Inara and the Shepard getting hitched!
Wednesday, June 22, 2005

Oh dear, I "know" that this is just wrong of me... but I saw this (very) little screen-cap and had to giggle at the first thought that came into my head about it: Huh, Inara and Book are getting hitched! It's a delightful set-up -- there's Kaylee at the side as the witness; as Captain, Mal is officiating; and our spectrum opposites Inara and Book are warmly, if somewhat formally completing thier vows. Ok, yea, it ain't ever gonna happen, but I've always liked the respectful relationship between the two (who coincedently Mal has the most trouble with condoning either's profession, hmm...). I noticed this first when Inara switched roles with the Shepard in the pilot eps: he went to her for confession and she offered her solace to him. Very interesting symbolism. Joss is soooo good at this stuff! Anyway, just a ramble from an iconoclastic iconographer.

Jayne, Mal, & Book
Well, here's my first set of our BDH's "action figures" that I modified from a (Force 9?) and a couple of Star Wars figures. I remodled Jayne's hat a bit, cut back Han Solo's coat to Mal's length, cut back the long ponytail and mustache for Book and repainted everbody's costuming, skin and hair tone. Not perfect, but it was fun. Now I have to fine models for the other figures!

Mal and Jayne "Action Figures"
There's been discussion of Firefly action figures today. I thought that a couple of my kid's Star Wars figurines gould be modified fairly easily to make decent Mal and Jayne figures. What do you think?
