Wish I could be taking my boy around trick-or-treating (he turned two yesterday, so cute!) But I've gotta work tonight. At least his mom will be able to take him.

I don't have a costume this year. Just a black shirt with the word "Boo!" on the front.

If I had found a decent coat, I would have gone as a Random Browncoat (I would still have had to buy some boots, but that's easier to find that a quality duster coat that's actually brown and not expensive), but I didn't (I can't really do the whole Halloween thing tonight this year due to an evening class, I had to settle for a couple of costume events the end of last week). I ended up going as Misato Katsuragi from Neon Genesis Evangelion. On the plus side, I did look pretty good in it. Actually, I really would have liked to go as River, but I would have had to make the dress (nobody'd even have the off chance of recognizing me if I wore something she wore during the TV series), and I just didn't have the time and skill to do that. If I did go as River someday, though, I have the benefit of a friend who collects weaponry... too bad the only other place I would want to wear it is a convention that doesn't (for good reason, obviously), allow weapons. :P Anyway, I have the dark, sometimes-stringy hair down, so it's too bad I couldn't get a River costume done in time. Damn my lateness in becoming a Browncoat! If I'd have become an obsessed fan a couple of weeks earlier, I might have been able to get the guy who made most of my Misato costume to make me a River costume or a Browncoat costume (or at least the coat). :P Hmm... well, JACON and MegaCon are months away... ;) Maybe I will get him to make me one at some time before then.

So you're going as River, then, though? Neat. Did you use the costume from the movie? That dress is nice =).

Se llama "el Dia de los Muertos."

It's called Day of the Dead. It's big here in the southwest and in Mexico, but it's not strictly a *Spanish* holiday as much a mixture of Christian and local Indian beliefs. I know they don't celebrate it down in Chile, so I think it's strictly a Mexican holiday.

Good luck with that costume. I'm going as Mal, myself. Got a fine (borrowed) brownish-colored coat, I do.
