Jewel was asked about this scene at the Serenity convention and said that Joss had just told her to "enjoy the crap out of it". When she had done the shot, Joss came up to her and said (in surfer dude voice) "That was awesome."

I love this scene, it shows what a luxury a strawberry is in the firefly `verse, not to mention the sheer pleasure of Kaylee enjoying it ;)
