BLUE SUN ROOM FAN FICTION - GENERAL
This is just a little something from Mina after she left Serenity and before Mal ran into her that day.
CATEGORY: FICTION TIMES READ: 1501 RATING: 0 SERIES: FIREFLY
Mina found herself behind the counter of a small Pharmacy again. But this time it was located in the Anka Crewe Medical Centre on Paquin. The place was a little run down and severely understaffed, but they worked hard to heal those that needed it. She wasn’t fully trained in medicine but what she knew she knew well. She generally picked up things easily enough. She successfully reconstructed a man’s hand after a few run throughs on a simulator. She dreamed of leaving Paquin and seeing the ‘verse, as she and Yen had once hoped to, but at the same time she knew she was needed there. She often felt guilty for allowing Eleonora to leave the ship with her a few weeks ago. She would have been much happier than she is now, wasting her culinary talents in a dirty tavern kitchen. Mina had made the best of Paquin as she could. She even found something like love, not quite what she’d felt before, but it was something. His name was Kay Atwell, a medical student in the only MedAcad there. She wouldn’t have had to think twice about leaving him behind. Mina slung on her browncoat and strolled out of the Anka Crewe centre and stood still for what could have been three minutes. She debated not returning, to just do as El had once done and steal a shuttle. “Aw, hell…” she grunted before heading towards the tavern where El worked. Passing through the doors, she said a temporary goodbye to the bright and airy sunshine and begrudgingly welcomed the humid and smoky, barely lit bar. She called to the barkeep as she grabbed a seat at a little round table. “Hey, Romero. Let El know I’m here”. She smiled as she added, “and I’m hungry”. She stared around the dim bar while she waited. The place was dead, as always. She spotted Mills in his usual place at the bar, clutching onto the stool for fear of falling off. Mina laughed under her breath then lowered her eyes to the table top. “Gotta get outta here ‘fore that’s me”.
