect tied to the 2020 slaying of Guillén, a Houston native who authorities believe was murdered by Army Spc. Aaron David Robinson while stationed at Fort Cavazos, formerly known as Fort Hood. He fatally shot himself as police closed in on him. Unfortunately, Trump won't shoot himself.

Trump was indicted again. What's that? Like 10 times? 100 times? 1000 times?
Who cares!
