River Tam Wallpaper
Friday, July 28, 2006

800x600 version. Made from my River Header, after a suggestion from someone who reviewed that piece. This was my first ever attempt at a wallpaper. In fact, since I resized the river image, some resolution was probably lost, but I'm not half displeased with the result. You can find the 1024x768 version here: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y255/Xeyra/Firefly%20and%20Serenity/riverwallpaper.jpg

Perfect! I'm goin' to yer link for the bigger version. You should do similar wallpapers with the other crew members. I love your creative style.

Very, very good. Man, you pop out style like it's going out of style. :)

Have this in 1280x1024, too? or 1440x900 (for my laptop). I'll marry you if you do, lol. :) Seriously, I'm thrilled to see this new, styleful work. Oh brave new 'Verse that has such creatures in it!

asarian, I could try, but since these two were already product of a little resizing, I do fear it may loose its detail. But I will try to work around it, if I can. :)

Oh, Xera, this is gorgeous.
You have an excellent sense of design.

Is it horrible that every time I see this shot, especially when it's black and white or a similar colour scheme, I think "Wow...River looks like Morticia Adams:)"

Anyway...looks even better in 800x600 format, Xeyra:D

Yep, Kayna, she does indeed have a great sense of design! The background picture alone is in such harmony with the image itself. And all the curvatures match those of the font perfectly. And the color scheme is downright brilliant. I'm thoroughly impressed, here.

I've seen this picture posted so many times. But this is the first time I've seen someone turn it into a real piece of styllish art. That, I suppose, is what a real artist does: take something ordinary, and turn it into something extraordinary.

Wow, asarian, your words really do feed my ego and make me go all blushy... The interesting thing is that this picture was born of chance, since I was just experimenting with Photoshop functions. It wasn't born of any know-how, but I guess it came out very well.

The wallpaper itself, though, was made in ten minutes. It was just brushes a big font for the curving lines at the corners, but my rushed first attempt at a wallpaper seems to have pleased, and I'm really glad for it.

BlueEyed: You know, she does look a bit like Morticia in these colors (Mal does say she's morbid and creepifying so I guess the shoe fits!) but she's a prettier Morticia, I'd think.

Ack, damn typos. "It was just brushes *and* a big font..."

Only ten minutes, and just chance, eh? You're hitting all the selling points. :) If you're that naturally intuitive and gifted, then I shudder to think what you might accomplish if you actually put some time into this! Shudder in astonishment, that is. :)

Your new works will be brilliant, too, no doubt; just as sure as the turn of the worlds!

OTHER ARTWORKS BY ARTIST

Summer Glau: "Dreamer"
It's been a while since I've done any graphics but today I was inspired by this image, so I made this.

River Tam: Icon Collection
These are some of the River Tam icons I've made in the past months and have been posting in my livejournal. I thought I'd gather a few and show them here.

River Tam: Through My Eyes
Just a simple River Wallpaper. It's been a while since I've done larger Firefly graphics.

I have two other versions of this wall, one textless, one without the smaller image of River on the top left corner.

Firefly: The Complete Series (Crew Cover)
Made for a contest on Livejournal that asked for a cover for a Boxset of a TV show. Obviously I chose Firefly. I made two covers. This is the Crew version.

Firefly: The Complete Series (Mal Cover)
Made for a contest on Livejournal that asked for a cover for a Boxset of a TV show. Obviously I chose Firefly. I made two covers. This is the Mal version.

The Captain and the Companion
Because they have the most interesting UST ever. :)

Browncoats: Mal and Zoe
Made in Photoshop CS2. Our favorite Browncoats, the captain and the second-in-command, who share one of the most interesting friendships in the series.

Simon in Jaynestown
I love this scene. Simon's expression is priceless. So I just had to play with it in Photoshop. I have two other versions of this graphic in the latest post at my livejournal (xeyra.livejournal.com).

River Tam Triumphant
I took one of Serenity's River promo images and created a graphic I submitted for a header contest at LJ. I had fun with this one. Lots of textures went into making this. I was going for a grunge-ish feel. Hope I succeeded.

Can't Take the Sky
I am obsessed with this promo shot so I've made a hundred variations of it. Well, I'm exaggerating but it almost feels like it. Made in Photoshop CS2.
