Sad News

My cat has passed on. We had to put him to sleep yesterday. He had the Big C, and he was very old, and his organs were failing. It still didn't make it easy.

So farewell to a big, mean fighter of a cat, who loved his food. When we got him his last collar, it was very sparkly, but as my husband said, 'A cat walks down the street in a collar like that...'

He was loud and obnoxious at times, and he had a bad tendency to throw up in inconvenient spots in the middle of the night. He liked to fight. He brought home all sorts of things in all sorts of states. You couldn't prepare food in the kitchen without eyes in the back of your head. (Or claws up the back of your knees.) But we loved him, and we shall miss him. But if you follow the theory of reincarnation, somewhere, somebody in the world has just picked up a new kitten, and received an unexpected handful of pins and a loud demand for sardines.

Hon, I'm so very sorry for the passing of your old kitty friend. In the past year, BigBadMan and I have had to put down three elder kitties. Even when you know it's the final loving gift you can give them - easing their suffering - it's still incredibly hard to do.

Sounds like your catman was a real character and fit just perfectly into the AnJL household. *hugs*

sorry to here about your kitty, so sad

we had to put one down last year after she was attacked by coyotes (on my daughter's b-day)

we cried for days, even my hubby who never really liked her

and, you know what they say about nine lives

Very sad news. I've lost a few kitties in my time, and I know how heartbreaking it is. He had a long and happy life with you and a gentle end - what more can a kitty ask?

I'm sorry as well, SpaceAnJL...had to put my first dog down for basically the same reasons 15 years ago. Still hurts to think on it, but I have the happy memories to help with the moments of sadness.

And I am definitely sure someone's just found that their new kitten is a hellion...that they can't help but love :D
