It seems Senator McConnell, usually careful not to rock the boat before the upcoming midterm elections, did not set out to tell the electorate that Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid cuts were high on the Republican agenda. It appeared to be a slip as he was caught off guard defending the Republican tax cut . . .
The Republican Party has always been associated with opposition to Social Security. Economic historian Max Skidmore shows that the final vote for Social Security was lopsided--only 2% of Democrats voted against it (because it wasn't generous enough) while 33% of Republicans voted against Social Security.
Historian Arthur Schlesinger (page 311) notes that the Republicans echoed corporate opposition to Social Security. A representative of the Illinois manufacturers testified that if Social Security was passed it would undermine America by “destroying initiative, discouraging thrift, and stifling individual responsibility.” In 1935, Republican congressman John Taber said Social Security “is designed to prevent business recovery, to enslave workers, and to prevent any possibility of the employers providing work for the people.”
In the 1970s the conservative Cato Institute made shrinking Social Security through privatization its primary objective and in 2005 George W. Bush tried to replace Social Security . . .
When Medicare was first being considered Senate Republican Robert Dole (then in the House) voted against it. Also in opposition to Medicare, in a famous 1964 speech, Ronald Reagan explained that his opposition to Social Security and Medicare is why he switched from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party. He called Social Security “welfare” and said of the possible regret in not stopping the passage of Medicare: “One of these days you and I are going to spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it once was like in America when men were free.”
When Vice President Mike Pence was in Congress he opposed passage of Medicare's Part D, the drug benefit, and complained that Bush's proposal to partially privatize Social Security was not enough; Pence proposed deeper cuts to the Social Security program than President Bush. . . .

Well, it certainly doesn't tell the SECONDRATE "you" anything, because there's an epic logic-fail going on with the SECONDRATE "you", most likely caused by an emotional glitch of self-hate projected on to others, plus a soupcon of PTSD. Until the SECONDRATE "you" fixes its emotional glitch, the logic unit will continue to bonk.- SIGNYM
The Mueller report is unequivocal in concluding that even if Trump is criminally innocent of obstruction, it is not for lack of trying. The main reason the investigation wasn’t completely thwarted was not that the president didn’t “endeavor” to thwart it — the definition of criminal obstruction — but rather that Trump’s subordinates refused to comply. -SECONDRATE
You may have noticed, SECONDRATE, that in this country we don't jail people for what they WANT to do, because that would be jailing people for thought-crime. We only jail people for what they have actually done.
And the reason why Mueller made such a pitch for impeachment (aside from the fact that he's a lying deep-state weasel who joined in on the Iraq WMD fiction as easily as he did on the RUSSIA!RUSSIA! fiction) is because he knows that impeachment is a POLITICAL process, not a legal one, and he was hoping that if Congress couldn't impeach Trump they would at least make political points from then until the election.
There are a lot of policy reasons to not like Trump. There are a lot of policy reasons to not vote Republican.
Democrats should be focusing on THOSE, not on RUSSIA!RUSSIA! or Trump's taxes or "obstruction of justice" which are all just empty (and in fact counterproductive) virtue-signalling.
If the Dems keep at it and nothing else changes, Trump has a great chance of winning the next election.
When will the Dems come up with something other than Trump Derangement Syndrome?

Ok, this thread has gone on long enough.
The people here suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome should, at SOME point, absorb the reality that - just like there was NO collusion* with Russia - IMPEACHMENT IS A DEAD ISSUE. It'll never happen, despite the endless digging into the various pretexts and hoped-for causes ... from Trump taxes to so-called "obstruction" ... impeachment is an itch that'll NEVER be scratched,
So, why are we still talking about this?
Turn your thoughts to more productive uses, something BESIDES trying to rewrite history/ deny reality with an endless stream of words, because no matter how much you throw words at this board Trump isn't going to be impeached.
Here is a thread that deserves your attention:
my platform as presidential candidate - what's yours
http://fireflyfans.net/mthread.aspx?tid=63022
Maybe if we bang our heads together we can come up with a series of potential policy options ... Medicare for all or universal basic income? How to save Social Security? How to reduce greenhouse gases? How much would scaling bakc our military options save us? ... that makes fiscal and economic sense.
It's very possible that the economy will implode and hand the Dems an easy win. It's also very possible that the economy will hang together just long enough to allow Trump a shot at victory.
Either way, there are a lot of people ... people BESIDES the dem base ... who are willing to vote for someone besides Trump ... and the Dems should make sure that their candidate is credible enough to attract these independent voters, which means they need to run on something BESIDES Trump Derangment Syndrome.
Let's sharpen our thoughts on who we might want to run, and why. There are 23 (more?) candidates running, so here's a thread on that topic, not too heavily traveled but with some interesting discussion, that should help us focus on what matters.
Dems, Dem-lites, and Independents: Who ya backing at this point and why?

Quote:I'll pick a policy issue: the exploding national debt. Voters don't understand a damn about it and they don't want to. When the debt was rising under Obama, the Republicans blamed Obama, not Bush's crash of 2008 for reducing tax receipts. When debt continues to rise under Trump, there is complete denial by the GOP that it has anything to do with the tax code being bent in favor of the wealthy. But what voters will understand is that Trump cheated on his taxes. First, the Democrats have to get their hands on his business records and tax returns, then calculate how much Trump underpaid.

For the Democrats to pay for their policy changes, wealthy people such as Trump and myself will have to pay for it. The tax collection system won't get revised under a Democratic President unless Democrats can firmly pound into the heads of voters that all wealthy people, and especially tax cheating Trump, are swindling the nation. Voters won't understand the arguments by economists, but there is a slim chance they will understand that Trump is a tax crook, if the Democrats can investigate his tax returns.
Signym, do you think a majority of voters will understand The World Bank's new report out on Inequality 2018, if Democrats talked about it? Not a chance. But it is possible to make them understand the GOP supports tax cheating Trump.
https://angrybearblog.com/2019/06/income-inequality-im-tooting-my-own-
horn.html
Go ahead and read all about Inequality. I did, but I'm a 1 Percenter. 99% of voters aren't and they aren't interesting in understanding how they are being screwed or who to vote for (D or R?) to fix it. Voting for a Democrat as President but leaving at least 41 GOP Senators means it won't be fixed. A huge number of GOP Senators will have to lose if there is a chance for the system to change for the better. No amount of talking by Democrats about inequality and tax policy will every make the voters understand, but catching a thief like Trump just might -- it is a very slim chance.

"I am astonished by what I’m about to write: I keep laughing. The next moment, still wearing correct business attire, shirt, tie, suit jacket, overcoat, he opens the overcoat, unzips his pants, and, forcing his fingers around my private area, thrusts his penis halfway — or completely, I’m not certain — inside me. It turns into a colossal struggle. I am wearing a pair of sturdy black patent-leather four-inch Barneys high heels, which puts my height around six-one, and I try to stomp his foot. I try to push him off with my one free hand — for some reason, I keep holding my purse with the other — and I finally get a knee up high enough to push him out and off and I turn, open the door, and run out of the dressing room.
The whole episode lasts no more than three minutes. I do not believe he ejaculates."
This episode hasn’t gotten an awful lot of attention. This is the first I’ve written about it, for example. Why? I don’t think it has anything to do with media outlets not taking rape allegations seriously. The real answer is almost worse: (a) everybody just assumes the story is true and (b) everybody knows that it will have no effect on either Trump’s fans or his Republican Party colleagues. Trump will issue a pro forma denial; nobody will take it seriously; and that will be that. Just like the other 15 times.

In reference to E. Jean Carroll, Trump says: “Number one, she’s not my type,” but he leaves open the possibility that any woman who is his type, might be the type of woman he would consider raping if she rejected his sexual advances.
Likewise, in refuting the allegations, his second line of defense is historical inaccuracy: “Number two, it never happened,” rather than asserting he would never act in such a way.
One could argue that it would be pointless for Trump to flatly assert that he is not a rapist, since it is a universally known and irrefutable fact that Trump is a liar.
But since we all know he’s a liar, whenever he says, “it never happened,” there’s all the more reason to suspect it did happen.

BTW - I GUARANTEE you won't be able to come up with any evidence - which means, more than someone's say-so - that Trump is a serial rapist.
AND IN ADDITION I GUARANTEE that you'll change the subject since you have no evidence to justify your farts on the topic.
1kiki, it's almost like you are being paid by the word to defend Trump as his lawyer. His actual lawyers are making a case that there needs to be "proof" that foreigners are paying Trump. Trump's lawyers' position is that all foreigners doing business with Trump's companies are presumed to be getting Trump's services for free until proven different and Trump's lawyers aren't cooperating with showing how much Trump is being paid. In the case of Trump raping women, the lawyers' argument is that there needs to be proof Trump had an orgasm.
Trump loses bid to halt Democratic lawsuit over foreign payments.
The lawsuit against Trump accuses him of violating the so-called emoluments clause of the Constitution, which bans U.S. officials from accepting gifts or payments from foreign governments without congressional consent.
The judge issued a 48-page decision that rejected Trump’s argument that emoluments were limited essentially to bribes, calling that definition “unpersuasive and inconsistent.”
Sullivan said he agreed with the congressional Democrats who brought the case that the clause should be read more broadly as barring an official from taking any payment of any kind whatsoever from a foreign state without congressional approval.
The ruling allows the Democratic plaintiffs, led by Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut and including members of the House of Representatives and Senate, to begin the so-called discovery phase of the case in which they will seek records from Trump’s real estate company.

Quote:1kiki, now you're off litigating evidence vs. proof. You really are a nutjob. Do you recall that Trump's lawyer is in prison for paying bribes to two women? Trump still denies he had sex with the women and there is no "proof" he did, other than the women saying Trump did have sex, but his lawyer remains in jail despite that. Trump says his lawyer lied about the women, the bribes, everything. Trump also said he is not a serial rapist, either, so he must be "innocent" because there is no "proof"/evidence, other than 16 women saying he raped them.

Then there is Trump taking money from foreigners. He denied it happened. He says nothing can be "proved" and his lawyers won't turn over business records of the payments.
Then there are Trump's taxes. He denies he cheated, and says nobody can "prove" he did. But he won't turn over his tax records, unlike every President, Vice-President and all candidates. There are many reasons to think he did cheat and no reasons to believe him or his lawyers.

Quote:1kiki, the topic is unchanged: Trump is a liar. As President, Trump should make a convincing case that he is not cheating on his taxes, but he won't make the case, feeling only the need to say he isn't cheating. He feels no need to reveal his tax returns or business records to demonstrate his honesty. Even Nixon cooperated on his taxes. Congress discovered he owed taxes equal to 50% of Nixon's net-worth. Nixon willing paid. Trump is not willing.

As President, Trump needs to convince us that his businesses are not taking bribes from foreigners, but he can't be bothered to make that case, either. He says he is not being bribed, and he could produce his business records to prove it, but his lawyers fight that in court.
Then there is the money-laundering, but Trump thinks denying he did it is enough, despite that he could prove it, but only if he would try. He won't try.
http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2019/05/deutsche-flagged-trump-kushner-
for-money-laundering-report.html
Then there is the raping. Ask Trump for a DNA sample. You won't get one. Ask him about his lawyer paying women and his lawyer going to jail. Trump will call his lawyer a liar and Trump says he never had sex with those women. The women disagree.
In every case of possible crimes, Trump only gives you his word to defend himself. He won't give anybody the evidence that he is innocent despite his complete control of evidence. He won't share because he knows it shows he is guilty.
1kiki, stop taking Trump's word for his innocence and start demanding he prove it with all the evidence he has kept hidden about himself and his businesses and his taxes. He is not a private citizen. He needs to stop saying "Believe me" and start proving it. Since Trump won't start, I think it is because the evidence Trump controls proves he is guilty.

This week there was a murder trial where the accused slashed, superficially, his own throat. The judge told jurors to ignore this outburst and not use it as evidence in the case. Likewise, Trump superficially slashing his own throat by accusing his White House Counsel, Don McGahn, of lying under oath to Mueller. Trump slashed again by claiming executive privilege and barring McGahn from testifying to Congress. Please ignore the weird verbal outbursts in public by Trump and the accused murderer. Don’t use the outbursts as evidence. Except it is evidence of guilt.

Trump, Barr and others have employed a double-barreled approach: first, loudly misrepresent Mueller's findings ("No Collusion," "No Obstruction," "Total Exoneration") and second, count on the American public to not bother reading the 400-plus page report. For the months since the public release of the Mueller report, it's been so far, so good. But now -- with Mueller set to testify under subpoena in Congress on July 17 -- time is almost up on Trump and Barr's prolonged public campaign of distortion and denial.

Donald Trump has personally accused former Special Counsel Robert Mueller of committing a crime, claiming he deleted sensitive information during his Russia investigation. The president did not produce any evidence whatsoever to back up the assertion.
Anchor Maria Bartiromo barely managed to ask a question of the president, mostly responding “wow” to Trump’s various attacks. Trump’s targets included but weren’t limited to: Mueller, Joe Biden, China, Europe, Google, Twitter, and Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell. He also issued a threat to Japan, where he’s due to visit this week.
As usual, Trump was at his angriest when discussing Mueller.

Trump impeachment vote fails overwhelmingly
Politico
By KYLE CHENEY 12/06/2017 02:15 PM EST
House Democrats overwhelmingly joined Republicans on Wednesday to defeat an attempt to impeach President Donald Trump. But 58 Democrats supported the bid to consider impeachment over the objections of House Democratic leaders, who viewed the measure as a distraction in a Republican-controlled Congress.
The motion to sideline the measure — killing the effort — was approved 364-58, with four Democrats voting present.
The vote was forced by Rep. Al Green (D-Texas), who introduced articles of impeachment. “Now is not the time to consider articles of impeachment,” Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi and Minority Whip Steny Hoyer said in a joint statement, shortly after Green introduced his articles of impeachment.

Federal judge orders documents released in Trump hush money probe as investigation winds down
Federal prosecutors have ended their investigation into the Trump Organization's involvement in hush-money payments to two women who alleged they had affairs with President Donald Trump, according to court documents filed in a New York court on Wednesday.
The conclusion of the investigation prompted the judge in the case to order prosecutors to release unredacted documents related to the raid of former Trump attorney Michael Cohen's home in April 2018, including copies of the warrant, warrant applications and supporting affidavits.
Typically, prosecutors do not announce the conclusion of an investigation that doesn't result in formal charges being filed. News of the probe's conclusion came in the judge's order to release unredacted versions of the documents. ...
"The campaign finance violations discussed in the Materials are a matter of national importance," a federal judge wrote in his order, denying the government's request for limited redactions. "Now that the Government's investigation into those violations has concluded, it is time that every American has an opportunity to scrutinize the Materials."

I think this will do more lasting damage than Richard Nixon's surreptitious burglaries did."
Will discusses his new book, “The Conservative Sensibility,” and says that the sensibility as he defines it is currently “in the ranks of the homeless.”
“It’s a persuasion without a party, which is fine,” he says. “It may have to hope that the Republican Party, when it ceases being a cult surrounding the particular personality of the 45th president, that it will snap back. I’m not sure it will. But for the moment, it is homeless.”

"What Donald Trump's revolutionary effect has been [is] to make things acceptable that were unthinkable until recently," Will said on the Times podcast, asking host Pamela Paul if she could even conceive of past presidents like John Kennedy or Dwight Eisenhower uttering any of the many things Trump has said in office.
The words of Will that run truest to me were these: "You cannot unring these bells." I think he is 100% right on that. The idea that once Trump leaves the White House -- whether involuntarily in January 2021 or voluntarily-ish in January 2025 -- the impacts and reverberations of what he has done to the presidency (and to the way in which the presidency is covered) will disappear is a fallacy.
Politics is a copycat game. Always has been. What Trump has taught politicians is that telling the truth isn't all that important -- especially if you have your own bullhorn (in Trump's case Twitter + Fox News) to make your own "alternative facts." And that presidential norms and the idea of "being presidential" is a meaningless construct. And a lot more "lessons" that will be destructive to the way in which people run for president and act once they get elected.
The Point: What Will knows is that Trump has already changed the presidency -- and our culture -- in profound ways that will not simply "snap back" once he leaves office. His imprint on the office is deep and wide.

Circus Mueller Is Delayed
Authored by Raul Ilargi Meijer via The Automatic Earth blog,
The circus will be coming to town a week later, but not to worry, the show will go on longer and there will be many added attractions, including a full troop of 800-pound gorillas and an entire herd of 8000-pound elephants in the room. And once the balancing acts, the clowns and the ferocious beasts pack up and move on, America might find itself without a Democratic Party, or at least one it would recognize.
The circus is the testimony of Robert Mueller before the House Judiciary (extended to 3 hours) and Intelligence Committees (2 hours). The Democrats will aim to use Mueller’s words to finally achieve their long desired impeachment of Donald Trump. But is there anyone who’s not a US Democrat who thinks that is realistic? House Speaker Nancy Pelosi doesn’t seem to think so.
In order for the Dems to get their wish, Mueller would have to say a lot of things that are not in his report. It all appears to hang on the interpretation of his assessment that a sitting president cannot be prosecuted, which the Dems take to mean that there actually was a crime that could -or should- be prosecuted.
It’s not clear why the hearing was delayed from July 17 to 24, but don’t be surprised if it has to do with US District Judge Dabney Friedrich’s decision that Mueller must stop talking in public about a case that is in front of her, because his words might prejudice a jury. That is the case that Mueller brought in February 2018 against Internet Research Agency, Concord Management, their owner Yevgeniy Prigozhin (aka Putin’s cook), and 12 of his employees.
Quote:
Mueller thought he could get away with presenting a case against them because they would not show up, but Prigozhin did hire a major law firm. Ironically, Friedrich has reportedly also decided that the lawyers cannot talk about the case to their own client(s). She hasn’t thrown out the case or anything, she’s simply told everyone including Mueller to stop discussing it in public.
So it’s quite possible that once the House Democrats figured this out (the decision stems from May 28 but was unsealed only on July 1), they had to change strategy. Mueller has been barred from saying a single word about it, including in the House.
In his report, Mueller tried to establish a link between the Russian firms and the Kremlin, but never proved any such link. They are accused of meddling in the 2016 election through emails and social media posts, an accusation that looks shakier by the day.
With that part of his report out of the way, what is left for him to talk about? He himself already gave up on the whole collusion narrative, which would appear to leave only obstruction. Well, there’s the Steele dossier, but with John Solomon blowing another gaping hole in it https://thehill.com/opinion/white-house/453384-fbis-spreadsheet-puts-a
-stake-through-the-heart-of-steeles-dossier yesterday, that may not be the wisest topic to discuss on the House floor. By now, only the very faithful still believe in the dossier.
The Republicans surely don’t, and they also happen to be House members, and [THEY] get to ask questions of Mueller on the 24th. The spectacle last night where Nancy Pelosi insisted on calling Trump a racist was nutty (you don’t do that in the House), but the Mueller hearings promise to be much much more nuts still.
In the background a second investigation is playing out: DOJ IG Michael Horowitz has been probing if DOJ or FBI officials abused their powers to spy on the Trump campaign. His report has been delayed, if reports are correct, because Christopher Steele at the very last minute agreed to testify. Those talks apparently were long and detailed. Wonder what he had to say.
And there’s a third probe too: AG Barr has tasked John Durham, the US

Microsoft will give away software to guard U.S. voting machines
Microsoft said it was rolling out a free, open source software product called ElectionGuard, which it said uses encryption to "enable a new era of secure, verifiable voting." The company is working with election machine vendors and local governments to deploy the system in a pilot program for the 2020 election.

Mueller's FBI 'Attack Dog' Weissmann Begged Ukrainian Oligarch For Dirt On Trump ....
Quote:
How Mueller deputy Andrew Weissmann's offer to an oligarch could boomerang on DOJ
By John Solomon, opinion contributor
The ink was still drying on special counsel Robert Mueller’s appointment papers when his chief deputy, the famously aggressive and occasionally controversial prosecutor Andrew Weissmann, made a bold but secret overture in early June 2017.
Weissmann quietly reached out to the American lawyers for Ukrainian oligarch Dmitry Firtash with a tempting offer: Give us some dirt on Donald Trump in the Russia case, and Team Mueller might make his 2014 U.S. criminal charges go away.
The specifics of the never-before-reported offer were confirmed to me by multiple sources with direct knowledge, as well as in contemporaneous defense memos I read.
Two years later, Weissmann’s overture may have far-reaching consequences for the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), here and abroad. His former boss, Mueller, is slated to testify Wednesday before Congress.
The DOJ, Mueller’s office and Weissmann did not immediately respond to emails requesting comment on Monday.
At first blush, one might ask, “What’s the big deal?” It’s not unusual for federal prosecutors to steal a page from Monty Hall’s “Let’s Make a Deal” script during plea negotiations.
But Weissmann’s overture was wrapped with complexity and intrigue far beyond the normal federal case, my sources indicate.
At the time, pressure was building inside the DOJ and the FBI to find smoking-gun evidence against Trump in the Russia case because the Steele dossier — upon which the early surveillance warrants were based — was turning out to be an uncorroborated mess. (“There’s no big there there,” lead FBI agent Pete Strzok texted a few days before Weissmann’s overture.)
Likewise, key evidence that the DOJ used to indict Firtash on corruption charges in 2014 was falling apart. Two central witnesses were in the process of recanting testimony, and a document the FBI portrayed as bribery evidence inside Firtash’s company was exposed as a hypothetical slide from an American consultant’s PowerPoint presentation, according to court records I reviewed.
In other words, the DOJ faced potential embarrassment in two high-profile cases when Weissmann made an unsolicited approach on June 4, 2017, that surprised even Firtash’s U.S. legal team.
To some, the offer smacked of being desperately premature. Mueller was appointed just two weeks earlier, did not even have a full staff selected, and was still getting up to speed on the details of the investigation. So why rush to make a deal when the prosecution team still was being selected, some wondered.
Second, Weissmann’s approach was audaciously aggressive, even for a prosecutor with his reputation.
According to a defense memo recounting Weissmann’s contacts, the prosecutor claimed the Mueller team could “resolve the Firtash case” in Chicago [where commodities trading takes place- SIGNY] and neither the DOJ nor the Chicago U.S. Attorney’s Office “could interfere with or prevent a solution,” including withdrawing all charges. “The complete dropping of the proceedings … was doubtless on the table,” according to the defense memo.
Firtash’s team suspected Weissmann’s claim was exaggerated. While Mueller had full authority to investigate the Russia case, he wasn’t an independent counsel separate of the DOJ but, rather, a special counsel subject to the attorney general’s oversight.
The third red flag came in how much Weissmann communicated to Firstash’s lawyers about his hopes for the Ukrainian oligarch’s testimony.
Prosecutors in plea deals typically ask a defendant for a written proffer of what they can provide in testimony and identify the general topics that might interest them. But Weissmann appeared to go much further in a July 7, 2017, meeting with Firtash’s American lawyers and FBI agents, sharing certain private theories of the nascent special counsel’s investigation into Trump, his f

This thread was started 2 years and 27 weeks ago. A poor example of a countdown. Unless you're CNN, which is why their viewers are all asleep.
I will give you an example from today's front page Houston Chronicle:
Trial to start for man charged in 2014 Spring family massacre.
After a man posing as a FedEx delivery driver forced his way into her family’s house and fatally shot her parents and four siblings, 15-year-old Cassidy Stay played dead until the killer fled the scene.
Bleeding from a wound on her head where a bullet had grazed her, Cassidy managed to call 911.
“It was my Uncle Ronnie; he has been stalking my family for three weeks,” she told paramedics when they arrived at the Spring-area house, according to court documents. “He said he would shoot us and kill us.”
Cassidy would be the lone survivor of the July 2014 massacre, which Harris County prosecutors say unfolded in a moment of rage as Ronald Lee Haskell hunted for his ex-wife, Melannie Lyon. Cassidy’s parents had been providing support to Lyon, the sister of Katie Stay, Cassidy’s mother. Haskell didn’t find his intended target, prosecutors said, but opened fire on the entire Stay family.
Cassidy’s phone call is believed to have prevented more violence, as Haskell was captured on the way to Lyon’s parents’ nearby home, police said.
Much has happened since that windy afternoon on July 9, 2014; Cassidy Stay is now 19, engaged and attending Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
About 1,400 miles away in a Houston courtroom, Haskell will go on trial in the six killings today, his 39th birthday.
Court filings show defense attorney Douglas Durham intends to present an insanity defense in the case, which has been rescheduled 20 times. The start of the trial will end a long wait for friends, neighbors and relatives of the Stays.

So that you don't misunderstand the connection between Trump and this murder trial, keep in mind that for as long as the Senate has 34 Republicans in it, an impeachment will never remove Trump. This murder trial has been rescheduled 20 times. Open and Shut cases can be dragged out for many years, whether for political reasons or procedural reasons. When Trump is an ex-President, the cases against him will proceed even slower than this trial for a murder in 2014, a murder that has a witness who was shot by the killer.

Yup. Took Mueller two whole years to find nothing.
It's taken the Democrats so long to start to consider to re-investigate Trump with a possibility that they might impeach after that post-investigation-investigation is concluded that it's lead JO to start to go insane because all of the nightmare seeds that Keith Olbermann planted in his head started sprouting.
I'm sure you'll impeach Trump by 2030 though.

The accused man stared straight ahead while attorneys and first responders introduced the case, exposing jurors to the horror of the scene where Haskell has admitted to opening fire July 9, 2014 on seven members of the Stay family, killing all but one.
The defense maintains Haskell was insane when he carried out the massacre. Prosecutors contend, however, that the slayings and events that preceded them were too premeditated for that to be true.

There are only two, make that three things, that I am very confident about Trump:
He cheated on his taxes, he is mentally incompetent, and the Senate won't convict him so long as there are 34 GOP Senators. But it would set a good example for other tax cheating billionaires if the amount Trump had cheated on his taxes was known to within plus or minus one billion dollars.
Trump can use the insanity defense. He could truthfully say, "I was insanely greedy. Believe me, I still am."
