Jayne stared at River, seething with anger.
“Girl, you almost got me thrown out the airlock,” he roared.
“Negative. The captain and Simon know that I am of the age to choose my independent paths without outside influences. If I choose the forest path instead of the yellow brick road, I have to deal with the upturned roots and branches.” River stepped closer to Jayne. “I want you, Jayne Cobb.”
“An’ I git no say? What if I don’t want ya?”
“You do.”
“Do not.”
“Do.”
“Nope.”
“Yes.”
“No,” he snapped. “I ain’t gonna be the one to uncross yer legs.” River looked down in confusion.
“My legs are not crossed. I am standing straight.”
Jayne glared. “Yer a gorram genius. Ya haven’t heard that sayin’?” River shook her head and he sighed. “Deflower? Pop the cherry?”
River smiled up at him. “No.”
Jayne growled. “Sexin’ a ruttin’ virgin.” He turned to go out of the dining hall and to his bunk, but he stumbled as River jumped on his back, arms and legs wrapped around his torso.
“Crazy, what the hell do you think yer doin’?” Jayne growled. River responded by burying her face into his neck. “Git off me, moonbrain.”
“She is not a virgin.” Her voice was muffled.
Jayne froze. “The Academy?” he questioned.
“Bad memories. Do not want to speak of it. No warmth, no passion. No touching. Only pain, tears and hate. Not real. I want to feel.”
“But this would be yer first time still. The other don’t count. An’ yer first should be with someone yer brother approves of.”
River snorted. “Simon will approve of no one.”
“Ya got a point there, girl. It still ain’t gonna be me.” Shaking his head with frustration, he pulled at her ankles. They struggled but Jayne’s arm strength was too great and he finally uncrossed her ankles.
River immediately let go, dropped to the floor and shimmied around to his front, leaning against him. “You just uncrossed my legs.” She grinned up at him.
“Ain’t the same thing!” he protested but groaned as she ground her pelvis and belly into him.
She placed her hands on his shoulders and pushed up slowly to wrap her legs once more around his waist. Jayne’s eyes closed and his breathing became labored. River waited until he opened his eyes and cupped his face with her hands. “You must uncross my legs.” She twisted her hips and Jayne let out a strangled cry.
One hand came up and splayed across her bottom to support her and the other snaked up her back to bring her even closer, ending up tangled in her hair.
“Jayne?” River breathed. “Can I kiss you?” She lost herself when he opened his mouth to reply and just leaned forwards to close the small distance between them with a slight moan.
She gasped as Jayne ravished her mouth with a burning mix of want and need. He couldn’t get enough of her taste and moved on to trail hot kisses down her neck. River arched to give him more room and cried out as her emotions overheated.
“Jayne? Jayne? I hurt so much.” Tears leaked out of her eyes. Jayne kissed them away.
“I know,” he mumbled. “I’ll help. One minute.” He walked out of the mess and down the narrow corridor. “Get ready to uncross them legs.”
A/N: I had this ending of what happens afterwards with an awesome Jayne catching River description but I felt like this ended well here…I guess I’ll just save it for another fic!
