I've undertaken a task called "the zombie series." it's a series of poems about... well... zombies. completely unrelated to firefly. I wrote this cinquain and as I was reading it back to myself... it was River's voice. So this is hers. Patchwork Girl - my river cinquain.

Patchwork Girl

She finds the pieces that have died and fallen away. She gathers them all together and sews

herself back into the shape of a normal girl— mostly whole, held together with black threads.

A piece is missing here and there, but if you squint and tip your head, she almost looks complete.
