Lost in the woods
Saturday, January 6, 2007

So, I'm in school. But i have no idea what I want to do in life. I don't know what I want to major in. It's not like I don't have options. I'm smart, pretty much have all the doors open. I could do anything. It seems like all my friends and people i've graduated with have everything all lined up. They know what they want to do, they're having fun in college and i'm not. I'm lost in the woods. Why does it feel like i'm the only one who feels this way.

There's the kicker, DJToes...I dunno how many people truly know what they wanna do with their lives.

Me? I loved English and History in high school, so I thought I would study that. Rather big mistake, cuz my entire enjoyment of those subjects have been sucked right out of me after years of sitting through classes where the prof couldn't teach their way out of a paper bag and/or the material was not what I wanted to learn but was stuck with due to limited options concerning instructors with certain specialties.

Really? Figure out what you like to do (multiple enjoyments or hobbies are better than just picking one interest) and look into what kind of job and educational opportunities are available so you can know your choices early on.

Um just to join the crowd here...I went through the major of the week and then sort of backed into what I do now. There's no real way of knowing what you're meant to do until you find it...so good luck on the search

A bit of advice my dad gave me:

Figure out what you most enjoy doing, then find a way to get paid for it.

What I said in the other blog: do what you are interested in. I haven't gotten out of junior high yet, but I have that sense of knowing PR describes. Do what you love, and everything will come easy, Mere.

You're not the only one. I didn't really go to much college because I didn't know what I wanted to do. Still waiting for that flash of knowing.
