River gets a special letter on the 14th

CATEGORY: FICTION    TIMES READ: 3143    RATING: 9    SERIES: FIREFLY

To: Ms. River Tam c/o Amnon’s Post Freight and Holding Co. From: Your Secret Admirers

Can’t even think Can’t say boo Two by two we’re coming for you

Looking on ships Bashing in heads Can’t drown us out by taking your meds

Simon won’t help Nor will your friends You’ll never be able to make amends

This series is intended to honor some of my favorite poets and artists, so who better than Joss to style a poem after. This piece is based on the rhyme in "Hush." For some odd reason, the Gloves of Blue have always reminded me of the Gentlemen.

As always, I'm open to suggestions. Any special requests for pieces from your favorite Firefly baddy will be welcomed.

Brilliant! This series is such a neat concept and your choice of Joss to emulate in rhyme is perfect. Wish River could *send* a card back to them. Now wouldn't that be payback? Ali D :~)

Hi!

The first time I saw the "hands of blue" men, they reminded me of the Gentlemen too, which is spooky, 'cause that's one of the most scary episodes in the Buffy series.

In fact, I've not catched it was by the rythm of "Hush" when I've first read it, yet I've liked it nevertheless. It's a very nice adaptation, in fact, you just gave me an idea for a small adaptation. ^_^

I'm sure Atherton Wing has some choice sentiments he'd love to share with Inara.

this kinda reminds me of the "children of elm st." rhyme, 'one two freddy's comming for you...' i didnt get to see 'hush' but i can understand how the gentlemen would "fit" within the ++joss' greates baddies of all time++ area. they gave me the creeps for weeks after.

Creative, and a little creepy. I think maybe Badger needs a turn too.

Valentines from Villains 1- Saffron to Mal
It is that time of year when Hallmark and their corporate constituents force us to think of love and material ways to demonstrate it. While I’m sure that a flurry of holiday centered fic will begin to emerge as Valentine’s day grows closer, we should not forget those who make the Firefly universe so rich and exciting, namely the villains. If the Whedon universe has taught us anything, its that bad guys/gals need love too: Spike/Drusilla, Darla/Angelos, Mayor Wilkins/Faith (paternal love counts too). Though Firefly did not last long enough for us to see the softer side of its villains, I still write in honor of their passions.

Since I lack both imagination and poetic talent, the entries in this series are based on some of my favorite love poems. The first is in honor of Edna St. Vincent Millay’s, Thursday, one of the greatest breakup poems ever written.
