BLUE SUN ROOM FAN FICTION - GENERAL
Wash's last moments.
CATEGORY: FICTION TIMES READ: 1604 RATING: 9 SERIES: FIREFLY
With my head turned to the side, I never saw it coming. The window shattered. My seat jostled. Something large, heavy, and black protruded from my chest. The moment was so instantaneous I never had time to react; nor did I have time to feel any pain. My internal organs shut down. My heart stopped pumping. My brain reeled as the blood no longer flowed.
They say earring is the last thing to go. I knew something was wrong then, when the only thing I could do was listen. My wife’s beautiful panicked voice filled my ears as she called out my name. I wanted to comfort her. I wanted to move and get out of this seat. It tormented me to be so helpless amidst such danger. But even her voice began to fade. And that’s when I saw the light.
What a light it was—so pure and boundless. It came from above and pulled me away from my body. As I looked back, I saw with breathtaking clarity and detail the result of my adventure. The Captain pulled my wife away, and together they disappeared from the cockpit. By now, my torment and confusion was gone. I relaxed into the light and was absorbed. I no longer had any questions. I felt like I knew everything. I no longer sensed pain or danger. There was only love. No need to weep for me, I thought—the light becoming brighter and brighter. We will be seeing each other soon enough; because the sky stretches farther than we ever thought. And nothing will ever take that away from us.
