Original characters in the Firefly universe. It's U-Day... time to start a fight. Part 2 of 5.

CATEGORY: FICTION    TIMES READ: 1558    RATING: 0    SERIES: FIREFLY

Yeah, it's been a few months since I added to this series (I was doing robotics competitions). If you haven't read Liberty (6 parts) and/or Aquaphobe (5 parts), I'd suggest you find them and read them (they can be found in the fanfic section here) as it explains some of the things in this story. Disclaimer: anything recognizable is property of Joss Whedon, Mutant Enemy, etc. The story, however, is mine. Also, I had to take some creative liberties, but only on stuff not explained in the series. I also used my own translator for the Mandarin, so it may be off (although it's still comical). On to the story:

It was just after midnight local time. We pulled up to a small building on the outskirts of town. It was a place called Tiao Ju-Le Bu. You could tell it was decently popular too with the buzz of activity going in and out. There was a small parking lot in the back which was where we went. I activated the stormtank’s security system and climbed out. Following Libby and Tobias, I wound up at the front door. And the bouncer was giving them trouble. “You know, not letting someone in because their wearing brown is discrimination.” I said this before I was apprised of the situation. The rather large bouncer stepped in front of me, obviously bei sa niao long ta at what I just said. “The reason I’m not letting her in is because no ladies allowed. Unless they dance.” “Oh.” I stepped back a little. “just sticking up for m’lady is all.” He wasn’t a stupid bouncer either. “So your lady lets you come to a joint like this and-” Libby added herself to the conversation. “We’re meeting an old friend.” “In a strip club?” “You obviously haven’t met our friend,” she continued. “Anyway, he was that ‘mutual friend’ thing between us two.” “Oh, one of those types.” The bouncer stared down Tobias next. Tobias was big, but the bouncer was bigger. “And him?” Tobias actually came up with a good alibi for himself. “I make sure this lad doesn’t do any funny business with my sister here.” I caught on. “Yeah, he kinda doesn’t trust me with her.” The bouncer was finally convinced. “Okay. But I still can’t let her in.” “Why I-” Tobias held back Libby from most likely tearing apart the bouncer. “Don’t worry sis, we’ll drag your friend out here if we have too.” The bouncer stood aside for Tobias and me. “Your lady?” Tobias chuckled at that after we were out of earshot. “Well it worked on Georgia.” I took a quick look around the area. “I don’t see Geraldo anywhere.” “Well, we are a little early.” Tobias took a seat at a table close to the bar. “I’ll grab us a couple drinks. What’ll it be?” I sat at the same table. “No thanks. Alcohol screws up my circuitry.” “That’s gotta suck.” Tobias took a look at some of the dancers before turning back to me. “That lass on the left looks a little young.” “She’s only sixteen,” I said, not even bothering to look at any of the dancers. “Na shi jian gui yo bing di!” Tobias stood up. “I’m out of here. I’ll go wait with the robot.” I stayed. For a few minutes I was staring only at the entrance. A man came up to me. “You Eddie?” “What makes you think that?” He sat down next to me. “Only reason a guy in a strip club wouldn’t be watching the dancers is if he had business waiting to be talked about.” “Ni ying liao. Personally, I find the whole practice to be deplorable.” I kept my attention at the entrance. “Yes, I am Eddie. You must be Geraldo.” Geraldo discretely placed a small datachip on my table, got up, and left the building. That’s when the fun started. A man at the bar, half-drunk, stood up. Raising his glass, he started doing a toast in a loud voice. “Here’s to the Alliance! It was six years today that they sent the Browncoats packing, running with their tails in between their legs! Starting a new era of prosperity!” The rest of the bar raised their glasses to that. All except for me. I decided I would grab a drink. I put the datachip in my pocket, and walked up to the bar next to the man who was leading the toasting. He called me out right on the spot. “You didn’t toast.” “Sorry, wasn’t paying attention.” “You’re wearing brown.” He was now drawing attention from the rest of the crowd. “You’re one of them Independents, aren’t you?” “I didn’t fight in no war.” I turned to him. “Sorry, but if it’s a fight you’re looking for, you ain’t getting one out of me.” He threw a punch. Of course, I saw it coming a mile away, and ducked it. The entire crowd including the dancers was now watching as I threw a simple, straight kick to where the sun don’t shine. He keeled over, and I nailed him with an axe kick, sending him to the ground. Everybody stood up and walked slowly my way. Deciding that discretion was the better part of valor, I bolted for the exit. Coming in was a rather bulky man. Having speed on my side, I flew at him with a flying kick to the head, sending him falling. The rest of the crowd was now chasing me full speed out the door. Libby and Tobias were waiting for me on the outside. Apparently, Libby had just taken care of the bouncer. In the pitch-black dark, I turned around with them on my sides as a mass of angry citizens came out of the strip club ready for a fight. They had no clue what they were walking into. Tobias had the bigness, Libby had being made of metal going for her, and I was able to outwit any attackers. After a wave of about ten were sprawling on the dirt street, we all charged back toward the entrance. We took out four more charging through back into the club. The hallway was clogged with people who wanted us dead. But that made it easy as we only had to face a couple at a time. Tobias put himself in front, and with both arms fully extended outwards, ran through the mass like a knife through hot butter. Anybody who managed to duck him was easily taken care of by Libby and I as we followed him. We were back in the main area of the club with only a handful of angry patrons left. Most of them were smart enough to go to the exit and leave. The bartender never budged from behind the bar, probably getting a little enjoyment out of watching the rowdy customers getting their asses handed to them. But there was one who wasn’t done. It was the man who gave the toast, the man I had laid out earlier. “Stay back!” He had a gun in his hand, aimed at his shield. In this case, it was the underage girl I commented on earlier. I stared intently at the guy with the gun. After much concentration, a small electromagnetic wave (which looks like a heat wave cutting through the air) came from my head and hit the man. Essentially, it shorted out his nervous system. The girl, still clothed mind you, looked at me scared, and ran. Tobias grabbed the gun from the fallen man. “That was a nice trick lad.” Libby looked around, making sure there was no trouble. “I sure as hell hope you got the info.” “Sure did.” I gave the datachip to Libby. “Well, that was fun. Happy U-Day, Libby, Tobias.”
