BLUE SUN ROOM FAN FICTION - GENERAL
This is one of the better ones I've written in the past week or so.
CATEGORY: FICTION TIMES READ: 2147 RATING: 9 SERIES: FIREFLY
Contrary to popular belief, it’s not always smooth sailin' in the Black. We get some weather out there too, just like on the worlds. Well, not just like, but you get what I'm sayin'.
Asteroid belts lurk around lotsa rim worlds, and if a pilot is unprepared, a ship can be easily torn up. These belts aren’t always just rock either. Bits of ice and chunks of refuse hang out there too. And those bits act differently than rocks. A pilot's gotta know how to maneuver around the different debris.
There're plenty of dangers. Sometimes an old star decides to supernova. It messes up all the signals and then sucks everything towards it. Very frightening and often disastrous to a ship. But I know how to handle that too.
Then there're Reaver yards; these strips where Reavers leave their victim ships. They are few and far between and avoided like the plague, but sometimes it's necessary to navigate them. I know, so few believe that Reavers even exist. Well, whatever. There're a lotta bits of ships drifting out there for no apparent reason if that's the case.
Anyhow, the Black is no free joyride. It's right dangerous. I can fly it all, though. I can fly any ship through asteroid belts and Reaver yards. I can fly through world rain, snow and fog. It's a cinch. I can fly in the dark or in blinding sun. I've never crashed a boat. I've never lost any crew while I was flyin'. I am the best. Not that I'm braggin'.
